Hi. My only tip is don’t send Kerbals. Make it a permanent weather station. Personally I never go there. ME
-
@Refreshpage Bummer. Question. When you saw it gone did the game just delete it and let the contract run till failure? (My guess) Or instantly give you a failure? I was going to try to recreate that circumstance and see for myself. For science's sake. Hum. I think I will try anyway. I am running 1.12.5 so I guess I will fail. ME EDIT: Tried in sandbox and the sat gets deleted every time. Tried warping at the space center from a craft orbiting Duna. Looking or not it disappears.
-
HI @Refreshpage Just a thought. As far as I know orbiting things (In the game, not real world objects) are on rails and if you don’t look at them they will not collide with anything. You can figure how long it will take to be on the other side of the Mun and catch it going back up. Not exactly sure of the mechanisms. Maybe go to the space center and warp to a later date to see it on the other side. On the subject of impossible contracts for a while every time I got a satellite contract I make it a constellation by having 8 mini sats. They are just dumped and made to spread out and help with future probe relaying. I renamed them as I dumped them. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc. Well I keep getting offer to reposition them.....they have zero delta-V. ME

Hi. Hard to tell without a picture. It could be a few things. Are the panels in a fairing? Did the probe run out of power before you deployed them? I have had panels destroyed in atmosphere or because of fairing deployment and they just aren't there anymore. ME
-
Hi welcome to the forum. That you get all the requirements specified in the contract. When you are on the launch pad you can you can click the contract button and see was is ticked green. If "must have an antenna" isn't green then there is no point to launch. If an orbit is mentioned you must match it close enough. In the correct direction. We all have done a contract going the wrong way. Or place the satellite with specific equipment in the orbit of another contract. ME

Why does Tylo airless but then Duna has an atmosphere?
Martian Emigrant replied to Gradysadome's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well..... Laythe's atmosphere. We don't know that it contains oxygene We know that it can oxydize fuel (We don't know what the "Fuel" is) and not kill Kerbals but we don't even know if Kerbals breathe. We know nothing of their alien physiology. We know they can't Live in vacuum or be exposed to Eve's atmosphere. Whatever Laythes atmosphere contain could be the bi-products of life, volcanism, outgassing of the chemicals in the crust or core. Maybe that atmosphere is temporary and will escape to space in the next 1000 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ul7zL-R3J4 ME -
Why does Tylo airless but then Duna has an atmosphere?
Martian Emigrant replied to Gradysadome's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The real reason is ........ it's not real. It's a game. It is not a simulator of what a real system would look like. The Julian system should be unstable and have only Tylo or Laythe in it. Make your own reasons why. Maybe Tylo was an errant planetoid that came too close to Jool and had its tenuous atmosphere ripped away by tidal forces. Tylo could have been destroyed and survived only by random luck. Then it got slowed down by Laythe to achieve a capture by Jool and got in the resonant orbits we know. Or perhaps it used to orbit very close to to Kerbol and had it's atmosphere boiled off before a close encounter with Eve that sent it on a very close encounter with Jool. Enjoy the game. ME -
Hi all. Been putsing about with my career game now that all techs are unlocked and got plenty of cash to play around. Sent a Pony-a-naut on a solar chair to Minmus from LKO. ME

KSP wont load, need some help
Martian Emigrant replied to inbound's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Hi @inbound Welcome to the forum. If you think your mods corrupted something then perhaps it is the case. I think you might have no choice but to delete and do a fresh reinstall of KSP. ME -
Hi @Levelord I have not gotten into my account in a while. I did upgrade (Move/Whatever) my account at the time. I barely know what Steam is. Like you when refreshing my PC I would download the latest and greatest. Currently I have 1.12.5 If I recall well the forum would have a "Store" Button. Gone it is. So (To me) right now there doesn't seem to be a way to log into it. The login button is gone. I did find this page https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/games-kerbal-space-program with a "My account" button but when pushed it redirect to ads. So.....I guess I can't forget or lose my old drives any more. If you have an older drive with a copy you might resurrect that version... My understanding is that the game was sold, no one quite know who owns the rights. Where the money goes. I am not even sure a new user can buy the game right now. ME

Manned Duna mission?
Martian Emigrant replied to Werhner Von Kerman 795's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Hi. Don't make your lander tall with narrow legs. Duna doesn't have a lot of flat areas. You will land on a hill. ME -
Hi @Kerbalox This tread is a bit old but I just got to it. I have seen the lines but never thought about it, didn't try to figure them out. It looks like someone (Kerbals) lofted a ship on the floor. Probably for prototyping. So they don't have CAD or didn't at the time. Now lofting is done in actual size. One for one. So whatever that was it is huge. Remember the Kerbals on the floor are one meter high. ME

