Mk1 bay and mk1 cockpit change
rocketbuilder replied to TheAbsoluteDoge's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
A mk1 bay would be nice, but for SSTO's that have to deploy satelites. The mk1 cockpit looks really cool in my opinion, but opinion. -
Sending data with RemoteTech?
rocketbuilder replied to ToukieToucan's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Have you tried this? -
I try to base my builds around aesthetics and will go a few funds futher to make it look nice, but mass usually wins out. A a, B b because it also can carry a kerbal.
-
For up to 20 day missions 1 seat per kerbal, 20 - 60 1.5 seats per kerbal, and then I impose rules on where I'm going. If I go close to Jool, radation levels will be high and I have to take a few tonnes of water (fuel that I'm not allowed to use) to protect myself. SNACKS! For my duna mission I had 4 kerbals going to duna and 16 seats due to the length. For long missions you can't have only 2 kerbals on their own. No nuke parts hitting objects. Every now and then there is a solar flare and kerbals cannot be outside of ; a habitat on duna, interplanatery asteroid base (shielded inside the asteroid), kerbin space station, kerbin atmosphere, laythe atmosphere and certain space stations around large bodies with active cores. No reverts! Everyone has to be rescued. And try not to explode.

Yeah, look at the comments below the article. Most of them about ksp. EDIT : Calling ksp hyper realistic! Ksp is there to be fun and I think it teaches people about our world, but the thrill of having fuel tanks explode and landing legs fall off and then landing an assemetric low fuel spacecraft on another world your kerbals have never stepped onto is certanly not mundane. Ksp is one of least mundane games actually - as Hotaru said GTA and Skyrim are (sometimes on the charts with real time flights across the world) and only rarely actually more action filled than ksp.

2.5 meter plane parts
rocketbuilder replied to Snikersnee's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
2.5m cockpits, cargo bays, engines, LF only fuel tanks, large radial intakes - you would need allot. B-29, B-52, B-70. -
Probe size heat shields
rocketbuilder replied to lukeoftheaura's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It's a good idea - just put the science parts on the top and it would be stable on reentry (according to what larger sizes "say"). -
Yes, I do that too.
-
Not buggy, you just didn't attach the boosters to the decopolars proubally. A pic would be helpfull.
-
Don't follow this - I tested it and the spacecraft will fall forward and the terrier will push the spacecraft towards the ground - and it won't survive re-entry.
-
It won't work - that sort of craft is aerodynamically stable prograde and is first to streamlined to slow down enough and second your rocket won't be facing towards space. Edit: Just tested it - mk1 doesn't survive a 30 km periapsis from the mun without a heat shield. Either you get a rescue, or you turn re-entry heat down and bring a heat shield next time!

He's on science mode so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm guessing you can't get into low kerbin orbit with that amount of fuel, but try get into as circular orbit as possible. Leave a bit of fuel to get home, and then at apogee burn retrograde until your perigee is 30km. EVA Jeb and collect all the science from the science modules and store it in the capsule. Reenter with only the capsule and at about 3km jump out. Turn on Jebs RCS pack and thrust upwards as hard as you can - you should slow down to about 35 m/s and hope that Jeb doesn't go poof. EDIT: Fearless sons plan will work, but a highly elliptical rendezvous is difficult to do - you'll never have enough fuel to circulise the orbit.

I just realised that this new spaceplane looks quite like the evil spaceplane polited by kenlie...

I don't care about debris, but I won't smash nuclear devices. I will clear up debris on smaller objects-I learnt that the hard way.

As said, the dragyness and gravity turn not being go up to 10k and turn right. With those massive flat tipped pancake rockets used on 0.90 the DV required for orbit now is about 4500, but a rocket that looks like a falcon 9 or atlas v will take only 3200-3400. I saw that someone did it with 2800 even.

Yes! And it woudn't be distructible because the amount of funds spent on repairing that launchpad with attempts at 1st stage landing is insane. Spacex can't use parachutes only as the stage won't survive reentry (they tried it on falcon 1) and if a big gust of wind it the pad just before landing... Sea landing smashes the rocket and destroys the engines.

No, precoolers don't do much other than air, but even 2 turbojets can run of a precooler.
-
The shock cone intake has the least drag, but for mk2 and mk1 it has wayyyy too much air for any engine.

I just noticed I had hyperedit installed - I didn't use it, only for the Jool Dipper challenge. Mods used: KJR,KER,RLA and EVE Hyperedit not used!
