[1.5.1] Kerbal Star Systems [v0.8.2] August 18, 2018
Voodoo8648 replied to StarCrusher96's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Glad to hear original Kerbin will stay May I make a suggestion: Separate bug fixes or patches from KSS content updates. If you are releasing an update that includes changes to existing celestial objects (potentially career breaking) AND bug fixes or optimization, then make them separate folders in the download. That way those of us playing in career mode can enjoy the bug fixes but we can decide if the new content update is something we want to install.- 4,170 replies

[1.5.1] Kerbal Star Systems [v0.8.2] August 18, 2018
Voodoo8648 replied to StarCrusher96's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@smotheredrun You and I think very similar. I've been following KSS for a long time and I've offered lot's a critical feedback throughout the development. I am an analyst in real life and I identify potential problems and offer solutions. Most users of beta products like KSS won't take the time, nor can they identify and articulate specific areas for improvement. KSS 0.6 is a wonderful Mod. It has been a great mod for a while. In my opinion, its worthy of a 0.9 label, just a few bugs need worked out. I don't want to see KSS linger in a perpetual 0. something beta version forever.- 4,170 replies

[1.5.1] Kerbal Star Systems [v0.8.2] August 18, 2018
Voodoo8648 replied to StarCrusher96's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I hope this doesn't sound mean or angry. This is honest and objective feedback: I just now launched a new ship for the first time since I installed 0.6.1.. WHAT HAPPENED TO KERBIN?!?! It was nice having an ocean off the east coast of KSC. I wanted a barge in the ocean to replicate landing a used rocket like Space X does. Having land so close to the launch site is soo awkward. More importantly, over the years of playing KSP; Kerbin has become a familiar Home planet like Earth is to us in real life. Now Kerbin is like an alien planet and the change took away a certain amount of curiosity and desire to search for another kerbin-like planet. If you want to replicate Earth's continents, I would support that, but the new change to Kerbin is disappointing If KSS is supposed to be career ready (and other than these sporadic and unnecessary changes, it does seem to be career ready) then what we need is consistency from now on. Any fundamental changes to ANY existing star, planet, moon, ect is going to be severely more frustrating than impressive to those of us playing in Career mode. Unnecessary changes like re-positioning a celestial object, re-texturing a celestial object, or ANYTHING that can mess up someone's existing satellite orbits or rovers or any launched object is game breaking and extremely disheartening to anyone playing in career. Perhaps you could instead post a survey and allow us to vote on a change that you might consider implementing in future version releases. Warn us first of the potential consequences of the proposed change (potentially career mode breaking), let us collectively decide if a major change is worth making (and changing Kerbin is a major change!!!).- 4,170 replies

[1.5.1] Kerbal Star Systems [v0.8.2] August 18, 2018

HOW TO FLY TO ANOTHER STAR Now that you have the opportunity to travel to another star system, perhaps your confused on how to actually get there. Interstellar travel is different than interplanetary travel. So I made a video tutorial on how to travel to another star. Hope this helps somebody.- 4,170 replies

[1.5.1] Kerbal Star Systems [v0.8.2] August 18, 2018
Voodoo8648 replied to StarCrusher96's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I removed the hideOrbit_Stars.cfg as instructed by StarCrusher and I must say that it makes seeing the star's orbital trajectories MUCH easier. Much easier to see what is going on relative to The All. Without those orbit lines, you have no idea what your ship is doing because there is nothing to compare it to.- 4,170 replies

@StarCrusher96 Would you please tell us your recommended method of traveling to another star system and provide the detailed specific procedures? Please assume that we are using ion or nuclear propulsion or some near future technology... I am around the SOI of Kerbol (not within any planet's SOI) and I aim directly at the target star system and the trajectory never get's anywhere close to being on the path to intersect the star. Traveling to another star is new territory and NASA doesn't even do it in real life. How do you intersect a star?- 4,170 replies

WOW! Thats a lot of work!!!!! I didn't know you had to manually fly to all the bodies. I thought you were running calculations or something.
-
StarCrusher96 has replied to you several times asking for what specific information you need. He needs to know how to quickly find Pe and Pa.. Please check the private message: KSS Delta V map We are all three in the active conversation. If you don't have time to work on it, perhaps if you have a spreadsheet that you used to make your previous delta V maps, you could share the resource? KSS is kind of impractical without a Delta V Map (unless people want to cheat)
-
Now that career ready Kerbal Star System 0.6 is released, could you please work on a Delta-V map for that star system? I'd be happy to help with the graphics portion.
-
I figured it out, I had to edit the mod's .cfg file in order to get the MJ windows all activated.
-
Ok, I installed the Mechjeb and Engineering For All mod and it's kinda works. I only see a few basic Mechjeb windows like Delta-V and orbit info, Surface info... But I'm missing Ascent guidance and Maneuver planner and others.. Do I have to unlock the more advanced MJ windows by upgrading the VAB or something? @Loren Pechtel @cake>pie
-
I have Mechjeb 2 and this mod installed, but not all of the mechjeb windows are available.. I only see: Flight Recorder Scripting module Setting SmartRCS Delta-V Stats Orbit info Surface info Vessel info What I need is the ascent guidence but this and other things are not present... How do I get the? I'm playing in career mode and I haven't unlocked many things in the tech tree and I thought this was supposed to eliminate the need for tech tree
-
Im sure this has been asked before but is there a way to activate all of the mechjeb parts in career mode without having to purchase those techs from the tech tree? I found something from another (old) thread and tried that but it doesn't work. Also, is there a way to have Mechjeb always active without having to install the physical part onto the spacecraft?