Recovering Wrecks From The Munar Surface
Martian Emigrant replied to The Flying Kerbal's topic in KSP1 Discussion
@The Flying Kerbal No sweat. I hate killing or abandoning the virtual little guys too. Just one more thing. About the cost of a rescue. If you don't mind waiting for another contract to get say science for the Mun or to get another tourist on the Mun then you can do both. Just don't forget to leave an empty seat for the return trip. ME -
Recovering Wrecks From The Munar Surface
Martian Emigrant replied to The Flying Kerbal's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hi. I never do tourist but.... They should be just like other Kerbals and can be transferred to another compartment. So with a claw you can join with the target ship and transfer the tourist to the rescue ship. Before abandoning the said ship. The last time I played with tourist they could leave a command chair and walk around. Sorry I don't have any pictures to illustrate the following. I have done a few wreck recoveries and my new standard is to have more inline stabiliser that should be reasonable. Plus two docking ports, face to face, on the end of the ship. I keep the landing ship cylindrical and have it roll, yaw the remaining distance to the wreck. The larger stabilisers are nice as they make big wheels that protect solar panels. Then the engineer remove one of the ports and weld it to the target as close to centred as possible. Then the pilot pivot the ship in line with the port and throttle up. You can adjust the thrust limiter value on the engine for finer control. Once the ships are merged the extra stabilisers can raise the whole thing vertical for take-off . I used to have landers with aircraft landing gear to taxi over the target and claw the wreck but it used fuel to manoeuvre and it is hard to have the CofG cooperate. Slopes are a pain too. ME -
Hi. Not sure I quite follow your description of the problem but. I once had an issue on a fresh install where I would click somewhere (I think it was "Settings") and the game would open my browser. Over and over again. I was offline without Internet. My PC was bogging down. It was hell for a while. Until I saw that the cursor on screen and the button pushed where not the same. There was a misalignment and the clicks where one line below. After changing the screen resolution a few times and rebooting in between the game healed. So not sure this will help at all but my feeling is that you have a configuration problem. ME

Arriving At A Planet When It's At A Node?
Martian Emigrant replied to The Flying Kerbal's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Gotcha By "Pay me now or pay me later" I meant to spend the delta-v one way or another. ME -
Arriving At A Planet When It's At A Node?
Martian Emigrant replied to The Flying Kerbal's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hi @The Flying Kerbal don't you have to cancel the excess speed when you get to a planet like Moho? Pay me now or pay me later? ME -
Can't find Bob Kerman in game files...
Martian Emigrant replied to Andrew1233's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Hi. Not an expert here. I have lost Kerbals before and found them in the astronaut complex tabs. Check the assigned and lost tabs. If Bob is listed as lost he will re-spawn after a while. It depends if you are playing with a no respawn difficulty. If he is listed as assigned to non existing ship.....Maybe editing the game file to make him available. I don't remember if there is a MIA status or not. If Bob can't be found in the astronaut complex you can open the cheat menu. Cheat menu---->Kerbals. Is bob there? What is is status? If he as no existence you can create him from there. ME -
Why is this not docking?
Martian Emigrant replied to randomkspplayerr's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Hi. Last minute thoughts . In my early days I have placed things like an antenna or a parachute too close to the docking port and they caused interference. About the docking port somehow marked as already docked wouldn't right clicking it and selecting undock do it? ME -
Hi all. I once noticed after the MK1 command pod was changed that the old one was still available with a search. The reason I found at the time for that was that the training scenarios still used the old one. The old ships still had to load for them to run. Perhaps by looking at the scenarios we would find one that uses the old twitch. ME

Why is this not docking?
Martian Emigrant replied to randomkspplayerr's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Hi @randomkspplayerr what he said. Looking at your screenshot I can't tell if there is a docking port on the command vessel. Also I find the 3.1 m distance suspicious. Is one or both docking ports clipped inside another part? If a part is too close it can interfere with the docking ports touching each other. Some parts don't have an exact match between the graphics and the actual place where they end. ME -
Hi all Kerbonauts. Yesterday I sent a mixed-species crew to Duna for upgrades. ME
-
Hi. I think it is meant to be \Funds but I refer to them as roots (It looks vaguely like a square root symbol). ME
-
Hi, welcome to the forum. You can now do a rescue mission. If Jeb can EVA he can push and lower the periapsis into the atmosphere. The EVA fuel can be replenished ad infinitum. ME

Bob Kermin turned into a satellite and now he's floating away
Martian Emigrant replied to J534's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What? Ouch! Sounds to me that something (For whatever reason) got corrupted for Bob to change into a different vessel type. RIP till he re-spawn. DP
