  1. I really like how you clipped the fuel tanks, it really looks nice! EDIT: Just realized this was a year ago, sorry...
  2. I don't see what's so special about this, though... I guess you're saying to build an SSTO with five reentry capsules, load a kerbal in each of them, and then send them back to Kerbin? Also, the extra 5000 points in IVA can be easily exploited. What if I just launch a shoddy suborbital rocket or two and do it all in IVA? 5k points for me, give or take a few. See? I'm not an expert on challenges but I'm pretty sure you're off course with this one.
  3. My plan is to transmit the science, then send a manned mission to land in that same spot, just like Spricigo said. Also, after sending a few more missions, I know that I do in fact have enough fuel to take off and return to Kerbin with nuclear engines. I like to go to Minmus since it's easier to land and the return is easier. Whenever I visit the Mun though, I usually get a bad escape and will have to get a kerbal out to push. Right now, my latest lander is going to the Mun and Minmus. I'm sending a refueling ship to Minmus which is my craft's first destination to refill the craft and put a tourist onboard. Can you transfer tourists across ships while docked, by the way? EDIT: Okay, forget the tourist. I'm just sending a probe with fuel and a parachute module to the lander.
  4. So, rovers have been fairly difficult for me to build so far. I fixed the reaction wheels so they don't make my rover stand up on 2 wheels. But my latest rover on Minmus has a difficult time getting over slopes. Is there anything I can do to fix this, besides giving my next rover a fuel tank and engines? I have researched Field Science but not Advanced motors yet.
  5. I haven't maxed out the tech tree, I think I've been reasonably sure I've taken all the science out of the biomes. I don't want to send manned missions to the Mun in fear that I won't have enough fuel to take off after landing and have to send a rescue vehicle. I'm not sure what I missed on Minmus, though. I know I've went to the slopes, greater flats, and lowlands. Right now I'm going to the poles of Minmus with a probe.
  6. I've scraped almost all the science out of the Mun and Minmus, and I'm not ready to go interplanetary yet. So I was thinking, "Why not visit the poles?" and I made 3 craft that I repurposed for finishing Mun temperature scans. If I visit the North and South poles, will they count as different biomes?
  7. Thanks! Also, how do I transfer fuel from one fuel tank to another? Fuel ducts only transfer fuel one way and I can't control them. I'm not talking about rendezvouz, by the way.
  8. I would like more parts specifically for building bases. In fact, I feel uneasy building bases with landing legs or wheels because I'm afraid they won't be aligned properly and can't connect. Also, new planets. Add Kerbol Plus and a bigger tech tree for new parts. I'd at least like to visit Krakulos or something like that.
  9. I don't see why the Aerospike has a model like the shock cone intakes. It's kind of confusing and one of these days I might mistake it for an air intake and put it on the front of a plane.
  10. I'm building an SSTO and I want to be able to press a key and have my Rapier engines switch modes, or trigger the next stage and switch the modes for them. How do I do that with action groups? They're confusing, please help.
  11. F1 doesn't seem to do anything when I press it. There's no "Screenshot saved" or anything like that, not even a temporary half-second freeze for a picture. Also, where do I find the screenshots once I've taken them?
  12. After landing on the Mun yesterday, I got into a bad Mun escape, my nuclear engines ran out of fuel, and Bob had to get out and push the craft into an aerobrake. Also, the aerobrake used nearly all the ablator in my heat shield. But we made it. Sorry, forgot to take pictures...
  13. I will help. Yay! I've never gone interplanetary before, so this is a first. I'm also doing this in career mode. I will bring a satellite and some kerbals on a lander. (Don't have enough science for drills and ore processing, I'll setup a mining operation after I've gotten enough from Dres (And enough money to upgrade my R&D because holy hell, is it expensive). I am running stock KSP since I don't know how to download/install them yet and I'm holding off until I've conquered every planet in the Kerbol System. (Or at least until my curiosity takes over/my save gets corrupted.) I would send more, but I can't figure out how to fit a rover on and still have space for the nuclear engines to fit into the 2.5m fairing. Edit: I've decided I want to get more science on Minmus before going to Dres. I want to test the capabilities of my lander around the neighborhood of Kerbin first.
  14. Sometimes in missions I happen to find myself stuck in IVA, which is why I don't use it. What's the key to switch out of it? I tried looking in the options, nothing that solves my problem.
  15. Name: Mintmus Space Cream Company: Mint-E Aerospace Source: Minmus's Ice Plains Backstory: After an astronaut found out that Minmus was not made of delicious dessert products and did not taste good, he put it in a blender with some rocket fuel, salt, and ice. After replacing a normal booth's mint ice cream with the space cream, they noticed no side effects that customers might have had. Mint-E Aerospace also noticed a 68.7% increase in sales from the booth. Type: Ice Cream (May contain frozen bacterium and microbes of unknown origin) Meal Designation: Dessert Meal Type: Ice cream/Snack/SPF-50/Electrical Sealant
  16. Launching a rocket to Minmus without adding upper structural support. The upper part was quite tall and skinny, so when I launched it, it started shaking about. My rocket flipped over and got so wobbly that the payload that the rocket was taking up nearly smacked into the middle stage.
  17. I got a probe I launched yesterday into Munar orbit, and I launched a probe and got it to Minmus orbit. Next step is a Mun lander probe, which I am going to launch today.
  18. Okay, thank you. It'll be much easier to send an unmanned probe to get science and then send a manned mission to get the full worth.
  19. If I send a probe to gather and transmit science from somewhere and later send a manned rocket to collect science from the same area, will I get the full scientific value?
  20. Thank you all for the explanations! The diagram really helped too!
  21. I tried the tutorial but I couldn't understand it quite well. I don't know how to get two crafts near each other for docking, and seeing that I get stuck on the "Go prograde until your orbit crosses the stranded ship's orbit" or something, I'm likely doing something wrong. I can't even tell if the two orange markers are within 5km of each other. So, can you explain this in a simpler way?
