  1. I know. I've been talking with him for a year. There is no way gear can be produced for this plane. Even if they are retractable they will have no where to be stored. The wings are not thick enough to house the legs and they are not designed with a space inside anyway. I think the over sized hinges would just make it look really weird from underneath. When i first started making the pieces of the pane i originally made some gear that would probably fit but i determined that they would not be practical for the aircraft. Not reliable enough and not good looking. The only way i could add gear is too use tweakscale.
  2. Incredible man. You should go into career in graphic design.
  3. I tried redesigning my secondary hull. Needs a lot of work to say the least.
  4. Megic @Azimech You got shredded in this topic holy crap that was almost as bad as what happened in the other thread.
  5. I hope you guys realize that any sort car that has a functional transmission will be several thousand parts and have probably 10 separate that have to work in perfect unison. How are yall gonna make that happen.
  6. I've been following this thread for a while and i don't remember that. Seems like it would just lead to a more complicated frame assembly. It would need more struts and a higher overall part count. Though i guess the wider "shaft" might reduce vibration. Either way i've taken a break from turboprops. I have accomplished most of what i set out to do. Make a effective engine and beat the speed record. Which i did twice. I'm gonna only be giving advice in this thread for the foreseeable future as i will focus my work efforts on my Star Trek replicas for the great star trek bandwagon of 2016 thread that i started. Plus school just started so i have way less time for KSP anyway.
  7. Ya but i am going for "realistic" proportions rather than a actual scale size. My puny laptop doesn't have a dedicated GPU so i am amazed that i can even run the game let alone play a 1000+ part craft. If i wanted to make 1:6 scale 2009 Enterprise like the Excelsior it would be well over 3000 parts and would kill my game. I like building them to look good as much as i love flying them and having them actually work. So far it will be about the same size or a little bigger than my Kelvin model but hopefully it will look magnitudes better in terms of detail and proportions. It's at about 750 parts right now and for some reason i'm getting a lot of micro freezes which is a lot worse than lag so i might hold off for a little while. Or at least assemble it in sections and attach the all like puzzle pieces like i did with my 777. Hopefully 1.2 will be even better in terms of high part count support. If your still looking into how to built your warp nacelles, i suggest starting with clipping several Mk1 fuselages into each other to form the rectangle you need for the proper shape. Might be a good place to start at least. Your saucer, or saucer-oid, is looking good. I too am struggling with the lighting system. I can't get my deflector dish to reflect blue light as well as the surrounding parts. I am sticking with aerospikes as my impulse engine's though. I want my ships to be functional.
  8. I am wrapping up development of the Kelvin because there is not much more i can do without a massive redesign. Now i am working on my next great ship. the USS Enterprise. Specifically the 2009 version because that is my personal favorite design in the entire series. Here it is so far. Looking good so far. I took a lot of design tips from my trial and error design of the Kelvin to produce this much cleaner and more accurate star ship. I take great pride in my design on the saucer and shape of the throat so far. The secondary hull needs some detail still and i need to put the Nacelles on but so far it's looking great.
  9. If you could review one or both of these craft i would appreciate it. KJR is required for the Boeing 777 but not the USS Kelvin. Otherwise they are both stock. Download links are in the OP of both threads.
  10. Yo can you make a quick render of my Boeing 777 please? Maybe one of it at cruising alt or in a climb. Thanks! Theres the main topic and download link.
  11. @RogueMason Very cool! That looks awesome! But, if we could keep this thread to Star Trek only replica ships i would appreciate it. It looks like you shouldn't have to hard a time building a replica though, as you already have that awesome ship! @pTrevTrevs Theres some dimensions.
  12. Wait are you making your engine inverted? With the wheels attached to the driveshaft?
  13. The best way to stop your shaft from falling out would be to use a thrust bearing made of I-beams. Always keep your wheels straight and parallel to your driveshaft or you will get problems. I used a double thrust bearing for incredible reliability and power on this plane
  14. Ya it will probably be a ton easier to balance and fly. Part count might be a lot higher though because it has more "modules."
  15. We are not here to govern what you make. You don't have to ask. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| USS Kelvin NCC-0514 This time equipped with some reactors and electric engines from NEAR Future parts. I think it's a cool effect.
  16. Very true lol. I have only been active on the forums for about a years but to my knowledge this is the first time there has been more than a handful of people all intersted in the same topic at the same time. Plus, it wasn't a group effort. I ton of people all kind of gradually started building star trek themed craft at the same time, unprovoked.
  17. HAHAH YES FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS STAR TREK MOVEMENT IS THE GREATEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED
  18. I seem to have made a mistake somewhere when editing the config XD
