  1. The microgravity experiments are fascinating, but since you could just have a centrifuge for much less, it isn't necessary.
  2. Which shouldn't be that much, but NASA has to get studies and subcontractors and subsubcontractors, and ship parts around the country... We could for 10 billion, we most certainly won't.
  3. Well, if nasa does it, it ends up costing 10-8 times as much. I'm not exaggerating. The James Webb Space Telescope cost 18 times the original prediction.
  4. http://www.popularmechanics.com/space/moon-mars/news/a20102/we-could-have-a-moon-base-for-10-billion/
  5. spaceflightinsider is good it has a really useful launch calender Also, JAXA is sending up an H11A rocket just minutes after spacex.
  6. A moon base would cost only 10 billion dollars. We could have had a dozen moon bases rather than the useless ISS.
  7. Over a dozen, since it involves the DSG.
  8. If you used Zubrin's plan. One MAV launch, one backup MAV, and then lob the crew directly to Mars.
  9. Yep. He's going to be using a jetpack, in addition to being suspended under a drone.
  10. We can build a fully functional suit with two caveats: 1. Nobody is going to spent 10 million on that. 2. It will only run for 30 seconds. It only works in an atmosphere. Electric ducted fans.
  11. Why not? It could in just three launches.
  12. NASA just announced it plans to reach alpha centauri by 2069. Good luck with that.
  13. This is why a larger suit would be more realistic, because you'd want padding. Also airbags.
  14. guy also has been working on an iron man suit for a year, but despite being cool, using 6 fans that are each 2 feet in diameter makes it basically just a drone with a person hanging onto it. Believe it or not, each fan can only lift 5 kilograms! So they will need a jetpack and a giant drone they are standing beneath.
  15. Hacksmith has resumed the iron man project. ...with 6 two foot diameter blades. Isn't it just a small helicopter at that point?
  16. If the DSG had a giant fuel tank for refueling moon landers, yes.
  17. Yes, it is very useful. Another useful site is project rho.
  18. This thread is starting to sound like a broken record.
  19. Wouldn't they get more jobs if they actually started launching, instead of delaying to 2023?
  20. Nothing. It would be approaching a target. And it would be hard to hit a small drone from 300,000 km away. I know TANSIS, but that doesn't mean you can actually target the drone.
  21. Actually, a single light second might be enough for a maneuverable small drone.