The Bug: I cannot change focus on any planets or moons in either the tracking station or the map, however Tab and Shift-Tab works, so I am able to cycle through the bodies. I have made a video demonstrating the problem: The Cause: When the highly anticipated Kerbal Star System (KSS) mod version 0.6 was released, I installed a FRESH new version of KSP 1.2.2. The ONLY mods installed are Kerbal Star System 0.6 and the required supporting mods, Kopernicus and Modular Flight Integrator. After installing KSS, the focus bug appeared. If I remove KSS from the Gamedata folder, the bug disappears. In an attempt to troubleshoot, I installed KSP on three different computers at three different locations and I get the same bug on all three PCs with KSS. According to @StarCrusher96, the author of KSS, there is only me and a few other people who have this problem. Everybody else's focus works perfect. @StarCrusher96 gave me a "fix" that worked only on one computer, but after starting KSP and exiting several times, the fix quit working (no other mods installed). His "fix" solved the problem only for the tracking station, but not in the map view. When his fix did work, pressing "Backspace" to reset view did not work. The fix consisted of another version of Kopernicus and Modular Flight Integrator. @StarCrusher96 has looked into the problem and he found some lines in my output_log confirming the bug, but he is NOT able to find what is causing it. Here are the lines of code he found: Exception handling event OnCBIconClicked in class SpaceTracking:System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at PlanetariumCamera.GetTargetIndex (System.String targetName) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at PlanetariumCamera.SetTarget (System.String name) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at PlanetariumCamera.SetTarget (.CelestialBody body) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at KSP.UI.Screens.SpaceTracking.onCBIconClicked (.CelestialBody data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at EventData`1[CelestialBody].Fire (.CelestialBody data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 (Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/generated/common/runtime/UnityEngineDebugBindings.gen.cpp Line: 42) NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at PlanetariumCamera.GetTargetIndex (System.String targetName) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at PlanetariumCamera.SetTarget (System.String name) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at PlanetariumCamera.SetTarget (.CelestialBody body) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at KSP.UI.Screens.SpaceTracking.onCBIconClicked (.CelestialBody data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at EventData`1[CelestialBody].Fire (.CelestialBody data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 UnityEngine.DebugLogHandler:Internal_LogException(Exception, Object) UnityEngine.DebugLogHandler:LogException(Exception, Object) UnityEngine.Logger:LogException(Exception, Object) UnityEngine.Debug:LogException(Exception) EventData`1:Fire(CelestialBody) OrbitRenderer:objectNode_OnClick(MapNode, Buttons) KSP.UI.Screens.Mapview.MapNode:OnPointerUp(PointerEventData) UnityEngine.EventSystems.ExecuteEvents:Execute(IPointerUpHandler, BaseEventData) UnityEngine.EventSystems.ExecuteEvents:Execute(GameObject, BaseEventData, EventFunction`1) UnityEngine.EventSystems.StandaloneInputModule:ProcessMousePress(MouseButtonEventData) UnityEngine.EventSystems.StandaloneInputModule:ProcessMouseEvent(Int32) UnityEngine.EventSystems.StandaloneInputModule:ProcessMouseEvent() UnityEngine.EventSystems.StandaloneInputModule:Process() UnityEngine.EventSystems.EventSystem:Update() As instructed by StarCrusher96, I have posted the problem on the Kopernicus thread, but there has been no reply. Can someone please help? There are only like 3 or 4 people who are using KSS who are having this problem. Here is my Output_log file: https://1drv.ms/t/s!AvUWxjgM4SuQhc5xdR3DYGahlxF00A

[1.5.1] Kerbal Star Systems [v0.8.2] August 18, 2018
Voodoo8648 replied to StarCrusher96's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
There's about 70-80 celestial bodies in KSS. As in reality, not all are hospitable to even unmanned spacecraft. Eve is absolutely useful in acquiring more science, even if it doesn't yield as much science as you WANT, or think it should yield. I believe science yields have been modified in KSS, so (again as in reality) you're going to want to extract as much science as you possibly can and this is EVEN MORE REASON to go and visit Eve. Your greed for "100%" science extraction blinds you to the realities of space exploration. This is a space simulator.- 4,170 replies

[1.5.1] Kerbal Star Systems [v0.8.2] August 18, 2018
Voodoo8648 replied to StarCrusher96's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The Kerbol system is designed to be very similar to our real solar system. Venus' atmosphere is crushing and it would be impossible to retrieve any ship sent into the atmosphere of Venus. Don't send kerbals to Eve and don't expect to retrieve a craft from Eve. Transmit your science. If you want more science send more landers to different biomes.- 4,170 replies

[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
Voodoo8648 replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Is there anybody that could possibly look into this? There is a small number of us who have a problem in the tracking station and map where focusing on a planet / moon is non-functional since upgrading to Kerbal Star System 0.6 The problem is on a fresh stock install of KSP and using only KSS and Kopernicus. According to Starcrusher, It's not a problem for most of the users, but there is a handful of us that have the problem and it makes gameplay impractical. I have installed fresh instances of KSP on THREE different computers at THREE different locations and I have the problem on ALL THREE computers! The problem does not exist when Kopernicus is the only mod installed (without KSS) but as soon as I install KSS the problem comes back. Without this core functionality, KSP remains unplayable... Anyone? -

PLEASE FIX THIS... this is why I stopped playing KSP altogether like 4 or 5 months ago.. hoping 0.6 would fix it... I'm happy to use the work around, but I still cant play it because of the non-functional focusing on planet's / moons bug in the tracking station and map- 4,170 replies
