What have you been the first to discover in KSP?
cubinator replied to kmMango's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I was the first to complete the Jool-5 ISRU challenge, and I think I was one of the first to build a SSTM ISRU ship that can go pretty much anywhere in the solar system. -

When you think is really cool when you have an idea for the first time ever ("Wow, I'm sure I've never said the phrase 'shard of plastic' before today!") and you think of the endless possibilities of ideas that can be had but never have been...the infinite wonders of the human mind that are yet to be unlocked... ...even though most of it is crap (If you turned Stalin into a Dalek, it would be a Stalek!) (It's too bad that 'Hitler' doesn't fit well with 'Dalek', because they have a lot in common...)

For those that don't know about this already, this thread is about 4-dimensional analogues to Rubik's Cube and other twisty puzzles. I am (obviously) a speedcuber, but I have yet to successfully solve a 4-dimensional twisty puzzle. I tried the Magic Cube 4D phone app several months ago, and got pretty far along in solving it, but I got lost at the part in the instructions regarding 4-color pieces. At that point I drifted away from such puzzles. Today I decided to try the computer version of the app, and I discovered that it allows one to select from a plethora of hyperdimensional twisty puzzles, not just the 3x3x3x3 simulated by the phone version. I decided to try my hand at the 2x2x2x2, as it should be much simpler. I managed to get 5 pieces aligned, but now I'm stuck. Unfortunately, even though it only has one type of piece, it happens to be the one piece I least understand . This is a cool brainteaser for anyone who wants to have their mind bent (or should I say 'extruded'?).

A very successful airline, then I can convince people more easily to expand it into a space program. Also, planes are cool! Would you rather be teleported to a random place on Earth's land surface, or be able to teleport to the place of your choice anywhere in the ocean at least 5 km from land?

...which observes radio stations. The building is an igloo...

Deaf with no taste. At least I can still look at the stars! Would you rather go across the Atlantic in a sailboat or across Antarctica in a...uh...wheeled sailboat? (Apparently a real thing)
-
I would get out some binoculars and look at it from way out here in the suburbs. What if Earth's rotation rate started speeding up by 50% each day? (Fairly sure this is safe but noticeable acceleration, but it's too late at night to do the math)

Weird. I don't remember ever having enough fuel to return from the Mun after landing...Maybe Bob packed too many snacks and it was weighed down.

Can anyone figure out what's wrong with this article?

This is why I don't read the news. -
Are your savegames KSP or KSM (Kerbal Space Mission)?
cubinator replied to Octa's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've currently got one save for my Mun Elcano run, and another save for other stuff (currently I'm working on an SSTO spaceplane). -

I wonder if deploying and retracting several of them in the right way would allow for a vehicle that 'crawls'? -
Community interest in Gas planet 2
cubinator replied to LethalDose's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think more planets are not essential to the game, no matter how interesting and fun those new destinations would be. The Kerbol system doesn't need to be just like ours. If there were to be a planet overhaul, I would suggest: -Rings around Eve -Volcanism and cryovolcanism (maybe a huge geyser on Eeloo's south pole, like Enceladus?) -A proper asteroid belt between Duna and Jool (and also possibly things like comets in highly elliptical orbits) -
Here are some interesting ones I've found lately:

I think it didn't have enough before the atmo overhaul, but now it takes less to get to orbit. I haven't played much with the stock ships in a while.
-
Wait...you didn't get back from Mun, right? I'm fairly sure the Kerbal X has enough delta-V to return from Minmus, but not enough for the Mun. I know the feeling of playing KSP for the first time in a month...it's really nice, to say the least.

@worir4 That's some professional image pasting there!

On a planet, because the planet has a 1 in 1 000 000 000 000 000 ish chance of being Earth. Also, resources. Would you rather be stuck at the top floor of a collapsing skyscraper or the bottom floor of the same collapsing skyscraper?

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
cubinator replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When you look at the yellow plastic thing on power line anchors and you think it's a fuel duct. I could have sworn one of them I drove by today had those black arrows showing which way it flows... -
Yes, I was just thinking that. The subject of interdimensional gravity is for another thread, in Science & Spaceflight. Keep Playing: If KSP has been idle for too long, this mod will play the sound of someone yelling at you to get back to work. It yells at you about different things depending on what you were doing when you left the game idle. Keep Playing+: Uses your webcam to tell if you're looking at the game, and sternly tells you to watch your screen if you look away. If you try to turn down your volume, it plays Nyan Cat nonstop for an hour really loudly and disables all inputs. Also yells at you when you quit the game.
