  1. The symbol is meant to represent Kerbin, and the phrase in my signature will go on all the plaques. Unfortunately when I downloaded the logo from Google Drive it got slightly blurry, but I think it'll be fine once it's ingame.
  2. I never leave Kerbals behind. They're too adorable and squishy to be left to die.
  3. Luckily for me, they announced memory improvements to the overall game. While I do eventually plan to upgrade my wimpy 2 GB of single-channel RAM to 4 gigs dual-channel, I have a 32-bit OS and the most I'll be able to use is 3.75gigs, which means the game as it is right now would still run like crap.
  4. Nah. I have a bunch of saves starting from the beginning of 0.18 and I'm not letting them go to waste. One of them is actually very empty so come 0.20 I plan to populate the save with probes and start building up that knowledge base. Unless the knowledge base was supposed to come out with resources, in which case send the probes anyway!
  5. My favorite thing about these videos is watching new players play the game, because it reminds me of when I started. It's like "HOW DO I SPACE" *boom* Good stuff. EDIT: Oh my God Freddie's Mun rocket. Help, I'm dying. XD
  6. I needed a multi-purpose space tug to help me build my space station. My previous manned tugs, the Hercules and Hercules MkII, were built for this purpose, but I got tired of having to EVA my Kerbals to and from the vehicles every time I used it. So I came up with this, an unmanned version of the Hercules called Ukonvasara. In Finnish mythology, Ukko is the god of Thunder, and one of his weapons is a hammer called Ukonvasara (Eng.: Ukko's Hammer). It's comparable to the Norse mythological weapon Mjolnir. Ukonvasara, like Mjolnir, is used to forge lightning, but since we can't do that in KSP, this unmanned vehicle is instead used to construct vessels in orbit, such as space stations. And no, it's not you, that engine is actually falling away. After upper stage sep, Ukonvasara uses that engine to maneuver itself into position to rendezvous with its target. As it closes in on the vessel, it activates those Rockomax radial engines and detaches the bigger engine on a safe trajectory, exposing a rear Clampotron docking port to complement the forward facing Clampotron Jr. The best thing about having both sizes of docking port is I can make my station modular. Different sized parts will have different sized docking ports, so this all-in-one tool makes that job much easier. I usually have two of these at my station at all times, and they've proven their worth in eventually converting my research station into an orbital fuel station. NOTE: This image is actually outdated. I'm working on a Ukonvasara Mk II that's lighter, uses the KSPX 1 meter probe part, and doesn't have that detachable engine in the back. Pictures once that's all done.
  7. Land on the Mun for the 50th time and plant a custom flag there. Then I'll go to Minmus and plant one there. Then to Duna. Then... I don't know.
  8. It's a built-in feature so of course I use it.
  9. ....Nnnnnno. Why would I be disappointed? They work exactly as they showed them in the dev streams. And you do realize 40 m/s is 90 miles an hour right? That's faster than highway speeds. There's no reason wheels designed for interplanetary roving should even need to go that fast. I really don't see the point of this thread. If this were a legitimate complaint I'd understand, but this just seems like senseless whining.
  10. Frankly I saw Bac9's assimilation into Squad coming from lightyears away. There's no way they were going to ignore his improved Mk2 and Mk3 plane parts, especially since time and time again C7 himself mentioned the stock plane parts were going to get an overhaul in the future.
  11. Squad should consider implementing some kind of docking aid in the game, since right now Docking seems to the hardest thing in the game to master right now. I personally have had no trouble with it, but I see why it would be difficult.
  12. Squad has internal deadlines and AFAIK they actually do set release dates within the company, but they stopped sharing with us when people kept getting mad at Squad for missing the date, whatever their reasoning is. Also, we used to have public experimentals, but people were getting pissy about that too when they realized they weren't as stable as the full release. In the beginning Squad gave us a lot, but the ungrateful ruined it for everyone.
  13. The Solar 2 OST (which I got when I ordered the game from the Humble Indie Bundle) is perfect music for orbiting.
  14. Too complicated, and side-mounted boosters aren't normally used due to added drag I believe.
  15. To do this Squad would have to retcon the game's lore where Kerbals are a peaceful race. Also, who would they go to war with? There are no countries on Kerbin, the whole planet is united.
  16. For one, I do the same thing. Two, oh my gosh the comments in your sig. We need to make this a real thing. "Engines are nominal. Wait, one of them just blew, one engine is kerbal".
  17. I'm just going to excitedly let Steam update my game and not care about what happens to my saves. I live such a hard and fast life, I can't even handle me sometimes.
  18. NASA messaged the Kerbal Twitter page yesterday morning. So yes. I really hope it gets to the point where Kerbal Space Program becomes as much a household name as Minecraft, with conventions and big events and really fun merch (kerbal plushies, posters, that kind of stuff), etc. etc. Really big YouTubers are starting to get in on the KSP bandwagon, like Markiplier. NerdCubed's dad, DadCubed, did a fantastic Nerd³ style video on the game. Even Zoey from the Yogscast is doing a consistent series of the game. More people need to know about and play this game.
  19. Squad used to give estimates, but people freaked out when the dates were missed. Personally it doesn't bother me. I've just been playing other games while I wait. I'd let the devs do their thing.
  20. Finagle'd a probe into Jool orbit, folded away the solar panels for aerobraking into Laythe orbit. All was going well, and I was confident enough in what I accomplished to do a quick save. Right after I did, it was then I realized I forgot to reextend the solar panels and the probe died. I was so angry at myself for wasting 2 hours on the mission just to have it fail, that I just went into my save file and gave the probe just barely enough power to be able to extend the solar panels. No regrets.
  21. Yep. Early last year we had people calling it "Kerfrica" or "Kafrica" during the great K-Syndrome outbreak of 2012.
  22. Wait, what if the Vanguard satellite is doing that now? It's still up there after all this time.
  23. Pretty much what Panichio said. The shuttle was badass, and I loved watching it launch. But I can't wait until we've got a proper capsule again.
  24. I'm alive! And I have my Art for Swans avatar again! But I think I lost nearly 400 posts. Eh, I'll live.
  25. I don't mind my post count or my avatar being reset. The situation was completely out of their control and I forgive them.
