Breaking Ground Walker speed challenge
Teilnehmer replied to Kergarin's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I’ve improved my skater. Now, it doesn’t lift the blades above the road. It can reach 53 m/s at the end of the runway. The time is 0:10 0:18.- 110 replies

Oh, how could I miss that! Thanks. -
Build a craft that flies like birds do—without any engines or rotors, using the motion of the wings.

Is there a mod making the game menu more lightweight? I mean, all this 3D objects and effects look great But when you start the game for the thousandth time, you might prefer speed over beauty. It would be nice to have a plain and lightweight menu without any art or animation.

Three sacks of electronic boards -

My attempt. 1 Rapier, 4 Dawns, 2 fuel cell arrays, Kerballed. Mass: 5 736 kg including a Kerbal.
-
Awesome! Congratulations! What’s inside the fairing?

Dawn gives 1 kN of thrust at 5 km altitude, 1.5 kN at 8 km, and 1.9 kN at 15 km. It’s also no problem to get a high apoapsis with Panthers. From my point of view, the main problem is speed you can get with Panthers. BTW, I removed the requirement for the craft to be Kerballed. I’ve also created an alternative challenge where any air-breathing engines are allowed, not just Panthers.

Jet + ion SSTO challenge Create a stock craft that… is single-staged, uses only jet and ion engines for propulsion (Rapiers are allowed in air-breathing mode only), is able to reach Kerbin orbit and land back, doesn’t use cheats, doesn’t abuse clipping (small clipping and clipping of structural parts are allowed though), doesn’t have any obstacles for the ion engine exhaust (Stock physics doesn’t check this for some reason for Dawn engines. Please don’t abuse that too much. No special limitations for jet engines since it’s already checked by stock physics.) Nominations: lowest launch mass: Teilnehmer — 5 736 kg chargan — 12 543 kg highest launch mass: chargan — 12 543 kg Teilnehmer — 5 736 kg special prize for originality.

Sorry guys. I have no idea if this is possible. One thing I know for sure is that people here do impossible things. Regularly. And that’s awesome
-
Dawn Panther SSTO Challenge Create a stock craft that… is Kerballed, is single-staged, uses only Panther and Dawn engines for propulsion, is able to reach Kerbin orbit and land back, doesn’t use cheats (in particular, Dawn engine stacking). Nominations: lowest launch mass, highest launch mass, special prize for originality. Whoever succeeds will be considered a hero. Heroes: realseek

Wow! Bradley Whistance got into Kerbin orbit with ion engines! I’ve never even considered this possible. The most exciting thing, however, is that the Kerbin orbit was not enough for Bradley!

For a change, a bit of nice footage from on-board cams of the Egyptsat-A satellite made by Roscosmos for Egypt government. The СПД-70 Hall-effect plasma thrusters look great! -
I think, it would also be nice to have a simplified version (say, a dodecahedron) alongside a replica to reduce the part count (craft count after the detonation) and therefore the lag.

Sixty years ago, in 1959, the first artificial object touched another celestial body. It was the Luna-2 probe. It contained two stainless steel spheres made of 72 pentagonal tiles each and explosive charge inside. The point was that while most of the tiles would be vaporized on impact at a high speed, one or two tiles facing backwards would be slowed down a bit by the explosion and survive the impact. I believe this concept can be implemented as a KSP mod so we could celebrate the 60th anniversary of the event on September 13 with a couple of glossy tiles lying intact on the surface of the Mun (or RSS Moon).

C’mon, that’s OK. The case of the shell perforation has already been tested and proved safe. -

Sure. By the way, currently, the position of the number depends on the value non-linearly. Should the arrows move the same way or should they move linearly? -

Why don’t they use telescopes for watching rockets in flight like here?
