[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
Nightside replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Ah cool. There is so much untapped potential in Kopernicus. I combed through your GPP configs, and I think I have a good idea on what I need to do. I assume scatter models are good old .mu files? -

Buildings! That sounds interesting, did you ever release that? That’s awesome. -
Plus you can make it yourself at home. In the gaseous state at least.

totm dec 2019 Russian Launch and Mission Thread
Nightside replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
So they say they are planning a reduced crew until the launch Nauka, no earlier than next year. So they are still planning on launching Nauka (?!). What will they launch it on? I've heard Proton is on the way out, are there any planned Proton launches currently? Is NASA paying for Nauka, or will this be Russian funded? -
[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
Nightside replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thanks, I poked in GPP and found some examples. Did you experiment with creating new scatter models at all? -
Does anyone know of a way to replace the ground scatter models or know of a mod that has done so?

Does anyone know if Kopernicus allows you to replace ground scatter objects? -
I never thought that by bringing the space race to the US, we were also bringing the cloaks and daggers of the Cold War.

Let's figure this LZ-4 problem out with a map. LZ-4 is at Vandenberg AFB (MAP). SpaceX operates out of Space Launch Complex 4 (SLC-4). SLC-4 consisted of 2 pads, 4E and 4W. 4E is the active launch site for West Coast launches, 4W has been redesignated LZ-4. SLC-3, right next door, is the home of the Atlas V. If the RTLS pad was called LZ-3 then the descending stage might accidentally land at SLC-3. Its just like when your lands over the neighbors fence, except the neighbor is ULA and the frisbee weighs 22 tonnes.

thanks for the clear explanation @Shadowmage.

Is there any benefit to having FPS > Hz? My monitor has a refresh rate of 59 Hz, is there any reason to keep FPS much higher than that?

Sierra Nevada Thread (Dream Chaser, plus!)
Nightside replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
If they don’t get much credit it may be that they don’t seek much attention. Their website is pretty targeted to military applications so much of their work is probably secret. SNC also designed the Rocket Motor 2 -for the ill-fated SpaceShip2, although the failure of that craft was not related to the engines. Does anyone know how Dream Chaser compares to the x37b? -
Did BO offer free 2-day delivery?

The plan sounds a lot like Starlink.

You will probably have to ask on the Realism Overhaul thread regarding the changes that mod makes.- 966 replies

It sounds like the “skate” is basically a Tesla minibus. It seems like they are designing the requirements so that only Tesla can supply the vehicles. It could be that they hope the “skates” might be able to leave the loop and service secondary destinations. @YNM, it says somewhere that they will use the Tesla model X chassis.

We try our best , but Mr Musk makes it very difficult.

I guess they will have to transport it there by ship right? Is there any way to bring such a wide load over land from California to Texas?

JAXA (& other Japanese) Launch and Discussion Thread
Nightside replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think a month of delays still feels better than a launch failure though. -
I almost forgot about Boca Chica. What does the poster mean about reversal of purpose?
-
He’s definitely planning to steal his own spaceship.

Come to think of it, Elon has been acting a lot like Zaphod Beeblebrox lately. Shotwell better keep a tight hold of the keys to the BFS come launch day.

@YNM, I’m not so sure about that, they refer to 2 other potential projects (in LA and DC) as “Loops”. I believe they are using it as a precursor to “hyperloop”. There is actually quite a lot of information on their website these days. A big change from when it was just a flammable toy store.
