If you have mods that are not compatible yet with 1.2.2, then yes, your saves will not be usable as you may have ships with unsupported, non-existing parts.

[1.12.X] Kerbal Planetary Base Systems v1.6.15 [28. April 2022]
Kerbital replied to Nils277's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This is an amazing mod and thanks for updating it so quickly. The look, style and features are a perfect match for the game. I used the hub and some smaller components to build ships too, not necessarily bases:) Great option for long interplanetary trips! -
Stutter (with mechjeb)
Kerbital replied to Kerbital's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
It definitely gets worse with time as you have more ships in flight. I played the game again for few days and it eventually gets to the point of being impossible to play. I had 4 relays in space, one large ship, two landers and that's pretty much it. I can't develop any real infrastructure or mount a proper expedition or build bases because the game becomes unplayable. This is really very frustrating as the game could be so much fun otherwise. I'm limited basically to tinkering with small ships in Kerbal vicinity. The other game I've been playing a lot is Planetary Annihilation. I play against up to 6 AI opponents across several planets and moons, thousands of units each at times. The game used to slow down a lot, the simulation speed and FPS (but there was never any stuttering), there were lots of complaints, but they managed to improve it so much with the latest update that it's like day and night difference. Although, I believe they're using a custom, in-house engine. No more slowdowns for me. I was hoping for a similar "miracle" with KSP. -
Stutter (with mechjeb)

Just popped in here to say that the stutter is still here after 1.2.2 update and the latest official release of MechJeb 2.6 -

Stutter (with mechjeb)
Kerbital replied to Kerbital's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Yikes, the stutter is back with a vengeance! I counted pauses as long as 3 seconds each! KSP is now using 20GB of RAM On top of that I have insane loading times, switching between map, ship or space center take over 10 seconds! I think I'm done here. Thanks for all the hep but I lost patience for this game. Cheers! -
Stutter (with mechjeb)
Kerbital replied to Kerbital's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I upped the max to 10240. KSP memory usage jumped to 17GB and I don't see much improvement over 2048 so far. It's already much, much better with 2048. At this is with 4x AA. I think we can conclude that: a) This bug still lingers in KSP. b) MechJeb is triggering this bug. c) Increasing the max padding in MemGraph helps to a large degree. Thank you! -
Stutter (with mechjeb)
Kerbital replied to Kerbital's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Right now, with 2048 max and few minutes of flying a large ship the commit size is around 5.2GB (5,200,000K) and it's growing. -
Stutter (with mechjeb)

I have 32GB. I will need to get back to you later on Task Manager memory usage, because I don't remember, I haven't looked in a while. Funny you mentioned warp as MJ has been very "hesitant" during autolandings and is doing this stop-and-go warp thing as if it couldn't decide what to do: warp or not. I often mess around with ships that are really not designed for proper landings, but this happens a lot even with simple probes and landers. However, this is not the only time stutter happens. It happens during all aspects of the game. I currently have MechJeb2-2.5.9.0-648 build. I bumped the total in MemGraph settings to 2048 and it was noticeably better for the rest of the day. This is the same lander I used earlier and it was giving me 5 second stutter. This time it was rather smooth landing. Is it safe to go even higher? I'll check the RAM usage in Task Manager later and post. Thank you! -
Stutter (with mechjeb)
Kerbital replied to Kerbital's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I only have MechJeb. Removing and copying a fresh MechJeb folder restores some order. 2-3 hours later stuttering starts creeping in again. So then I deleted all the ships settings files from \Kerbal Space Program\GameData\MechJeb2\Plugins\PluginData\MechJeb2 and things go back to normal again. It looks to me like MechJeb is indeed causing this Here are some screenshots I took over the last few days (15MB): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14471718/forumstuff/ksp/656425341.zip Here is the output_log.txt from \KSP_x64_Data https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14471718/forumstuff/ksp/6456575.zip Thanks! -
I had the worst gameplay today. I capped my framerate at 60, turned off AA and highlighting and the stutter today was unbearable, probably worst so far. It's not even "stutter", it's a solid 1-2 second pause every few seconds when even flying a small craft. It gets progressively worse, like something is building up, and it happens in the hangar, in map mode and even during menus. I'm also noticing extended loading times when switching between ship, map and space center. Alt-End isn't making any difference anymore. What do I need to adjust in the settings to give it more memory? Thanks! 8 : 1 16 : 1 24 : 1 32 : 1 40 : 1 48 : 1 64 : 1 80 : 1 96 : 1 112 : 1 144 : 1 176 : 1 208 : 1 240 : 1 296 : 1 352 : 1 432 : 1 664 : 0 800 : 0 1008 : 0 1344 : 0 2032 : 0 total : 1024

