  1. Well.... Initial tests were an absolute failure. For a 6.25m probe with a 1m/s rate of descent I can get it up to 233 m and have it weigh very little. I think I will leave out the balloons and just make the lander.
  2. Try making the middle stage out of two Medium tanks instead of one large.
  3. What about a engine to boost it a few Km up and then deploy parachutes, then the engine could decrease thrust to slow the probe to 0.1 m/s. Edit: Also, the root part bug will be so annoying trying to build three craft in one.
  4. All of my replica projects are modded using Tweakscale and KJR, nothing else. I may use a small aerospike with a little bit of fuel and hundreds of wings though. My other idea was to release it about 2 km up with enough parachutes to not make it land for hours while the rest of the probe descended.
  5. Yes, and the bus is the same as 2001 Mars Odyssey, so I just have to make two sets of instruments instead of two spacecraft.
  6. This is the release thread for my Russian probe replicas made by Duna Aerospace. These crafts use Tweakscale and Kerbal Joint Reinforcement All of these come with launchers and are correct scale. First off, here are the launchers. R7 These crafts use several versions of this craft, mainly varying on upper stage. It currently does not use engine clusters, but they will be added after 1.1 The soviet probe program was divided into Luna, Venera, Mars, and Phobos missions. Luna 1 Luna 1 was the first Russian probe to the moon. It was intended to impact but missed. Identical Luna 2 accomplished the mission. It was launched on a Luna Rocket(R7). 73 parts, costs 56,189 http://kerbalx.com/clivman/Luna-1-2 Luna 3 Luna 3 was the first Russian probe to photograph the far side of the moon It was launched on a Molniya Rocket(R7). 127 parts, costs 38,778 Luna 9 Luna 9 was the first probe to land on the moon It was launched on a Molniya Rocket(R7). 169 parts, costs 76,711
  7. If you already used Tweakscale try and make it 1.875m which is the correct scale. Also
  8. Haven't seen that. It is structurally finished but looks bad. Edit: Never mind, revamped it. However if it lands on it's side it breaks. Otherwise it can take impacts from up to a 30 meter fall.
  9. When I get back to my PC i'll post it here, after it's sucess I may rebuild my Pathfinder and MER landing systems. Edit: Also, it's not deployable sadly.
  10. This is the release thread for my Indian Space Research Organization probe and spacecraft replicas made by Duna Aerospace. These crafts use Tweakscale and Kerbal Joint Reinforcement ISRO Orbital Vehicle India's first manned spacecraft, launched on a GSLV Mk2 93 parts, costs 232,474 http://kerbalx.com/clivman/ISRO-Orbital-Vehicle Chandrayaan 1 ISRO's first mission to the moon launched on a PSLV XL. 75 parts, costs 46,660 http://kerbalx.com/clivman/Chandrayaan-1 Mangalyaan 1 ISRO's first mission to Mars launched on a PSLV XL. 76 parts, costs 61,179 http://kerbalx.com/clivman/Mangalyaan-1 Launchers PSLV XL
  11. Okay all of the European rockets are done so I can start on Giotto and Smart-1. Hermes shuttle will follow. (I already finished ATV and CMTFF, they are going through testing now)
  12. You should try making a Sakigake, the Mu-3SII is actually really hard to build
  13. No, they are actually Indian missions Mangalyaan 1 and Chandrayaan 1.
  14. Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, Pheonix Mars Lander, and Mars Polar lander are going through final testing.
  15. I need to make Ariane 1 before I can finish this pack and I'm working on other replicas right now so it may take a while.
  16. Working on it - - - Updated - - - The poor little thing couldn't hold it's own weight on Kerbin so I had to push it off Pathfinder. - - - Updated - - - Here is Opportunity and Curiosity for comparison
  17. His looks a bit too big for the (should be) 1.25m Minotaur, but the craft is really good, better than mine right now! He just forgot about the auxilary side thrusters.
  18. The octo 2 is actual size. I couldn't make Sojourner any smaller because of the root part bug in tweakscale.
  19. Not in this one, but Sojourner-Pathfinder, Opportunity, and many of the probes parts are smaller the smallest parts in stock. Most solar panels can be made in stock but you cannot build working replicas of many of the probes with special solar panels because they are not deployable.
