  1. I've been playing with Space Engine, and the new black holes show warping realistically. I have been experimenting, flying by and into black holes, and I found that the universe seems to invert itself as you fall into it, and you see a disc with all the stars and around you is blackness. Then the disc shrinks to nothing. Here is a series of images showing a descent: My question is: Is this the event horizon? Or is this the event horizon? If I shined a laser towards the disc here: Would the laser escape? Clearly light can enter this far, but am I actually inside the black hole, past the point of no return? Space Engine indicates that I'm still some distance from the black hole's surface, but it's a little wonky with these objects.
  2. o_o that is not how you hold a tuba
  3. The ship is entering the atmosphere but it's not going fast enough for plasma! Your Minmus base is suddenly orbiting Bop with no apparent reason and no propulsion system that could have gotten it there.
  4. Granted. They now take the floor with them as they sink rapidly, and you fall to the center of Earth. I wish for a space-grade rover.
  5. The only thing I wonder about Death Star: Planet Edition Starkiller Base is how they keep the atmosphere out of that gigantic gaping hole? and also why they had another X-wing sized hole leading to the most important part as if they hadn't learned their lesson yet, and also why it was basically the exact same movie as A New Hope All other aspects of it's function I will leave at 'Star Wars Magic' because, you know, it's Star Wars and it's not supposed to be that realistic.
  6. Only the ones from Superliminal. http://superliminal.com/cube/solution/solution.htm I found they work pretty well. The page labeled "Still Stuck?" has a couple of other algorithms that may be helpful.
  7. Cool. I agree. Maybe one rock is doable, but drawing all the hundreds of rocks in the near area would be awful.
  8. "So. I blew myself up." -The Martian Required exactly zero changes and is 100% relevant to KSP.
  9. I became lucid for just a minute last night. I was having a normal dream, involving landing some kind of science lander (resemblant of the large Duna probe I had landed that day) on a planet which was kind of a cross between Laythe (looked like it from orbit) and Dr. Mann's planet (looked like it on the surface). Just after I had landed, I saw literally thousands of astronauts in spacesuits (resemblant of those in Interstellar, notice a theme?) appear across the entire circle of the horizon, all walking towards me. It was kind of creepy, as I couldn't see through their face plates. When I saw it, I thought "Holy &#^$ that can't be real" as kind of an involuntary reality check. I then teleported to my bed, completely aware that I was dreaming and that I was moving my dream body. I would have stayed in this very stable state if I had not forgotten a minute later that I was in complete control. It seems that getting to the lucid state is getting easier, the problem for me is staying that way.
  10. Having tried the Billiards Planet Pack, I can (somewhat) confirm this. The planets become invisible when you get close to them, and only reappear when you get inside their excruciatingly tiny spheres of influence. It doesn't calculate the flybys quite right in map view, but that's not physics. I haven't noticed any physics problems, but I'm sure if you made them much smaller some very interesting problems would arise.
  11. Is that an edited Apollo image, or are you just really good at rocks?
  12. CHAPTER IX: SUNRISE! Roman numerals are cool and all, but they start to get weird at this point. Maybe I'll post the next chapter number in binary. Anyways, Jeb and Tanlina have seen the last of the darkness for a while, although it seems that the sun has set at the landing site, so they'll be seeing another sunset and the rover will have to go through more accidental cliff jumping eventually. *sigh* I really should have had the foresight to land on the morning side of the Mun... I guess I should just be glad to be in the sunlight again, at least for a while. Next time: More driving, and probably much less falling into craters, because now I can see the craters! Yay sunlight!
  13. Oh, so it's bad to put it there? Hmm...That might have been good to know a couple months ago. Oh well, mine is chugging along pretty well, with only two out of four RTGs left and a third of the way around!
  14. Gee, uh...getting a lot of likes lately...hmm...guess I should post more here... CHAPTER VIII: 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 Here are some pics that I forgot to post earlier. It was pretty much the usual...Drove around a couple of craters and into many more, quicksaved a few times and may have quickloaded a few times too...nothing too exciting. I'm going to avoid the mare this time instead of driving right through it. I'm also coming up on the sunlit side quickly, so soon I will be able to look ahead to find craters instead of checking whether or not I'm falling!
  15. I just got a couple new ones yesterday... The images in question:
  16. You know you're a nerd when you constantly think about how you're trapped in a paper-thin reality surrounded by a completely unknown and deadly hyperspace on all sides.
  17. Woo! Found one! Xanthippe Literally the ONLY one with a real name that was in Space Engine.
