323. Climbing out of a vehicle upside down and dropping onto their heads is a perfectly reasonable method of egress for astronauts.

Niicceeeee!

Depends what you mean by "cheating". If you mean , then yes. But only because people keep asking this question.
-
Or you could have let it die instead of bumping it back to the front page.

"Moar boosters" and "EXPLOSIONS" are running jokes that originated from the fact that a lot of new players have no idea how real rockets work, and the most they do is either try to add more thrust or blow up their rocket, or both. I know that for a fact because that's what I used to do. One of my earliest designs used tricouplers to stack as many fuel tanks and engines as I wanted. The reason why this applies to Kerbals is because the joke evolved, eventually becoming a character trait of the Kerbals.

Is it bad to use KSP mods?
AlternNocturn replied to Mantis Toboggan's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
No. In fact I'm about to load my game up with updated mods. Brb. -
This happens to me when I turn terrain detail way down.
-
I had to stop stuffing my install full with mods because they were slowing my game down. Alas, the withdrawal symptoms are beginning to rear their heads once more...

Why Are KSP engines and tanks so heavy?
AlternNocturn replied to Halsfury's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Because then the game wouldn't be fun. -
It's just a thing people do. Every game has fanboys, and there is nothing you, me, or anybody can do about it except pretend it isn't there. :/ Also KSP is awesome 10/10 GOTY GIVE THESE PEOPLE AN AWARD.

On Steam, I downloaded the 0.20 update and had it up and running within 10 minutes of release. The KSP Store gives you a totally DRM free copy of the game that you can manage yourself and keep multiple backups of. Take your pick.

Duncan of the Yogscast has begun a KSP series
AlternNocturn replied to Rockhem's topic in KSP Fan Works
I hate using the word elitist. It's demeaning and makes no sense. But it applies to some people in this thread. -
I don't see any broken promises or half-assed features, do you? Hmm... Let's see. Docking? Promised, yes. Very well done too. We got it. Career mode? They want to work on it. Resources? They're making good progress last I checked. Rover wheels, pretty planets, more parts, reentry effects... so far everything they promised made it into the game, will make it into the game, or is being worked on right now. I think you're just worrying about nothin'. Also, can I add that docking, reentry, one-man lander can, Skipper Engine, and a boatload of other useful and fun things in the game were originally requested by players? We have a competent community in the hands of a competent game development studio. There is literally nothing to worrying about.

I feel a dramatically more significant change after 0.20 compared to 0.19, but that may be because of all of the mods I had in 0.19. Regardless, the game doesn't guzzle my memory any more so that's a plus.

Your Definition of an Accomplished/Professional KSP Player.
AlternNocturn replied to Flixxbeatz's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My definition of any kind of gaming Pro is simply someone who fully understands all of the mechanics behind the game. A Starcraft pro understands the game 100% and plays it like a poet writes poems. A LoL pro knows exactly what he needs to do at any given moment. A KSP pro understands orbital mechanics and can reach (read: get into orbit around, at least) any planet in the system. I don't think of it as someone who plays the game super well at a championship/astrophysicist level. -
what kind of parts would you guys want? (beyond 0.20)
AlternNocturn replied to Veshpa's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Probe sized RCS, ASAS, and SAS from the KSPX pack. EDIT: Oh, and a camera part that records screenshots into the Kerbal knowledge base. Because it would be cool. -
Ummm? http://www.cafepress.com/kerbalspaceprogram.853547905 The logo's on there, it's just on the other side.

Will Squad Be Releasing This On Xbox One?
AlternNocturn replied to NeoMorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Ignoring the senseless Xbox bashing, despite the new console's relatively beefy specs, I still heavily doubt KSP will be able to run on it. This game is seriously hardware intensive due to the physics involved, and it's also 100% optimized for PC, so I doubt porting it would be easy, or even possible. It's more fun on PC anyway. Even if it did come to Xbox One, I wouldn't be buying it because I'm skipping Xbox this gen. -
Funniest loading screen slpash sentences
AlternNocturn replied to Moustachauve's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This is such an obscure reference and I only get it because I'm currently reading through the Ultimate H2G2 book as of this moment. Yay, I get to be a part of something! -
KSPX parts on the new official release?
AlternNocturn replied to stupid_chris's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Wait they added the Atlas? I still have the old KSPX parts so I might not have noticed it in the parts menu. EDIT: Yep, it's in there, but as the "Skipper" and not the "Atlas". Huh. I guess I don't need the mod version then. -
For reference, I have 2GB of single-channel RAM. That means I only have one 2GB stick in my PC. Before 0.20, the game took ages to load, especially since I had to have Steam open as well. 0.20 fixed that and now the game runs about 5 times better than it did before. I told you guys optimizations would have fixed problems on older systems! All the new parts are sexy and wonderful and OMG STOCK INLINE PROBES FINALLY. My only problem is I have no idea how to stick a manned Kerbal seat onto an SRB. Actually I have no idea how to use the seats at all, I thought they could just be added to the rocket like a normal command pod but apparently not. Also, the Hitchhiker module doesn't have an internal space. But other than that, fantastic stuff! This is already feeling like a finished product. If you just added Career mode and announced the game as finished right then and there, I would be all like "Cool!" and play the game forever and ever. TENOUTTATEN.
