  1. $600 is a nice budget, but not enough for a computer with a decent processor and GPU, those are $600 and more. In fact, the most expensive gaming pc I've seen was around $16500! But hey, that one had: 8x Intel i7 core (the most powerful edition of the i7 is the strongest processor ever built on Earth!) 4x Nvidia GeForce Titan X (Until the new Titan Z showed up, the Titan X was the most powerful GPU) 64 GB RAM You understand, that's a lot of money wasted, since it's practically using a minigun on a fly. Good computers do not have to be expensive, you'll be fine with an intel i5 quad core, 8GB RAM and a decent GPU, which'll cost around $650-$950.
  2. This looks really nice! Really well done! Now, let's land our own Philae! Let's avoid landing in the shadows, shall we?
  3. Well, I don't know a thing about the steam machines, but this might help: I've got a computer that can run KSP lag free when: - no mods are installed - all textures and renders are set to the lowest quality This laptop has: 4GB RAM memory Intel Pentium core So that's the minimum hardware you're going to need. Moving on to a better computer: the laptop I'm typing this on. It can run KSP on medium quality with a tiny bit of lag when things like Environmental Visual Enhancements and Kopernicus(planet adding mod) are installed. This laptop has: Intel HD graphics 4400 Intel i3 core 6GB RAM memory So for medium-low quality lagfree gaming with a few mods (part-adding mods or mods like Chatterer or Texture Replacer are no problem), you're going to need a computer with that kind of hardware. For full-quality gaming with lots of mods, you're looking at an Intel i5 recommended, i7 for best results. The RAM should be above 7. Then the graphics, a good Intel HD graphics or Nvidia card will do. As for the Steam Machines, I don't think you should take one of those if you want to install mods. You see, mods have to be installed in the KSP directory, and the steam machines are not computers. A steam machine is basically a PS4 that instead of the PS4 software runs Steam. It therefor has no Windows or Apple software, so you can't access the KSP direcory and modify it. HOWEVER The steam machines are around $600. Well, a good computer with an i7 core is around $700-$900, so it isn't that expensive when compared to a decent steam machine. Hope this helps The White Guardian
  4. Aha! Science! Still, if it was a GRB, Kerbin got lucky. Either that, or the Kerbals are immortal. Wait... Ah, nevermind. It wasn't a GRB. Jeb destroyed Slate, he called me a few minutes ago. I don't know how a Kerbal managed to do it, but he did it.
  5. Erm... nope. GRB's are quite focused. Indeed, if one hit Slate, it'd probably hit a few other planets, but Kerbin might've actually survived, depends on Kerbin's position at the time, the trajectory of the burst, and where Slate was at the time.
  6. slate would be a very intresting enviroment with scatter like this. Well, Slate being referred to as previously being like Kerbin, I thought it'd contribute to the whole 'doomsday scenario' going on there. I mean: it suddenly lost it's atmosphere and oceans? Well, that means that something very powerful hit Slate, I'd guess a gamma ray burst, and dead trees or things that look like dead trees would really contribute to the feeling of doom and death Slate is giving off. However, I didn't mean petrified wood, I meant large, thin spikes with 'brances' making them look like trees that were suddenly turned into rocks. That, however, does not mean that I do not like the idea of these rock trees looking like petrified wood, petrified wood looks really cool. (gets an idea) Wait a minute, what did I say? Trees on Slate? Wouldn't that make an incredible easter egg? One giant tree in the middle of nowhere? Yeah, a seemingly still intact tree on an atmosphereless moon wouldn't make much sense. Perhaps a tree on Tekto? Scientists are speculating about life on Titan, so a tree or a fossil on Tekto would make an incredible easter egg. Also, it wouldn't be very diffrent from Squad's easter eggs: all I say is the 'face on Duna'... - - - Updated - - - Cool, a Sedna analogue! However, Sedna is incredibly far away, would it make much sense to put it very far away like in real life?
  7. Ah, brainstorming! Let's see... [bRAINSTORM] Hale: Large half-buried boulders here and there (impacted meteorites or pieces or Sarnus' rings that were attracted by Hale's gravity and hit the small moon.) Ovok: Perhaps large arcs or menhirs to give it a very alien look? Or egg-shaped rocks (easter eggs?!) Eeloo: Doesn't Eeloo have stock scatter already? If not, perhaps (if possible) half transparent 'rocks': water ice? Slate: Given that Slate used to look like Kerbin, perhaps large rocks that closely resemble trees? Tekto: Weird, alien spires like on Pol to give it an alien look. Polta & Priax: half-buried boulders (old meteorites), they might look a little mint-colored on... Polta was the mint colored one, right? Either way, on the mint-colored moon of Urlum. Wal: Small walnut-shaped rocks Tal: Boulders of pure gold! (For the win! ) [/bRAINSTORM] Nailed It.
