  1. No, they're all the same thing. All light beams follow a straight path through space, no matter how big they are. The difference is that we can see a few of them, and most often call those ones "colors". I refer to the others as colors, too, because they're the same thing.
  2. Vending machine collapses into a small rotating vending machine. Inserts bread crumbs.
  3. I did bounce off of Jool one time using infinite fuel...
  4. 1. I can make a stone so heavy I can't lift it. There, it's settled. 2. There is a teapot orbiting the sun near Mars. 3. No parasites. 4. Portals are easy and fun! 5. All subjects intending to handle high energy gamma-leaking portal technology must be informed that they may be informed of applicable regulatory compliance issues. No further compliance information is required or will be provided, and you are an excellent test subject.
  5. "One, two, FIVE!" "Three, sir!" "THREE!" *lobs grenade at bunny*
  6. I'm pretty sure they're not desperate for revenue at all, considering they still have 120 years or so of being able to shovel 1 billion dollars per year into the company.
  7. Pick up that can, Mist-er Freeman...pick up that...can. Not that I wish to imply you have been littering on the job. No one is more deserving of a soda, and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until...well, let's just say your hour has come again. The right can in the wrong place can make all the dif-ference in the world. So pick up that can, Mr. Freeman. Pick up that can, and put it in the trash can.

      planet-creations

Is that to the tune of one of the Vehicle Editor music tracks?

  8. I've been approved to do some Science! by my university! I will be building a bug farm and determining how well it would work on Mars based on what happens with it on Earth.
  9. Suggestion: padded ceilings on all the landers...Astronauts will want to practice jumping.
  10. Surface tension, obviously. Water is as strong as concrete.
  11. I want to do science and build stuff, I'm like a Bob or Bill type.
  12. I was thinking earlier, perhaps just a little overoptimistically, that if Starship pans out as a Moon lander in Artemis, NASA's going to start needing a lot of new astronauts right around the time I become qualified.
  13. Will revive the astrophotography thread by one-upping everyone with a 16-pixel photo of the Sun.
  14. I'm thinking of building a radio telescope. Any old satellite TV antenna can be used to detect natural signals and, if placed on an appropriate scanning mount, could be made to produce photos. I figure I can at the very least get a picture of the Sun with cheap rudimentary equipment and Jeb's Junkyard-caliber parts.
  15. Whoops, you clicked the wrong thread.
  16. "WARNING VITAL SIGNS CRITICAL SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION" -Half Life 3
  17. Is the fuel on this thing meant to be LH2+LO2? I know it's hard to contain, but it's what NASA wants to try to manufacture from moon ice, so I wonder if any of the contracted landers will use it as the primary fuel.
  18. My rule of thumb is: If it ever shows me an unsolicited video ad, it's not worth my time. These games are few and far between. I have very few games on my phone aside from a bunch of simple physics sandboxes and computational eye candy. Powder game, Langton's Ant, some fluid simulators, Minesweeper, a couple of other apps where you watch particles fly around the screen...Aside from that only a couple 'real' mobile games.
  19. Looks like the ISS and Dragon will be visible over the US in the evening after the launch. Perhaps they should encourage people to go outside and watch that, given that watching the launch in person is not such a good idea.
  20. Today I learned about the three different Moon landers that are being incorporated into Artemis, and got very excited about the moon landings that will start happening very soon with them. I also got an email saying I should be expecting an award letter for a research proposal I made - Presumably, this means I'll be able to do my project soon. I'll be giving a planetarium show to some classes online next week.
  21. To have more stuff around the Moon! Just make it bigger since they're using Starship... Elon Musk is talking on NASATV about Starship-Artemis right now! https://www.nasa.gov/nasalive
  22. At least one person wants it. And at least one person thinks we should survive the death of Earth in 800,000,000 years.
