I would love to see exploration of these vast cave systems. As long as we can keep the exogorths away the caverns can be of great use.

I can just see it: We finally get that part overhaul everybody's been pleading for, and then they find out all their propeller planes and tanks don't work anymore and there's a wave of complaints even though those things are as unintended in the stock game as Kraken drives. Anyway, this tank is really spectacular. There is so much in this game that is possible if you use parts in unconventional ways!

Full-size Imperial Star Destroyer
cubinator replied to cubinator's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
TIE Fighters are pretty small. Think of it this way: The Runway is 70 m wide. A TIE Fighter is about 7 m wide. So you could fit about 9 TIEs side to side in a runway-width hangar, and the hangar can be rectangular to fit 9x8=72 TIEs and hey--that's how many fighters a Star Destroyer typically has, and it fits on a tiny portion of the runway! That's kind of packed, though, so if you've got a few more hangars on the two sides there's plenty of room for a squadron. Maybe you should make a few scale TIE Fighters to fly around next to it with while I don't get around to it! I still have to get to the Tantive IV and don't have time for it right now i have an essay i was supposed to be doing these past two weeks and i definitely wasn't playing Undertale all day today , but this ship will eventually turn into a fleet or two. (Geez, the Rebel spaceships are so weirdly shaped...)- 11 replies

Ooh, nice! I kind of like the way it looks like it's coming out of hyperspace now though.- 11 replies

Ethyl cyanoacrylate!

Can't just make a Destroyer without going the extra mile and replicating the opening scene, you know! I've already got three tabs open on it.

Ok, that makes sense.

This is my first. My next replica will come straight from Eadu with this on it's tail, though, not from the Imperial fleet.

In TweakScale/Examples.cfg, there is a thing that talks about scaling entire ships. I will experiment with Ctrl+K on the root part, and keep it in mind for the next time I make a ridiculously huge ship. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, it turns out the runway is longer than a Star Destroyer. It's always nice to get a feel for just how big these things are in comparison with objects we're familiar with. Indeed there was. I created it!

Only 191 parts! TweakScale is a powerful ally...

Full-size Imperial Star Destroyer
cubinator replied to cubinator's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Gee, it's almost like I made the ship in a small scale, took the ratio of it's size to the real thing, and carefully tweaked each individual part's scale to be as close to that ratio as possible! Currently I don't have any crew modules in it, but I'll do some close-ups soon. I'm planning on using the Hangar mod to add places for 72 TIE fighters in the future. And, of course, now I feel obligated to make a full size Tantive IV as well.- 11 replies

Nope. Actually, it's 80 cm too long! Imperial Star Destroyers are 1600 m long, and this one was carefully crafted to that scale, part by part.
-
It's not totally finished, there are still some details to work out, but it's a full-scale Star Destroyer made using TweakScale and Hangar Extender. I may add lasers and hangars in the future, and will probably add some hidden hover engines, but for now this giant will have to suffice. Even Hangar Extender wasn't big enough for the thing, so I had to edit the settings. Read the description on KerbalX for complete instructions and download. https://kerbalx.com/cubinator/Imperial-Star-Destroyer *cough* *cough* Enjoy.

This is what I did today:

Here are the papercrafts from the Kerbal Kalendar event, only now in KSP itself! This is my first upload to KerbalX, and is more of a test than anything else. The real deal, the 1.6 km long reason I made the account, is still on the way. https://kerbalx.com/cubinator/Kerbal-Kalendar-Papercrafts

Granted. All parts now have the physical properties of gelatin. I wish I could change the scale of all the parts in my ship at once, and keep their relative scales.
-
Is there a way to scale an entire ship at once? I have a ship I built at a small scale to resize once it's complete, but I don't really want to have to scale 200 precisely placed parts individually to turn a 12 m ship into a 1600 m ship. Edit: I think I found it, now to figure out how to use it... Edit 2: The option found in "Examples" does not have enough instruction. Proceeding with the slow method. Edit 3: I've finally finished scaling every individual part! It would have been nice to be able to scale the whole ship, though. Will post soon-ish in the Spacecraft Exchange.
