  1. Well, the heat shield isnt reusable (its ablative), and it is a BEO craft, the stresses are far higher, and Congresses' doodallying meant that the Shuttle workforce retired and left aerospace, or moved to other companies due to lack of work, so they essentially dont have any experience with reusing rockets, let alone spacecraft, so the fact that partial capsule reuse will occur on the 6th flight, is pretty good, imo.

    Dots

So how do they work? How many posts are needed for a certain number of dots?
  3. not cost+ "The first six spacecraft will be acquired by cost-plus-incentive-fee ordering. Because the cost of a complex, high-tech system generally decreases over time as the design stabilizes and production processes mature, NASA will negotiate firm-fixed-price orders for future missions to take advantage of the anticipated spacecraft production cost decreases. Furthermore, the cost incentives on the cost-plus-incentive-fee orders are designed to motivate favorable cost performance during early OPOC production and drive substantially lower prices for any subsequent firm-fixed-price orders issued under this contract." Cost plus Incentive fee
  4. tater moment With this award, NASA is ordering three Orion spacecraft for Artemis missions III through V for $2.7 billion. The agency plans to order three additional Orion capsules in fiscal year 2022 for Artemis missions VI through VIII, at a total of $1.9 billion. The long-term plan is to reuse the recovered crew modules at least once. The first phase of reusability will start with Artemis II. Interior components of the spacecraft, such as flight computers and other high value electronics, as well as crew seats and switch panels, will be re-flown on Artemis V. The Artemis III crew module will be re-flown on Artemis VI. and: "With this award, NASA is ordering three Orion spacecraft for Artemis missions III through V for $2.7 billion. The agency plans to order three additional Orion capsules in fiscal year 2022 for Artemis missions VI through VIII, at a total of $1.9 billion. Ordering the spacecraft in groups of three allows NASA to benefit from efficiencies that become available in the supply chain over time – efficiencies that optimize production and lower costs." Thats ~633 mln USD for each Orion for AVI-AVIII, thou 1.35 bln for AIII-AV. Am rarted. AIII-AV Orions are 900mln, and AVI-AVIII Orions are 633mln. 5. Granted. But as you take it, a meteoroid strikes you right on the head, killing you instantly. I wish for a higher FPS in KSP.
  6. Yes. By varying the thrust in each chamber, the thrust can be vectored. Not possible. Alloys require metals, and carbon is, well, not a metal.
  7. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. yeah, i must agree with you there. NASA's graphics game has not been strong recently, such as this blatant error, and the use of Freelancer to choose the Gateway logo.
  9. Granted, but it is a Zimbabwean dollar, which is worth 0.00276319 USD. I wish for sleep.
  10. well, Zanz/NSEP sometimes streams on youtube, so you could possibly rewatch his streams to see how he draws humans?
  11. Nope, nope (cant drive), and yes kinda, if practice in a non serious situation counts. Almost been drowned. Had scissors thrown at them, barely missing their head. Begun training to eventually become a lifeguard.
  12. wait. since when did you become a moderator?

      yesterday? nice.

  13. How so? The Orion docked on the underside would remain in LEO or return, iirc. The only Orion on the Mars trip was mounted inline, at the front of the vehicle.l,
  14. Can the Kerman bit be removed from my name? Thankyou.
