  1. -64 - Usually I just have low amounts of oxidizer - usually I run out during circularisation - unless I want to land on the Mun or Minmus. That's for nuclear craft of course. Here's one of my earliest SSTOs: https://kerbalx.com/fulgur/Starchaser-II
  2. -62 - Also try a Mk1 spaceplane with two RAPIERs & a nuclear for your first SSTO. It makes it easier. Maybe 4 if you can't get the profile right, that's definitely overkill though.
  3. -60 - No I was doing it so nobody would ninja me @LittleBitMore
  4. -58 - Well... 1) Reduce drag as much as possible. Use Vernors instead of 4 way RCS and have a pointy nose, use the inline Mk1 and Mk2 ports. 2) Have enough engine to get past 400m/s. HOWEVER YOU CAN. Seriously, somebody made a SSTO with a pair of SRBs attached. 3) After 400m/s you get this burst of power from your RAPIERs. If you have enough engine, you can ascend at maybe 15-20 degrees, if not, at around 5 to 10. 4). Ignite space-only engines (Terriers, nuclear) as low as possible. On Kerbin that's around 18km. You can find out by fiddling with the slider or waiting for ISP to be nearly 100%. 5) Switch RAPIER mode as late as possible, because air-breathing is so much more efficient. Around 23-25km depending on your intake air.
  5. No. I ninja'd you for once. Disregarding that it goes to -54 -
  6. I didn't see your ninja so I edited it after I did. It now says -51. You didn't say a number so -53 - @LittleBitMore
  7. -51 - No I am usually 100% stock. Apart from ReStock+ and sometimes USI-LS.
  8. You mean -49 cause that annoying + ninja'd you. So -50- HALFWAY THERE YAY! I do mean nuclear engines. You're not going to have a RTG for an engine are you?
  9. -49 - Annoying person has ninja'd me. What's best is RAPIER+atomics. For RAPIERS, if you accelerate to 400m/s you suddenly get this burst of acceleration which you can use to get out of the lower atmosphere without losing much thrust. Also they only flame out at 25km, and you can engage atomics at 18km. Plus the closed cycle mode means you have lots of thrust to get to orbit.
  10. -48 - I love spaceplanes because if you get them right, they're really easy to fly. As they're planes, they usually have a lot of control authority.
  11. -46 - Usually I spend most of my time designing SSTOs. I can't even now get a Mk3 one to go straight on the runway...
  12. Sorry didn't see you. My favourite is 620 at the moment, the one about flying on Titan & having friends in Greek mythology. -40 -
  13. Because we are sorting out the confusion this is now-37 and @LittleBitMore's should be -36. -37-
  14. What do you mean? I posted -26 you posted -27 and now I'm posting -28 (-)
  15. -24 - Do you read the explainxkcd.com website? I have to as I'm not American and don't understand some of the more everyday comics
  16. -22- That's one of my favourites. Plus almost all of the Black Hat ones.