  8. I've managed to turn the background of my profile into an image of Saturn. Thanks a lot!
  9. The crappiest internet that exists? I hear you, Olympic1. I am also on a vacation, and the internet here closely resemples a cow on roller skates: slow and very instable. Even though I'm going to miss this place when I'm going back home, I'm not going to miss the internet. I also have a small question: I am creating a bunch of packs for Kopernicus. When I'm done, can I add them to the Kopernicus Planets Wiki? Anyways, enjoy your vacation!
  10. Neidon's moons won't magically appear tomorrow morning, I'm afraid. Even though Neidon will get 'official' moons from the Outer Planets Mod, in the meantime, I'm collaborating with fellow Kopernicus modder Marten2Productions to create a 'fanmade' moons pack for Neidon. Though it might take some time to get a stable version (we're dealing with some nasty Kopernicus bugs here, such as moons going invisible when transforming from ScaledSpace to 'real' planet, though they are still solid), I'm the one who created the mod's maps and I can say... the moons are looking pretty good. Even though this news is not from the official Outer Planets Mod, and might not be considered 'juicy news on Neidon', I thought I should let you know that Neidon will have it's moons very soon. In the meantime, you can create a small Kopernicus script that moves a few of KSP's offical planets to an orbit around Neidon, I tried it with Dres and that actually worked. - - - Updated - - - You're moving to a new appartment? I wish you good luck! I still remember when I moved to a new house, and that came with a lot of carrying, pulling, pushing and headache.
  11. I don't know how much interest there will be in this mod, and I don't really care. It's just that I never saw a Ratchet and Clank mod for KSP/Kopernicus, so I decided to make one myself. I don't know if this mod will ever be popular, and I don't really care if it'll be popular. As long as someone out there enjoys it, it's been worth all the work.
  12. Someone else asked this already, this is what I replied: However, I've tried to install AVP Interstellar V2 and my KSP keeps crashing claiming that it 'ran out of memory'. I advise you to only install the clouds, because part of the mod replaces some stock files, and this part of the mod was designed for 0.25, so I don't think installing that in 1.0.4 would be a good idea. Other than that, I've successfully installed AVP Edge of Oblivion, and it works just fine. Hope this helps The White Guardian
  13. I believe there are no copyright issues as long as I don't claim ownership of anything that belongs to either Insomniac Games or Sony. Also, I am not using any assets from the Ratchet & Clank games: I am using screenshots from the games to re-create them as closely as possible in 3D software. Because of this, the re-created planets are actually Ratchet and Clank fan art. To give proper credit, the license will also include a disclaimer in which I, once again, underline that the planets' ideas and Ratchet and Clank in general belong to Insomniac Games. Of course, these planets belong to Insomniac games. If Insomniac Games prefers this thread (and the eventual mods) gone, I'll remove it immediatly. To Insomniac: no worries, I do not claim ownership of your incredible work and I never will.
  14. Whoa, please don't get rushed! Rushed coding equals bugs. The best way to work: work fast, but never rushed, because rushing people often make mistakes or forget things. Also, have fun on your vacation!
