Netrice was fast asleep in the cab of her rover when it suffered a sudden integrity failure. With no evidence of giant mutant star goat activity it is strongly suspected some idiot was operating some kind of temporal accelerator nearby........ luckily her Lionel Ritchie collection survived (and some parts might be usable).

Doesn anyone know if Kerbalstuff is down?
dangerhamster replied to Furious1964's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Was having a browse there earlier and it was either running very slow or timing out. -
The Minmus refinery was finally declared mission capable with the laying of the outlet pipe, although the grins faded slightly when they realised they couldn't remember which container had the winches meant for ship connection in. Bill couldn't find his crayons to make a big "free fuel" sign to attract custom so the new plan is to construct crew habitation well stocked with Duna bars and David Kermanhoff DVD's. Bill also got his fortress kabin of (relative) solitude in place with his own comms and big screen tv in case MechVal goes offline...

Personally I just do the tipping over at home and use KAS/KIS to connect to everything else. Self positioning, all that needs doing is moving the legs to the sides and plugging in. The motive units can be left in place or removed and reused to build rovers.

Revert launch after saving
dangerhamster replied to THX1138's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You can still revert unless you actually use F9. -
A fevered nights activity saw the unveiling of the Kompact Refinery Automated Place holder...... No one knows if it will actually work but the design brief was merely " bang together something so people don't realise we forgot to design one at the start of the project". Testing was confined to checking it fitted in the Deliverance system test rig, The fit was evaluated as "snug" but worth despatching as Bill could always work out any little problems, it's not like he has anything else to do at the moment. Launch will take place as soon as the pad is cleared of some strange space debris with threatening notes attached.

The most frequently used words on KSP reddit
dangerhamster replied to Evanitis's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Just gone bong eyed trying to spot the words struts boosters and moar............ -
The second ore tank arrived on Minmus, to Bill's dismay during his "alone time" with something called MechVal.... Like the trooper he is he buckled down and managed get everything erect and plugged in before sunrise. Snh snh snh. Hopes of bringing the facility into "mode usefulness" received a blow when it was revealed no-one had yet even built a prototype ISRU to plug in the end. A sudden burst of inspiration meant a couple of engineers took a ride out to the old mining ship meaning to try and land it near enough as a stopgap. What they found was a shredded flag with a note attached saying "nice ship, we'll take it". Turns out the two forgotten pilots from the KarGo test mission had used it to get back to Kerbin. Their plan received a blow when they noticed a severe lack of parachutes and other re-entry facilitators. Initial hopes of getting back before their dates forgot about them dashed they opted to transfer to Hotel station where the amenities are slightly nicer. They are currently holding up placards at the windows demanding someone come and get them or they will unleash electric death on the cowering citizens below. Or crippling all communications. Or summoning a giant space goat Or flushing the toilet directly above KSC. All work has been halted whilst the scientists try to work out if any of this is likely to get noticed by the media.

Things are looking up on Minmus with the arrival of the first ore tank. Bill fresh from his near orbit experience at the hands of the cherry picker was delighted to keep his feet on Terra Mintia as he set up the support legs and removed the transport package. With everything connected Kerbin gave the thumbs up to the big switch on, while the others cowered in their cabs Bill stayed outside in a fit of bravado. Initial signs are that it actually works but one of the three engineers on site is now permanently in the control module. In comfort. While the others sleep in the rovers.

How do you unlock ships
dangerhamster replied to minerpirate's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Because in the context of his question he could well mean launch, or he may mean how do I open a .craft file in an outside programme. In this case it is best to determine exactly what the problem is.......... the clue to launch is the game is telling him the ship contains locked or invalid parts. Happy now mr picky? -
How do you unlock ships
dangerhamster replied to minerpirate's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
In that case they contain non stock parts, or possibly tweakscaled stuff (no idea if the game can handle this if you don't have tweakscale) can you open them in the VAB? -

If you are playing career they are not yet researched. If you just want to try them start a sandbox game, this won't affect your career save. -
Might be nice to expand on the current text. ATM if your Kerbal is in a "busy" area you have no sure way of knowing which part you are interacting with, might it be possible to draw from the parts list of a particular craft to say (e.g) "grab ladder" or "grab floodlight"? Another option might be to auto highlight the part the text refers to. Thoughts?

Work continues on Minmus. Although somebody forgot to measure the combined command and battery units resulting in an unplanned separation event... this provided more work for the manipulator removing the wreckage and pulling the stuck command unit out. Power and command units are being positioned. With a new battery unit landed replacing the planned payload of ore tanks. A Also landed were containers with rover seats etc to enable a couple of light rovers to be built from the now redundant BCTU's (Base Component Traction Unit).

A burst of activity at Jolly Rogaaaaaah Inc, Orbcam 3 was deployed tasked with observing distant galaxies. Possibly for upload to ratemygalaxy.com. And testing of the KarGo system took place. The initial test went so well the crew exceeded their orders and continued to Minmus and made a successful landing. Celebrations at HQ were cut short by an irate radio call informing them the test vehicle lacked a radio transmitter and the ability to return to Kerbin. And not only were they the last two pilots at space centre but they both had dates at the weekend...... Whilst the flight crew stood on the flats with their thumbs out the engineers hired a 12 year old to program their flight computers (and set up their VCR). The development continued with mixed results. Before settling on Deliverance Mk2 (minus the erratic plonkinator system). The delivery system being a one way deal will be used as a parts source (and possible bowling alley) before the remains are "explosively terminated". With their mail sorted the engineers began looking for the highest local concentration of ore. In the opposite direction to the two gesticulating pilots......

Fresh from discovering that Dres actually exists Dumb Probe 1 executed a rendezvous with an asteroid orbiting Dres. For a given value of "executed" and "rendezvous". As the mission unlocked the "rendezvous with an object in orbit of Dres" milestone and the probe was almost bingo on fuel anyway they are calling this a success. With visions of a downsized tracking board it was decided to sacrifice the resource scanner orbiting Eve to evaluate the possibility of a landing. The Nerv struggled somewhat..... and finally succumbed to heating. To mission controls surprise the remains decelerated enough to raise the possibility of a controlled impact. Some judicious rotation kept the speed down enough to land without breaking anything. The M700 manual is now being rewritten to include the phrase "also useful as an emergency airbrake".

I use part commander to switch control between different cores, also makes turning built in reaction wheels on/off easier than playing chase the part.