The stutter comes and goes randomly for me. I no longer believe that it is related to AA as I was running for many hours with 4xAA and the stutter was very sporadic. I think the Highlight FX or one of the other settings, or something other altogether is the culprit. For instance, this was with no AA and a tiny ship: Then I had no stutter with much larger ships and AA on. It's totally random for me.

Sorry for bugging you. I posted this on the forum but it was completely ignored in the general bickering that goes on there. This a repost of what I asked:
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or it's a bug. As long as I'm flying a single craft all is fine and MJ works. But when I dock another vessel and try to fly that (i.e. mothership+lander) maneuver nodes, the dotted yellow planned orbits and the various markers no longer show up on the map, just the blue orbit.
It still works,(edit: actually, not sure if it even works any more) but its kind of weird because I don't see what it's doing. I tried to set Control From Here to either vessel's command module or MJ module but that does not make a difference. Any ideas? Thanks! -
I turned off AA and parts highlighting in flight and so far no stutter to speak of. Every minute at worst. Crossing fingers! I tried to compensate for lack of AA by using Nvidia DSR but KSP doesn't allow me to switch to any DSR resolution. Man, I really wish games weren't so buggy these days Thanks for all the help!
-
So I reinstalled the game, deleted all saves and ships. I only changed the resolution, enabled Advanced Twekables and customized keys, no other changes to the settings. I played vanilla for about 30 minutes, hiccups were extremely rare, every few minutes maybe, I didn't time them, they were really far apart, smooth experience overall. Then I installed MechJeb #644 (from a clean zip download) and everything was fine for about an hour then it started creeping in. At first, it was something like maybe every 30-40 seconds. After couple of hours of gameplay I see stutter under every 20 seconds now. I'm not anywhere near 3-5 seconds yet as before, but the stutter is noticeably creeping in. I know this is not conclusive, I should have run vanilla game for several hours before adding MechJeb, but I really can't play the game without Mechjeb's help. So it may or may not be MechJeb's fault. Padishar, I'll change the padding today as you suggested. I never changed the part highlighting setting, didn't even know it was there. I'll try to run without that. Oh, and sorry, I forgot to remove the MechJeb modules from the saves
-
Padishar, I don't think this has anything to do with a vessel size actually. I later tried this with a much smaller craft, put it in orbit and make it spin and watched it. What is strange that the stutter is sometimes every 3 seconds, sometimes every 5 seconds. After Alt-Home it goes up to 8 seconds and sometimes 16 seconds but I've seen periods of time without stutter for much longer, but they were rare and then it would go back to more frequent. Also, I noticed very long loading times when I switch from ship to space center and the game crashed few times during that. I wonder if MechJeb is the cause of this. It's the only mod that I have installed. I will reinstall the game tonight and try without MechJeb. That's would be bad though because I can't play this game without MechJeb, too hard for me. Here is my save: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14471718/forumstuff/ksp/saves/Sandbox2.zip Thanks!
-
So yup, MemGraph works, it wasn't because I didn't use the Alt key Today I was getting the stutter every 5 seconds and every 8 seconds after I hit Alt-Home. I didn't take a screenshot because the game quit to the desktop It doesn't do this normally, I don't have a problem with this game quitting. After re-launching the game I was actually getting the stutter every 3 seconds now! After Alt-Home it was every 8 seconds again. Here is the link to a zip file containing two craft files, a screenshot and the output_log.txt. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14471718/forumstuff/ksp/ksp-stutter-stuff.zip Thanks!

