Redirect asteroid by mining it for reaction mass?
Xd the great replied to zolotiyeruki's topic in Science & Spaceflight
well asteroids are huge, small ones are hard to detect, so diverting one to save humanity is hard. Unless we liberate it. -

Xd the great replied to Xd the great's topic in KSP1 General Mod Development Help and Support
I dont really care about the elctricity consumption effect, but thanks anyways. How do I change the name of my engine? It is sill showing the dawn name and description. -

crazy ideas, but I love it. -
Just another crazy idea. Do we have missions to destroy the enemy base in career mode?

Xd the great replied to tater's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Government funding is a major problem in terms of space agencies -
true, but if we are to explore mars with humans, we need something large enough to carry things into orbit.
-
Hmm, time to do more learning. Online.

Sorry my mistake. I thought the soyuz, not the proton, used hypergolic fuel. But does the russian space agency have any plans for the future? -
The possible future American "space force"

How are we even gonna be able to launch anything we need? The sls is still years away. -

This works, but the energy requirement will be high. -
So, you have a plane on a conveyor belt...

Then, the whole thing will take off. Assuming the tradmill survives the strong airflow around it... -
Well yeah, rocket launches are not such a big deal, unless something blew up...

Titanium? We can use the mmon as a base, as it has no atmosphere and low gravity. Or a refueling station.- 442 replies

Getting to mars, land and return with a single rocket? The engine is not that expensive, it uses high pressure gas to push fuel into the combustion chamber. No crazy turbopumps required. NASA wants a moon space station. Time for the sea dragon.
-
Plus NASA lost a space prode due to unit conversion.

Advanced radiative cooling through meta-materials
Xd the great replied to Streetwind's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Wait... this thingy will work best for giant aerospike engines! -
Well, sea dragon launches from the sea, so no launchpad upgrades. The technology is readily available, with a minimalist design that us just crazy. I think it will cost quite little to do R and D. Yes, the last space race was kinda pointless, but this time we are aiming at S0ACE COLONIES. Yes, cooling is a big problem on aerospike engies.

I suppose the space shuttle is more flawed than the x33

Well, it would work as a photonic engine, you just need a light source...
