The Official Kerbal Dakar 2017

That okay if I use my save I have already? -
Hmm, I think I'm going to SLIGHTLY enlarge the back tires on KARR wirth Tweakscale. no idea what that will do for power though...
-
Hint, on Stage 2, use the pass to the left. The one on the right has a couple dangerous dropoffs, learned that the hard way during the last two test runs
-
She has 12 RTGs helping to power her, so the driver runs the risk of growing a few extra toes...probably a third eyeball...
-
It's empty.
-
Finally, she is finished! Nothing but electricity is powering this thing. here is the final form of my entry into the Rally.
-
Final setup sees Bill and Bob ready in the rescue vehicle at the start of Stage 3. Tomorrow is the day for these Kerbals... I just have to click a button. I'm going to miss Indian dances around a campfire, darn
-
I am about to attempt a full run myself. Last of the supports have arrived at Flag 4: (fraps counter lol) Should be able to make it there before sunset if I start mid-morning. and I made a COMPLETELY new transport system to get the vehicles there. I call it the HyperVelocity Short-Range Transport System (HVSRTS): I've got some upgrades in mind for it too...
-
Well I took another longish break for RL, back to the garage.
-
Remember - Wreck ONCE when this thing actually starts, and you are OUT. Thankful for this testing period. Oh, and my kerbals are so excited, some of them are jetting out to camp at the Stage 4 end flag. I fear I may need to fix a flat after that one...May send a small support vehicle too just in case I have it far from a flag.
-
So, here is me and I am admitting my brain has been farting...I forgot I had an ELECTRIC PROP LOL, it has 8KN at full throttle.
-
And as expected I COMPLETELY shattered my personal stage 1 record.
-
HAAAA, I GOT IT! Prop is from KAX, the helicopter tail rotor, 14kn of thrust at full throttle. nowhere near the power of the Juno but it really, REALLY helps.
-
I nearly finished it...a steep descent on the 6th stage got me. I'm going to take the Juno off and try again if that's not allowed.
-
Yup, this is why I'm not using jets during the whole course. You can see the chassis I made though, which is pretty cool. neeeeeed morrrrrre rigidity....
-
I WAS thinking a hybrid...a single Juno for the smoother sections and switching it off for the more hilly ones.
-
Jeb took full advantage of one of his extremely rare days off:
-
Oh, and you may have watched my videos in the ASC tourneys...I will be making video for this too pushing my Thoroughbred into service as a camera plane.
-
Mine is ELECTRIC, no fuel needed. Heh. ALTHOUGH apparently all the bugs have not been squeezed out of it yet. Getting close though. You will have a HIGHLY competitive machine in the Electric category when I'm finished with it, I guarantee ya.
-
And I ended up completely rebuilding the thing...simple upgrading wasn't cutting it anymore, and I needed more power also...ended up with this. Now it has a complete chassis and 4 RTGs.
-
IT WORKS, nearly broke my record for the 1st stage, and would have if I didn't spin out a couple times. And oh, apparently Windows 10 likes to invade my games lol
-
And I ended up giving the car an overhaul, NO MORE BANANA, and I put some running boards to hopefully give it softer landings from jumps.
-
I need to update VesselMover too...nice moving system Triop I'll probably do it manually too so I can enjoy the landforms.
-
Yep, destroyed on Stage 5. Almost made it though, I put some struts on for the next attempt. I winder where you go to avoid those REALLY steep hills and still put in a fast time.
