Game resolution not persistent
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I suppose that works, but I'm looking for either a complete fix or at the very least posting this so Squad remembers this is a major issue. -
This bug has existed since 1.4, and I am extremely disappointed to see that it has not been patched yet, despite the numerous reports. I use a 4k monitor (3840 x 2160) and when using scatterer/EVE I would like to turn this down. Now, the report is in this section because whether my install is modded or not the issue remains: Whenever I change my resolution from 3840 x 2160 to anything lower such as 2560 x 1440 or 1920 x 1080, scene changes will revert this back up to 4k. This usually happens when tabbing out and back in whilst the load screen is present, but has happened in flight too. My Settings.cfg contains the resolution I desire (2560 x 1440) but the game always reverts it back up to 3840 x 2160. Any help would be appreciated as how to stop this from happening, since this doesn't look like it will be fixed any time soon.

I'm experimenting with trees and terrain scatters on the planets now! I've given Kohm's surface an alien appearance. This is the only other planet in the Tempus system to contain life, but it is not carbon based. Most likely methane.

To expand on the region biomes, some planet descriptions will tell you places of interest such as a planet's peaks, oceans, lava, poles or atmosphere depending on the presence of any hazards. Hazardous planets such as those with lava or bumpy terrain, to name a few, will have these descriptions along with the location that you'll get extra science for. You'll get 1.5x the usual amount by visiting the more rewarding part of the planet. For lava lakes this increases to 2x. Science scales accordingly throughout the Tempus system. The further away from Rhode you go, the more you get as a base multiplier. As you have the ability of unlocking a small base on Verna (Eeloo), science in the Kerbol system scales more the further inwards you go. Gas giants will reward you 2.5x the science for gathering data within the atmosphere and this will be written in their descriptions. In short, the harder the planet, the more rewarding it will be to explore. Hopefully this encourages people to vary their techniques and there is absolutely no "go-to" method for each planet. You have to tackle each one differently from the last. You'll need to pick your landing sites for the best possible reward without damaging your crafts. Obviously, the option to play it safe and land in the flat areas is there, but that's no fun!

I'm now experimenting with biome-based science rewards that scale with the difficulty of each region on a planet. Here's an example of what to expect when visiting Fury:

Scroll up a bit and click the "beyond home skybox" image and you'll be able to look around it in 360 degrees. It's the planet pack default skybox as kerbolexplorer said _____________________________________________________________ Dres is back with a vengeance.

I might add stars in those regions, but the idea is that the entire system is within a nebula looking out - the stars might go in the distance rather than the nebula "cloud" which is the dark, blank looking spaces. I don't think i'll add galaxies because of the whole "looking out thing". (The tempus system is VERY young, which is why it's within a nebula)

I don't think it actually contains any stars. I might artificially add some depending on feedback Not many, but I might be able to get some at some point. If you're worried about optimization, it'll be comparable to stock performance. It runs slightly faster than some of the visual packs out there.

Still up to a month yet unfortunately. Got a lot of school work to get through, getting my YouTube back on track and waiting for at least a week of testing. I've a lot of work ahead!

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This is a bug in Stock KSP's contract system. Simply don't accept it and visit the moons as normal, and contracts will generate for them normally from then on. Olu'um is in fact an early star, not a black hole- 2,454 replies

It works if you update the dependencies, but I don't walk people through how to do it. GPO's update won't be too far away now

[1.4.3] Gameslinx's Planet Overhaul v3.4.0 [UPDATE IN PROGRESS]
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You could remove the Gaia config and then in the removePlanetaryBodies.cfg you could remove the "!Body[Kerbin] {}" but again, if you don't know how, don't try otherwise you will break the mod. I won't help further with tampering with the mod, as this is really something you should do yourself.- 2,454 replies
