NOTE: This is a continuation of 'The Orange Wasteland'. As a result, some things may be connected to the other story. Therefore, to avoid confusion, read the other story here. 'The Journey' Gemett ran up to the bridge of the Raptor. He started to give out orders to the crew. 'As soon as we're clear of the blast radius, get us back to Kerbin!' And as he ended that sentence, a bright light, a mix of orange, grey, yellow, red, and white, engulfed the ship. Alarms went off. 'I'm reading massive amounts of rock coming towards us' 'Engage evasive maneuvers'. 'Some of the debris is coming towards us so fast that we can't outrun it!' 'Use the hangar tractor beams to slow them down'. 'We can't engage hyper impulse engines until the debris has cleared', one of the bridge officers said. 'Ike is just to the left. If we get behind the moon, it should shield us from the rocks', Gemett replied. 'Setting a course now'. By this time, rocks were passing dangerously close to the ship. They reached Ike just as a rock, hurtling towards the bridge, slammed into the surface. 'That was a close one'. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GbUxQw4oNni2WlQV2 They waited for several days. Every few minutes a small bang was heard, of another part of the now destroyed Duna colliding into the surface of Ike. Only when the sound stopped, they emerged from the moon. Instead of seeing Duna, they saw a large orange-red nebula. 'The only remains of Duna. It looks beautiful, even though we were nearly killed by it a few days ago. I'll call it the 'Valiant' Nebula. Let's go'. Engaging the hyper impulse engines, the Raptor arrived in Kerbin orbit some days later. https://photos.app.goo.gl/RwfDnFJvUyH8DB2i2 'Let's head home. Open a link with the KSC to inform them of our arrival' Gemett said. 'Link open'. 'Raptor to KSC'. 'We here you, Raptor. Go ahead'. 'We're landing now. Prepare for our arrival in roughly five minutes'. 'Acknowledged'. 'Standard re-entry protocol engaged. Heading through the atmosphere' https://photos.app.goo.gl/KGvuITPVjpoZMIyC2 'I see it. I see the space center!' https://photos.app.goo.gl/ASsyOJzqzDrpQedF2 'Activating landing thrusters. Surface impact in 5 seconds'. A small jolt was experienced, as the landing gear met the surface. 'We're landed'. Rows of transports drove to the ship. The crew, numbering some 180, were all taken back to the space center. Gemett made sure that Jeb, Sukhi, Catla, Jonlong, and Patsey were all put in medical vehicles, before himself being returned to the facility.

'The Wasteland' There were no words to describe what they were seeing. Duna was breaking apart. Cracks were forming. And then, an almighty bang. 'LET'S GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW!' 'But, we'll hit the ship!' 'EITHER WE GET INSIDE AND CAUSE SOME DAMAGE, OR THE WHOLE AREA WILL BE WIPED OUT!' 'Well...we're damned if we do, and damned if we don't!'. Gemett contacted the Raptor. They were using full power on the tractor beams to slow the shuttle down, but it wasn't enough. 'We're going too fast! Brace for impact!' https://photos.app.goo.gl/Jk0IFPUluIq3KEYY2 The whole ship shuddered. It made terrible noises, of screeching metal and shattering glass. Fire crews came to put out the flames of exploding electronics. 'Are you all right?' one of them asked. 'I'm...fine. Where's everyone else?' 'In sickbay'. Sukhi Kerman then looked out of the shuttlebay doors, which had a massive hole in the middle. She looked at Duna. It was burning. Lava was erupting. Fire was engulfing the poles, turning the ice black, as the lava mixed with the water. 'It's like a wasteland...an orange wasteland'

Hey! I've just noticed, that the google photo link actually shows the image instead of the link! Great! Now I can embed images in and not do boring links! https://photos.app.goo.gl/S5GtKAE53nimQpOn1 'Another happy landing'

I've got one, involving EVE and my science plane:
-
Yep. A good example is @RoadRunnerAerospace. He chose the name for a company, but soon switched to being a normal user. Unfortunately he already used his one time name change, so he can't change it again.

