  1. Well alrighty then :| Side note, i got warp drive to work on my ship. The animation for the bubble hasn't changed sadly so it looks a little weird but it works flawlessly. Got her to Duna for a quick test flight. Kinda stinks, i wish this would put you into a orbit right out of the gate but alas, than it would be too OP.
  2. Ok, that sounds doable. I've never really used Real Ships before so i don't really know how it works.
  3. Stock Star Trek Ship Replicas This topic will obviously center around Star Trek and all the amazingly cool Star Ships seen in the series. Come here to post you best replica and get building tips from others. I have been silently monitoring the craft posts on the forum and kerbalX and have noticed a recent, unprovoked influx of Star Trek themed craft from all skill levels. I have decided to take advantage of this sudden interest and post a topic about it where people can come to post their creations. I hope this thread doesn't die for all of our sake. Here is my example. USS Kelvin NCC-0514 The amazing Excelsior. Built by @Azimech Alcubierre Warp Drive mod is recommended to make your ships have warp functionality. HAPPY STARSHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Hmmm. How would computers be able to handle "real" scale ships that maintain the destruction effects from multi part craft? Are those torpedos modded or completely stock? Ya i am going to start a starship topic. I can put the Excelsior in the OP if you want. Either way come post it in there. I think this topic could get big.
  5. No i've never played that game. I think i am just going to edit the config for the 0.625 meter warp drive so that it can fit in my ship and will still encase the entire thing. When you finish your mod i will definitely download it. Yo BTW, we should start a topic that is completely star trek ships and spacedocks. Requirements are that you ship must have at least 1000 parts and actually work without any mods.
  6. He did say that you are allowed to adjust the bubble size and the warp factor. Seems like that could be a lot easier.
  7. Fixed it https://www.dropbox.com/s/qbkj08rtclwd59y/USS Kelvin.craft?dl=0
  8. Here is link to currently the most supported warp mod to my knowledge: Heres the ship: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qbkj08rtclwd59y/USS Kelvin.craft?dl=0 I have the struts placed like zippers on all the main load bearing points. I.E. the supports for both hull sections. They are also placed strategically inside the saucer. I also found this great comparison diagram of all the important Starships from the series. You can see the USS Kelvin in the bottom left.
  9. Darn, since she only appears briefly in the series as Jim Kirk's father's ship that he crashed into the Narada, there is not much technical information on it. The only thing i could gather is that it has "at least 13 decks." making it significantly smaller than the current USS Enterprise. Also looking at pictures of the shuttle bay you can better gauge the scale of the ship. I had to stick a ton of struts on the upper and lower hulls so it wouldnt bend like crazy on launch and could run at full throttle without much trouble from the crappy KSP noodle joints. Part count before strutting was around 900. I have not tried any explosion tests yet because my puny laptop is already struggleing and i think explosions would just make it worse. It is all also attached to a root part right under the bridge so if i hit that everything would just explode because of part clipping on the surface of the saucer. Plus, the upper and lower hulls are made of fairings so nothing too interesting would happen there. Inside the fairings is just a couple fuel tanks and two mainsails. I know, chemical rocket on a Starship? What?!?! Well obviously there is no warp drive in KSP and the only mod that provides it doesnt work with more than one drive running at a time on the same craft. Since the whole thing has to be encased in a warp bubble, i would need multiple warp rings which dont look good on a star ship anyway.
  10. These parts look good, but i am kind of confused at the actual purpose of this mod. The OP is not very descriptive and the spacedock page has even less.
  11. USS Kelvin NCC-0514 No where near completion. I need to do a lot of work mostly on the lighting and the shape of the saucer. Currently it has 1900 m/s of DV in the main engines and 600 m/s of DV in the impulse engines. No where near warp drive but i'm working on it XD Current part count of 1,171 Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qbkj08rtclwd59y/USS Kelvin.craft?dl=0
  12. USS Kelvin NCC-1701 No where near completion. I need to do a lot of work mostly on the lighting and the shape of the saucer. Currently it has 1900 m/s of DV in the main engines and 600 m/s of DV in the impulse engines. No where near warp drive but i'm working on it XD Current part count of 1,171
  13. Found it. USS Kelvin, Kelvin Class: Seen in "Star Trek" (2009)
  14. Mine is going to be a replica of the ship with a engine above and below the saucer. Seems easy to start with. I forget what that exact class of ship is called though.
  15. ewww shame SEEE! THE STAR TREK MOVEMENT HAS BEEN SET IN MOTION PRAISE STAR FLEET AND THEIR AMAZING CONTRAPTIONS
  16. @Azimech I monitor the craft posts on KerbalX and the forums and i have noticed a recent influx in Star Trek themed ships. I am working on one myself and thought it was weird how many people started making them at the same time as well.
  17. @Columbia You should stick a ring antenna under the fuselage like it is on the real thing.
