[1.12.5] Restock - Revamping KSP's art (August 28)
Tyko replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Correct - as @PmThay and @DStaal also mentioned - you can put your MM configs anywhere in the GameData folder. Like them, I also have a folder I created just to store my personal configs. This isn't required, but it keeps your GameData folder organized and makes it easy to move your favorite configs from one game install to the next. -
totm sep 2021 [1.12] Stockalike Station Parts Redux (August 14, 2024)
Tyko replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sure, I'll give it a once-over this weekend and share it with you. The disclaimer is that i'm not 'publishing" this, but rather sharing it with others who want to try it out. If there's broad support I may consider doing an actual release. Damn...fell behind on this because of ReStock work..I'll work on it this week... -
Wow, sounds like a cool project! Personally I'll probably stick with rescaling the system to either 2.5x or 3.2x which also makes 3 stage rockets necessary, if by a different mechanic.

What was the first thing you did when you bought KSP?

Two nice things about doing the "raise your orbit" method 1) the extra DV for higher orbit is small and handled by the launch vehicle, so you don't have to change your payload and 2) you can use TWP numbers directly because you just tell TWP you're starting from a higher orbit

Mun landing rocket design

You can also set the fuel flow priority in your two big tanks so the bottom one drains first - i.e. set the bottom tank to a higher priority number. This will keep the weight up front for longer. -
I'm not in front of my machine now but it should in the SSRSS folder. Look for a configs folder and, within that, a config with Kopernicus in its name

Really amazing! You're delving into a whole aspect of the game I've never touched and it's great to read about it. Honestly didn't even know that level of automation was possible

I'm willing to cut Squad a bit of slack on its very first DLC - call it young developer hubris - "we know what you want better than you do and we'll surprise and delight you". They don't get a pass for how buggy it was, that's inexcusable, but for missing the mark on what players want? That's pretty common even with experienced companies (cough, Bethesda!) I hope they've learned from MH though and IF a new DLC is in the works that it will reflect a greater attention to the desires of the community.

Thanks! Is that the Dev version of Scatterer or last November's release (0.0336)

I bought MH "to support Squad"...I wanted to see the team continue working and I was willing to throw $15 at it. I never planned on using the Mission Creator - even if it was easy to use and bug free I don't think I'd ever open it. The parts had me excited but there were so many issues that it really soured my experience. Most parts are playable now, but the reputation damage is done and there are plenty of free mods that offer better options. WRT future DLC - Squad is practically buried under feature requests. If anyone is bothering to read/compile them I'd say they know what the community wants.

Max pressure is read out in the part info in VAB. You should be able to see the change reflected there.

I think most of those issues are inherent in the RSS mod. I loaded RSS without SSRSS and found most of those same things. I didn't have a chance to check every one, but the unicorn horn and the Uranus/Neptune moons look pretty much the same. Also the backside of Earth is quite brightly lit.

@Beale the attach nodes on those docking ports aren't centered. Both sets of ports aren't aligning properly

You're seeing a lot of odd issues. I'll have to look when I get home. I've looked at all the planets and the big moons, but don't recall checking the little ones out. IIRC Titan should be kind of a big orange sphere, shouldn't it? you can't see the ground from space

Are you running scatterer? some things, like the black line on the horizon and some of the lighting issues may be from that

[1.12.5] Restock - Revamping KSP's art (August 28)
Tyko replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sorry you're having problems. We can try to help but need more information. Do you have a previous save? even if that save isn't current, if the station is in it there are ways to pull it out of the save file. Was your station using stock parts only or were you using other mods? which ones? When you launch the game and there were problems with existing craft the game generally gives a warning at startup that existing craft will break. Did you not get a warning like this? There aren't any plans to combine the variants from two packs. If you read back through this thread there are comments from others who are working on ways to use parts from both mods though -
Sadly, not all mods I like and use are supported by CKAN You can use CKAN to install SSRSS and dependencies, get that working then install other mods manually later. There's no requirement that you use CKAN for other mods. CKAN was able to get it all running for me too.

Anyone struggling with fuel tanks?
Tyko replied to Scarecrow's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
No man...not what I was suggesting, but good try. I suggested being able to select a profile using a drop down menu and then ALSO use the tabs to select tanks or engines or pods, whatever. With my methods you could use a drop down to select 2.5m and then click on the fuel tanks tab and ONLY see 2.5m fuel tanks. The way you demonstrated is still one dimensional - you're looking at ALL parts of a given size all jumbled together. -

I'd like to see a drop down menu up next to the search bar that lets you select a cross section. You could pick 1.25m from the drop down and then switch from one part tab to another and only see the 1.25 items. It would be great for building a stack in which you had a capsule, heat shield, decoupler, fuel tanks and an engine all in the same diameter. -
sure thing...I find that some trial and error with Precise Maneuver helps...i'll use the key pad to quickly make small changes to the Prograde, Normal and Radial settings and see which directions bring me closer then just patiently tap away at the keys and watch the numbers drop until I get as close as I can. It can take some tapping, but by adjusting your increment value for each tap you can get very precise maneuvers. The only challenge then is actually doing the burn accurately. One additional note - depending on your TWR your burns can get pretty long. If you're burning from LKO and your burn is over 4-5 minutes you're moving around the planet so fast that you'll lose accuracy and efficiency at the beginning and end of the burns. To correct for that you can: Increase your TWR so you have shorter burns - the easist, but you have to plan for the greater mass Raise your orbit so the orbital path is straighter - the lower the orbit the tighter the circle you're flying in. Do the transfer over multiple orbits - it's called a periapsis kick - you do the first burn to raise your AP higher, but not all the way out of Kerbin's SOI. then ride around your orbit til you're back at PE for another burn. Depending on how low your TWR is you may have to do several kicks. on the final pass you push your AP out of Kerbin SOI and complete your transfer burn. This is fun when it's done right, but it's easier to do one of the first two methods above