  15. Even though they screw up countless downloads, gotta love antivirus software. Also, excellent job solving the problems you were having! Have fun! - The White Guardian
  16. Hello everyone, The White Guardian here! I'm a big fan of the Ratchet & Clank game series, and when I learned of the Kopernicus mod, I thought: why not remake some of the planets for KSP? That's what this thread is about. However, adding all the planets featured in the Ratchet & Clank series will take an awful amount of time, so I'll let you, KSP's awesome and huge community, decide what planets you want to see in Kerbal Space Program. After a few weeks/months the poll will be closed, and I will start to re-create the four most selected planets. Another thing the community should know is that the first versions are probably far from completion. When the first 'beta' version is released, please know that it might not be entirely stable, so use at your own risk. When the first planet pack's first beta is released, a new poll will start, featuring the other planets that didn't make it through the first poll as well as four new planets. I've already voted on four planets, but now it's your turn. Vote on 1-5 planets in the poll, and select the planets you'd like to see in Kerbal Space Program. These are the planets you can vote on: Veldin - an orange, backwater, mountainous planet. The mountains provide an interesting challenge when it comes to landing, though the atmosphere is breathable and oxygen-rich, making it a nice place to use a spaceplane. Fastoon - a yellow desert planet with huge canyons and scars. The oxygen-rich environment allows the use of air-breathing engines, and the canyons provide some of the most interesting views in the whole galaxy! Orxon - a polluted, planet. The surface is black, with radioactive, green oceans and thick green clouds that hide the surface from view. Pokitaru - somewhat like Laythe in terms of gameplay, Pokitaru is basically a tropical, smaller version of Earth. The planet has very little landmass and lots of warm oceans, and the oxygen-rich atmosphere will give you a nice opportunity to use those water-landing skills of yours. Or you can use a spaceplane or excellent aiming/timing to land on one of the isles, your choice. Kreeli Comet - an icy, large comet with very irregular terrain and a somewhat large gravity well for a body it's size. The Kreeli Comet's surface releases lots of Oxygen-rich gases, giving this comet an oxygen-rich atmosphere in terms of gameplay, making this one of the most odd places in the entire game! Grelbin - an icy world with huge cliffs, though the cold atmosphere is breathable. Grelbin has lots of violent ice storms, so watch out! Add to that, the planet is not fully frozen - there are small parts still unfrozen, so watch out when trying to land! Stygia - a stormy, mountainous world. The planet's surface is hidden from view by an everlasting thunderstorm, and only the mountains reach above the clouds. Above the mountains is yet another thundercloud layer, though this one's charge is opposite to the lower clouds' charge, creating powerful discharges through the upper atmosphere. Because the universe is not that cruel, the atmosphere is breathable and allows the use of air-breathig engines. Eudora - a world covered in a dense rainforest and huge clliffs. Eudora's breathable atmosphere makes it one of the most beautiful places to fly. Smolg - a white gas giant with an interesting moonsystem. Unlike almost every other gas giant, this gas giant has an oxygen-rich atmosphere, providing a brand-new experience. Aridia - this orange-brown desert planet has a breathable atmosphere, though it is somewhat thin. Though the atmosphere is purple, it is breathable. The orange-brown surface is not that barren, though: there are oceans of purple acid here and there. No matter what: never touch that acid without at least one layer of protection to shield you from the acid, or else it'll burn right through your skin! These are the planets you're voting on. Seems interesting enough, huh? Then scroll up and select your favorites! Disclaimer I hereby claim no ownership of these planets. The eventual mod and it's maps and codes are my work, though the Ratchet and Clank franchise (including it's incredible planets) belongs to Insomniac Games. The mod, the planets' maps and their script files for Kopernicus belong to me, though. The planets' maps belong to me because they are not from the game. The planets' maps will be made using 3D software to re-create them very closely. Because of this, the resulting planets are not identical to Insomniac's planets. The planets are in fact fan art by me, and will also be featured on my DeviantArt page, 'TheWhiteGuardianArt'. However, I do not own the planets' names and the planets they're based off, those belong to Insomniac Games
  17. Ironically I'm having the same issues, but with AVP Interstellar V2, so I have to use Edge of Oblivion. To answer your question: yes, it is possible to run Edge of Oblivion. I am using: - KSP 1.0.4 - E.V.E - AVP Edge of Oblivion Hardware: Intel i3 core 8GB RAM Intel Graphics HD 4000 If your hardware is better than that, it should be able to run Edge of Oblivion.
  18. Thank you for your help. I've repeated my question in said forums.
  19. (The name of this thread is 'Ask the Mods questions about the Forums, and I have a question about the Forums, so...) Does anyone know how to set a custom profile background? Do I have to link to an online image (album), such as Imgur, or is there are an album managing feature on the KSP forums? Because according to the FAQ I had to do something over at my User Control Panel, but no 'album' option there either. Thank you in advance The White Guardian
  20. I also do not understand how to change my profile's background to a custom image. According to various guides and FAQ's I need to create an album in the User Control Panel and then add images to that album, next set one of these images as the background of my profile. The thing that I do not understand is where I need to create these albums. Thank you in advance The White Guardian
  21. Thank you for your assistance, it really helped. ... Err, I think my internet once again showed that is as stable as a cow on roller skates. Sorry!
  22. Thank you for your assistance, it really helped.
  23. Either my internet is drunk, or the OPM page describes Plock as 'Neidon (radius 2145)'. Is this a typo, or is my internet drunk again?