On an extremely serious note, do not remain silent!
Chel replied to smotheredrun's topic in The Lounge
Don't make up stats: 'let's say'. 'let's say' 'let's say' That implies that I am using it as an example. I was not actually saying that 1 in 10 women and 1 in 25 men DO experience domestic violence, I was creating an example for my argument. -

So? You're pretty much saying that 'yes this happens', but 'you shouldn't raise awareness of the issue because it happens less frequently'. If there is an issue, no matter how big or small, it needs to be looked at. Just because, let's say, 1 in 10 women experience domestic violence, as oppose to 1 in 25 men experience domestic violence, doesn't mean that it should only focus on women (even though they are the majority of victims). There is still 1 in 25 men experiencing domestic violence, and something needs to be done about that as well. -
Who is the most significant person on the forum to you?
Chel replied to cratercracker's topic in Kerbal Network
If I could choose two, they would be @NSEP and @RoadRunnerAerospace. NSEP for his humour, and RoadRunner for his love of cats as well. -
I will give some clues to myself: I am male, I'm Australian, I have black/brown hair, and like to wear beanies and dressing gowns (coats).

Then the moderators shall talk to you about copyright and punish you. I wish for a LEGO Saturn V kit

I, for some reason, see @Vanamonde as a guy in his early 30s or something with a beard sitting in an internet café on a Mac.

To Buy or Not to Buy. That is the question
Chel replied to The Man Myth and Legend's topic in Welcome Aboard
If you want to build giant rockets and fly to other destinations, take samples and explore, or test out planes, then this is the game for you. Also if you want to build some crazy contraption and show it on the forums (like a hot air balloon or mechanized walker). And if you want to see how big of an explosion you can get from your craft. -
Help meh with eve and my planets
Chel replied to Cyrus Playz's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
You should describe the problem to us. If you don't tell us what the problem is, then we have no way of giving you help on the matter. -
I'm in Australia, and what people are doing is buying all the stock out from stores, and selling them on eBay and Gumtree for anywhere from $50 to $200 more than the actual price. I even saw one for $800. But at the online LEGO store, it's only $250. Greedy...

Thankyou for adding that. There are lots of videos where a man attacks a woman in a public place, and people call the police and everything, but when the roles are reversed, people just stand there and laugh. It's just plain wrong that women are seen always as victims, while men can (and sadly are) also victims. Damnit, now I'm in the conversation again -
I did notice a glitch. When I landed my rover on the surface of the Mun, the wheels disappeared and the tracks stopped moving, but still provided thrust. The anti-grav engines are really cool, and are pretty much a cheaty way of making a VTOL. I just need to add retro thrusters...

Sorry for 'crashing' the party in the mess (While the NCO's out), but I can't see the pics. Maybe it's an issue with my browser or something, but could you link the pics?- 29 replies

How to mark a place as visited in a new game?
Chel replied to Mine_Turtle's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I would HyperEdit and plant flags on each area to say that you've been there. For example: 'Mun midlands' flag in the Mun's midlands. 'Kerbin Badlands' in the Badlands of Kerbin. -
Done! Thank you, now I can build my rover. It's using the Mole tracks on the sides and has a Mk3 cargo bay, which I've converted into a science room where they can work in while moving over the surface.

Right. I don't want to get swept away into the black hole that is internet flamewars and long arguments (that to be honest, are pointless and achieve nothing), so I'm leaving as well. #ImOut -
Possible to get mods for old versions of KSP?
Chel replied to Draconiator's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I used to search through Curse. I would go to a mod, and go to the 'Downloads' tab. From there it lists all versions of the mod, and what version of the game it worked with. That's how I got Interstellar, BDArmory and others for 1.0.0. -
Hi, how do I install KerbalFoundries? I'm thinking of using tracks for a versatile exploration rover.

I understand. When discussions like these are created, things can go from a simple chat to abuse or harassment, blaming, and everything else associated with internet flamewars. -

Exactly. A mailman was accused for sexual assault just for being outside a woman's house everyday (to deliver the mail). [snip] Sure we need gender equality, like for women to vote or be able to have the same jobs as men (like construction or train driving), but not that much 'equality' as changing the pedestrian lights in Melbourne because someone felt 'oppressed' by the image which was apparently male (it was just a round head with a body. no facial or hair features, nothing, just like a stick figure). And a forum about a video game has now turned into a discussion about a topic that people can go on for hours over.
