Should Trojan planets be called... Planets?
Spaceception replied to Spaceception's topic in Science & Spaceflight
not binary planets, Trojan planets, lots of them, I was just showing that picture to show that many, many planets in the HZ are possible. A scientist made that "Ultimate solar system" btw https://planetplanet.net/2014/05/13/building-the-ultimate-solar-system/ -
What will life be like on colonies in the solar system.
Spaceception replied to daniel l.'s topic in Science & Spaceflight
Dude, awesome website design, I like the fact that you put "Wanderers" into it as well As for ideas, I think you should just move throughout the star system, and eventually the stars, maybe the Moon or Mars next? Great job so far!- 149 replies

Well, if that's the case, that means he thinks I suggested a manned Mars flyby, which I didn't.- 453 replies

Well... Seeing as it's all their stuff, and not commercial, they may do it on time, plus this is going to be in 2 years, a lot can happen in 2 years. Also, video! Yeah... 3 people, For Apollo 8, and a trip that took less than a week.- 453 replies

4 people to Mars? For a 1 - 1 1/2 year long mission? And a capsule or 2 the size of SUV's? Mark managed it, yes, but he was only 1 guy, and he knew that he would be saved if he did it, plus he was on a planet, not free space, so when he went outside, he was (Relatively) safe.- 453 replies

Highly unlikely, for one, there aren't any people trained for something like that, and I'm pretty sure SpaceX isn't going to do manned flybys, when they're ready to put humans on Mars, they'll likely go for landings right off the bat.- 453 replies

A few years ago, I didn't think that brown dwarfs were interesting, but a few months ago, I've started to become quite fond of them. Anyway, what kind of life could take hold on brown dwarfs? I believe they would rely on the infrared spectrum, but what other properties would it have? Do brown dwarfs have a habitable zone? I mean, they have temperatures of 2000 k upwards. How big is it? and how long would it last? How long would the possible life be able to live before the brown dwarf cooled to the point of any possible planets freezing over? What's the minimum size for a brown dwarf containing life bearing planets? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_dwarf Pics below from Space Engine! (Google images ftw!!)

Should Trojan planets be called... Planets?
Spaceception replied to Spaceception's topic in Science & Spaceflight
But if they were Trojan planets of say roughly the same size, that would mean there are 2 dominant objects in the same orbit, and the dominant object would only be dominant by a little bit. But instead of binary planets in different orbits, I mean the maximum amount of the same sized planets in the same orbit. -
Okay, here's the thing, before I give you the info that was in the title, here's the IAU's classification of a planet; 1: The planet must orbit a star(s) 2: It must be roundish 3: It must have cleared its orbit And 4: It cannot be a Moon So with all of these criteria, would planets that are in Trojan orbit's be classified planets? Or not? And if they were considered planets, that would mean rule 3 for being a planet would be changed, as technically, the orbit's of the planets wouldn't be clear. Additionally, would counter planets be stable if they had the right conditions? And how many earth sized planets could fit in Earth's orbit before everything got really unstable? And what about Earth sized moons in a Trojan orbit of a gas giant? And if (Theoretically) say, the IAU were stubborn, and wouldn't change what a planet was like, wouldn't that mean the gas giant would be a "Dwarf planet"?
