  1. Bro when my cousin first showed me this game 2 years ago, I slapped together a super sonic transport in one go.
  2. Can I have a bare bones side view image? that would help a LOT.
  3. It has reaction wheels, but good job! Thats not a flying wing, it has a fuselage and a vertical control surface. Try again mate. If you need inspiration, I HIGHLY recommend reading a book called "Northrop Flying Wings", which gives a good history of all northrop flying wings from 1920s-1990s. Good stuff.
  4. So we all know how to build a basic plane, but thats with a fuselage. Who needs those? Forget fuselages, who needs vertical control surfaces? In this challenge, design and fly your own pure flying wing designs! CONSTRAINTS: CANNOT USE A VERTICAL SURFACE OF ANY TYPE! (vertical is defined as anything NOT on the same horizontal plane as the wings, such as a tail fin). FUSELAGES ARE FROWNED UPON! (Blended ones are fine, as you need to put the cockpit on somehow, but NO fuselages that are clearly separate of the wings). MUST BE ABLE TO REACH AT LEAST 10,000 METERS! MUST PROVIDE IMAGES FOR PROOF! Scoring system: 6 points total! Three for screenshot of a working plane (probably during takeoff and/or flight) Three for screenshot of the plane reaching 10000 Meters GOOD LUCK! ;D Bonus point if you can do it without SAS! My design would rock up and down with SAS so that was off.
  5. All of my own plane designs suffer from this once they get up to about 160 m/s, whether it be flying wing, SSTO, or just a cruising plane. All of my planes have at least two engines, as thats more reliable as I've found than only one engine due to more even distribution of thrust along the CoM.
  6. Ive seen a few people with working propeller planes, and even what was virtually a copy of grevious's wheel bike. How do you do that? I would love to know as I'm planning my first SSTO missions and I can't get enough fuel off the ground with my MK2 parts that are nice and aerodynamic. Maybe these propellers will help? no craft files please, as I've already found two outdated ones. Just show me cutaway images please.
  7. doesn't a rapier have a rocket mode? thats technically cheating. Unless you remove ALL oxidizer from the craft
  8. It is very sensitive to yaw (turn) and roll (spin) inputs. then again most of my planes are sensitive to that as well.
  9. Hell no. My launches go bad enough. I don't need some loveing pelican fly into my intakes or hitting my plane and screwing me over.
  10. Kerbal parachutes are easy to control, if only for me who is very experienced in minecraft elytra gliding. You dive a little to gain speed, and pull up to use it, only the parachutes would be clearly designed for gliding a little. I use em very well. Just set the altitude to 5000 so that if you are low in flight you immediately glide. Try using them like that ;D.
  11. It rolled forward ;P but good thing its very slow when it does this. but thanks for that might help a little
  12. I also don't find that very helpful, as I often forget that kind of thing when Im flying. I can fly things very smoothly, but its things like the compass headings that screw me over. I went to a 3 day camp of a naval aviation place, and it was only on the last day that I actually found the compass.
  13. Heres the thing: you first need to master BUILDING things like rockets and airplanes, then you need to master or at least understand how to achieve orbits around kerbin, THEN you can shoot for the mun. In my opinion, Im somewhere between orbits and building, as I am well educated on aerodynamics and such. Keep that in mind. Now I gotta stop my dumb plane from rolling forward on it's own.
  14. I made this plane today, using twin Whiplash engines, to explore the ice caps of kerbin, I got lost because of the NavBall, but maybe you guys can finesse some better results out of her? (small flight note: its VERY sensitive to both yawing and rolling movements, and is poor in U-turns, so maybe iron that out). It IS good at climbing though, and handles quite nicely when not turning or spinning.
  15. I find the default NavBall texture quite confusing, as it only reads north and it might be screwing with the success of my missions. Does anybody know of a good mod for navball textures? Im using the latest version of KSP, so keep that in mind. (on a small note, I would love a navball texture with green on black, with all 4 compass directions in green, but thats just a personal want).
  16. I would love one of the green and black ones but with the compass headings like north south etc.
  17. We all know about the SSTO thread, but what about that kind of thing for ROVERS? Well HERE IT IS! post all your weird and useful rover designs here! Ill start the fun!
  18. Currently designing an SSTO that is a blend of MK2 parts in front for aerodynamic piercing, with MK3 parts in the back for more fuel. I got this idea while taking a warm bath