[1.12.X] Kerbal Planetary Base Systems v1.6.15 [28. April 2022]
Kerbital replied to Nils277's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yes, I figured this out! The day I was posting the images wouldn't load for me. Then I watched some videos and it looks like I can basically build them, fly them over and then can be driven around to attach to each other. It'll be some time before I get there, still have a lot to figure out but these bases look very promising. Thanks. -
Thanks a lot or trying to help out. You just made me realize why I could not get MemGraph to work! Alt key! Duh. I was just pressing star, slash, etc without the Alt My bad. I'll try MemGraph again tonight and will post more information. The largest ship I had so far was around 380 parts and it would be a solid stop, for like a full second, every 5 seconds or so. Most have around 200. Even if there was a stutter every minute I would not mind. But every few seconds is very annoying, especially if you're trying to move the camera around.

I feel the caps are justified as it's extremely infuriating to encounter a serious, game spoiling bug that was discussed years ago in a game that you have just purchased. Yup. I get this in 1.2, Steam version. I run the 64bit executable on Windows 7x64, I only have MechJeb installed, no other mods, no settings file tweaks. I removed MJ and it still happens. It gets worse with larger ships. Ships over 200 parts are basically unplayable. And I mean single flight. If I have few ships out in space it becomes unbearable. FPS is usually high, around 100fps, the hiccups seem to be RAM/CPU related. Oh, and I also capped FPS at 60, didn't make a noticeable difference. I tried MemGraph, it does nothing besides showing the graph, the shortcuts key for MemGraph do not work. I reinstalled the game with default keybindings, MemGraph still doesn't make any difference. I didn't want to brag, here are my specs, note that nothing is overclocked: Windows 7x64 (went back from Win10 due to broken Skyrim in latest 10 update) Core i7 6700K GTX 1080 x2 SLI (disabled SLI, no difference) 32GB RAM Steam is installed on M2 NVME PCI SSD I haven't encountered a game yet that has problems running on this machine, except when I was running Windows 10 (SLI bugs). The PC is only used for games, no other software, basically a Steambox of sorts. If you look at the Task Manager, there is probably around 20 tasks running. KSP never uses more than around 20% of CPU and RAM usage is also very low. My solution for now is to avoid large ships and fly fewer ships at a time, but that takes the fun out of the game. Edit: Other things I did: I disabled Steam overlay, I launched the game using Steam, KSP launcher or the exe directly, nothing seems to make any difference.

This is awesome. I've been trying to pull something like this off: a large mothership with multiple pods and landers but it's hard to build and fly and I run into game bugs a lot. I haven't tried to utilize a cargo bay yet. I'm still very new to the game.

I had the game for few weeks only. The first thing I learned: do not buy early access games unless you buy them, um... early. There is vast amount of documentation and tutorials that are horribly outdated and make finding pertinent information very hard for newcomers. A lot of community members, who played the game for years and adjusted to the changes as they happened, take stuff for granted. MechJeb I would not be able to play without MechJeb. I would have returned the game. It should be built into the game as an option. I was able to go to orbit and, with significant difficulty, go back to the Mun, land in a totally random spot an return to Kerbin and, again, land in totally random spot, but that was it. I would have stopped playing KSP if I didn't find MJ. I find the lack of updated and detailed documentation infuriating. I just got the game and most stuff I find is from 2012-2014. In-game help is laughably basic. This game is fun but frustratingly difficult and the controls are awful too. I enjoy building craft and see them fly but I have no interest and no inclination to perform mundane, tedious, complex and repetitive maneuvers and calculations. I see how some people may enjoy this but autopilot should be a built-in option for those who have no interest or no skills to fly 100% manual. Less is more indeed Less is more but not for pure rocketry reasons. The game just can't handle larger ships and it's awfully buggy. It runs poorly even on high end hardware and bugs are really showstopping at times. Action groups Make flying and controlling easier if you have multiple components that needs to be toggled, deployed, etc. Subassemblies For rockets mainly so you can launch/test quicker. They save a lot of time!

It's October 2016, almost two years have passed since this thread... I get the same problem with the latest version: every 5 seconds a hiccup. Very annoying! I have an very powerful gaming computer, GSYNC monitor, etc. KSP isn't even using 20% of the resources. CAN THIS BE FIXED PLEASE?!?!? This is clearly a bug in the game and it's pretty major.

[1.12.X] Kerbal Planetary Base Systems v1.6.15 [28. April 2022]
Kerbital replied to Nils277's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sorry, I'm new to KSP. How do I actually build those bases and/or how do I get them to the planets? I can't seem to find any information on that. I saw few videos where people used Hyperedit, but I was hoping for a more immersive way of building those. Thanks!
