  1. I'm having trouble understanding how to use ascent guidance to launch into the plane of a target. There isn't a delay after engaging autopilot and I invariably end up way out of alignment, even worse than if I'd have launched normally. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I can't find a definitive guide to this specific feature anywhere. Can someone give me some tips?
  2. I think I understand the issue and it's an interesting problem.
  3. Sorry, I guess I still don't understand. Because I tried doing the maneuvers manually as well but the burn times seem to be calculated incorrectly. How do you do it?
  4. Good points on MechJeb use. I just prefer designing and plannings missions over the actually flying part. If it wasn't for MechJeb it's unlikely I'd still be playing. I did some more testing an although BetterBurnTime was calculating a burn it seems like it is pretty inaccurate so I guess the problem you explained is pervasive. I would guess if it was solvable someone would have done it. I would think that the usefulness of these affected engine's is directly impacted by the inability to calculate an accurate burn time. I'm still suspicious that the problem is me but it seems that for once it's probably not.
  5. Got it. I thought there might have been more to it so thanks!
  6. How is the geology lab supposed to work? I saw a post that it wasn't supposed to be a science lab but I haven't been able to figure out what purpose it serves or how to use it. Are there any plans to add a regular science lab? EDIT: I'm using this mk2 fuselage lab from a mod for now. It doesn't fit well and is too long but I haven't figured out an alternative I like yet:
  7. Ah, got it. I guess that makes sense. I'll have to be careful then. I'm a terrible and lazy pilot so I use MechJeb for autopiloting a lot. It's strange to me that BetterBurnTime seems to calculate the correct burn time but MechJeb can't or doesn't. It would seem to indicate that maybe MechJeb could be "fixed"?
  8. Is it just me or do the Attila and VASIMR engines not work with MechJeb autopilot? Both engines fire without being close to the maneuver node. I have a simple ship with an Attila engine. Once it's in orbit if I try and use Manuever Planner to change my orbit, like raise my apoapsis, when I engage the autopilot it will point to the maneuver indicator and then immediately fire the engines even though the burn is only 26s and the node is 30 minutes away. It only does this with these two engines that I've found. Is this a known issue?
  9. Yes, I did read that and it it's a great overview of how it works but it lacks a bit of step by step (reread it and realized I misunderstood the section on relays... thought all I needed was an antenna PLUS a gyrotron to make up a receive/transmitter combo). I'm feeling pretty dumb for not having considered that two antennas were required so thanks! That seems to have done the trick. There still doesn't seem to be any indication that a relay is functioning though. For instance, I couldn't figure out how to tell when the relay was in line-of-sight of the power satellite. I had to just keep checking the map. Is there an indication that a relay is connected to something (either a power producer or consumer) that I'm missing? Also, I've been playing around trying to figure out the upper limits and I was able to create a power station that transmitted what I think is the maximum possible 2880GW (20m QSR @ 21% and 20m large FELA). However, it seems that the maximum power that can be received by the large FELA is 40GW. Is that also the limit of what can be relayed?
  10. I'm still having trouble understanding how to set up a power network. There aren't a lot of guides that detail how the antennas work when setting up the relays (at least not that I could find). Here's my problem. I have a power satellite generating power output with a Gyrotron and a large FELA. I have a second satellite with just a gyrotron and a large FELA and I'm trying to set it up to relay power from the first satellite. If I turn on the receiver I receive a ton of power and it shows I'm connected to satellite 1/1. If I deactivate the receiver and link it for relay I receive no power and the connected satellites is 0/1. What am I doing wrong? Here is the satellite with the receiver activated: And linked for relay:
  11. I think maybe you're lacking in Mega-joules causing abysmal ISP in your cryo engine?? Probably wrong since I'm kinda new with this mod too but I don't think the USI reactors I don't think produce MJ which is required by stuff in Interstellar. It can be confusing. To avoid mixing the two part sets I try to make sure I use the filters so I only see the KSPI parts that way I don't grab reactors from USI on accident. A bit less necessary now that I'm more familiar with the two part sets but still helps. Of course, I could be completely wrong but I have observed having issues like this when using the USI reactors with KSPI parts. I think maybe if you try using one of the KSPI reactors instead that will solve your problem. Maybe. I'll stop typing now. EDIT: Or maybe it's just that the USI parts are behaving oddly. Still could be because of mixing the parts but I should've stayed out of it.
  12. GTX 1080 with the latest drivers (updated about a week ago) on Windows 10 64-bit.
  13. That's what I thought, the first picture is what it should look like but it doesn't. The second picture doesn't look nearly as dark on my PC. I've tried to lighten it up. The moving animated lines are black not blue. Here is a brighter picture in direct sunlight: EDIT: Here's an animated .gif: http://imgur.com/a/RdZZb Maybe I'm missing a texture file somehow?
  14. Sure. This is an image of a QSR running from earlier in this thread with blue squigglies: This is what my running QSR looks like with black squigglies which are hard to make out (imgur always makes my images really dark, not sure why) but clearly they are not blue: P.S. I'm just curious but why doesn't the Tri-alpha scale past 5m? I had expected I would need a 10m reactor to start a 10m QSR but obviously this works.
  15. The reaction animation in my QSR's is black. Isn't it supposed to be blue? I'm also having some issues setting up a beamed power network. I have a satellite transmitting 20GW using a Gyrotron and a large multi-bandwidth dish transceiver. I have another satellite with just a Gyrotron and another large multi-bandwidth dish transceiver which is orbiting just a few km from the power satellite. If I activate the receiver I get a bunch of power and it shows I'm connected to satellites 1/2 (I have a ground power station too). If i deactivate the receiver and link for relay it shows satellites connected 0/2 and I'm getting no power input. Am I doing something wrong?
  16. Ok, Imgur is back up o this is what the exhaust looks like (sorry it's so dark, if I need a better image let me know):
  17. I think there is something wrong with my plasma engines. The ATTILA and VASMIR both have really pink, weak looking exhausts which are much larger in diameter than the engines. I'd post a picture but Imgur is down. The plasma nozzle and Magneto Plasma Dynamic Thruster exhaust look fine. Just seems to be these two engines which both look identical.
  18. After reinstalling everything to make sure Near Future was gone I tried to work with the Quantum Singularity Reactor again. Can someone give me the simplest set up which SHOULD get the Quantum Singularity Reactor to start? I haven't been able to put together anything to get it to start now (yes, I'm in orbit). Just messing around in sandbox and no combination of reactors, generators, and radiators I've tried has resulted in being able to start the reactor. I don't even get any error (like the plasma guarantee error). Just doesn't start. Wondering if my install is borked so I'd like to try something that I know should work in the latest version. Replicating stuff from Youtube hasn't worked. NEVERMIND. I'm just an idiot. Forgot to set the fusion mode. Man do I feel stupid. P.S. Is the reaction while it's running supposed to be black colored or blue?
  19. Nevermind... I reread the answer. Misunderstood. All good now!
  20. So I've been playing in sandbox mode and watching Youtube videos and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. In a youtube video posted in Dec. of 2016 (16 mins in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpYrkQ_-P2k) shows almost this exact setup below (Quantum reactor with Trialpha) was producing many GW of power compared to my MW. What am I doing incorrectly? http://imgur.com/a/d2ncW I tried this in my career game first but got the same result so I tried sandbox and still much lower power output.
  21. Ah, got it. Too simple! I got so used to rather complex workings behind this mod that I didn't think of the easiest solution first. Thanks!
