Ok looks like there is definitely a payload drag problem, I did a test earlier just using solar panels to see if they're shielded but using the aero gui option I can see some parts generating drag. Increasing the modules lookup radius a lot doesnt seem to have fixed it so far. Needs more investigation...

I get it at the very basic level but the SLA seems to be weird due to the nature of it being built from 4 sections perhaps. Unlike fairings or the hinged SLA, the jettison panels are each a single part and despite looking at the aero debugging im not sure of the exact source of the extra drag. Anyways I've tried... something. Please see if its helped at all.

Ugh thats annoying. I know we had trouble with the jettison version of the historical SLA as well. I think we mitigated it enough with a custom drag cube on the panels but not sure if its totally resolved. Will look into it some more. (doesnt help neither me nor cobalt know much about the KSP aero system)

The Skylab Teleoperator Retreival System is now on github in an early alpha state. Consists of a probe core (with 6 axis attitude control), optional solar panels, and independent prolusion kits each of which contains a large store of monopropellant and 8 thrusters (this works as an engine not RCS). Theres also a camera (with light), some separate lights, and an omni antenna (attached to the propulsion kit here). Little 0.3125m docking ports for probes. The top node of the probe core can be switched from the 0.625m point (for the apollo port) to this flat end like below.

On the subject of kitbashing, part of the reason I finally became motivated to do it was realising the modularity of it. The core itself has full 6 axis attitude control and can be used for satellite servicing missions without any propulsion kits. The number of propulsion kits could also be varied in the proposals so while Skylab was the main consideration and would use 4 kits, other less demanding notional missions might need only 2. Im hopeful people will find the core and the kits independently useful parts for kitbashing. was this correctly attached before and then happened after a reload? Im not sure what might cause this but could just be stock robotics bugs.

I do recall seeing D1T having additional MLI insulation somewhere but I cant find the source. Not a 100% sure though. Perhaps it meant in addition to D1 only Its just solar panels. Im going to configure the structure with large EC storage and maybe a probe core. Yes its APAS 75. The assumption at the time was that the APAS 75 would be the androgynous port of the future. As it turned out it ended up being APAS 89 but its reasonable to assume APAS 75 would have been a usable option if things had moved ahead earlier following its success in ASTP. Here's a closer look at the adaptor module im taking inspiration from. A similar thing is also there in the first picture in my previous post also with APAS 75. We're not going to have the telescoping sections and rotating ports etc since thats not really practical without robotics and I dont want to get into all of that for a docking node.

The 25kW power module was considered mainly for shuttle operations. It would have been berthed to the shuttle itself in most applications I think not 100% sure. One of the applications however was to use it to enhance a boosted skylab. Berthed to the shuttle alone older version of the proposal with skylab. About reboost, that's a maybe.
