Well kill two bits of space debris with one missile, and learn to code in KSP!

I didn't mean the personality. I meant the idiosyncrasies of the code, such as the fact that I still can't get orbital insertion right. Which adds another dimension. Also, we should also learn to code.

If you're going to do that sort of thing (as the captions), do it properly!

MOD WITH SPECIAL CORIDORS / AIRLOCKS
fulgur replied to Firsty Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Building a stock base usually requires some sort of rover to carry the parts around, and making sure that everything is the same height. You should send an exploratory mission first to find a flat area which has enough % ore to support your base, then start building. Alternatively, mods such as Kerbal Planetary Base Systems or Wild Blue Pathfinder (I prefer the first) make building bases easier with dedicated parts, and the mods OSE Workshop, with KIS and KAS, allow you to 3D-print new parts, such as the solar panels and antennae everyone forgets. Whatever kind of base you are building, you should practise on Minmus first, because its 'flats' are sea-level and 100% flat, and they come in several different biomes of which one is likely to have a high ore %. -
MOD WITH SPECIAL CORIDORS / AIRLOCKS
fulgur replied to Firsty Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
There's one called Flexible Docking Ports. The Wild Blue Industries set has a part which I think will connect two craft via KAS. Nertea's Stockalike Station Expansion Redux has some Klaw-like connectors which extend quite a long way. Alternatively, why do you need this? Is it because you can't dock yet, a stupid design decision, or something else? -
This site doesn't do hosting of images or videos. You have to upload to a site (for images Imgur is preferred) and then copy the image/video location. Today I landed on the Mun in the latest Career.

That's not a sin, that's just being a Kerbal. My main sin is that I forget to test how my spaceplanes fly with zero fuel. Then I go up to the station and do some stuff, sometimes going to the Mun or Minmus if it's that kind of plane, and then I re-enter and die. Then I have to revert back to launch.

By Laythe Ascent Vehicle, you mean a Posideon SSTO, right?

Traced out a screenshot of a plane, because I decided I should learn to use my photo-editor. Turned out quite nicely, I think, although the middle engine (a Panther) is awful and looks like one of those blunt nose-cones you get early in Career.

What do you spend more time on, airplanes or rockets?
fulgur replied to έķ νίĻĻάίή's topic in KSP1 Discussion
No, I've done it a couple of times. The trick is landing, which I cannot do in kOS or map mode (where my potato runs much faster). -
Building space station kerbal
fulgur replied to michaelbezos1's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
When you are building a space station, you need a rocket, and several different space station modules. I like using the same rocket for all my modules, or you can build individual ones; if you build a very good rocket and save it as a sub-assembly, it will probably work for all the parts. Next you have to design the bits of the space station. Here's one I made earlier: It's not all stock; you can see the greenhouses and recyclers, plus it was early career so I used a lot of the small solar panels, which I replaced when I updated the station with larger fuel tanks. You don't need that many solar panels, unless you're planning on running an ISRU operation (extracting fuel from ore, either mined from a nearby planet/moon or an asteroid). Most space stations are made of few modules, because it's easier. If you are in sandbox or late career, you can have just three or four massive modules with all the fuel you could possibly need. It's quite easy to fly a rocket to orbit, a skill I assume you have mastered, but the difficult and time-consuming bit is rendezvous and docking. There are many tutorials, and I recommend getting an alignment indicator mod, to show when you are pointing in the right direction. Basically, you need to be pointing along the axis of the port, so that if you were in front of it, you would be pointing towards it. Then use RCS to move in front of it, so you are pointing directly at it, and slowly move into dock, slowing down about 10m away to about 0.2m/s. -
Spaceplanes or rockets - which do you prefer and why?
fulgur replied to Chakkoty's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I prefer spaceplanes because they are more manoeuvrable and also they are re-usable and so cheaper in Career. Also they're very cool. -
No such thing as too much KSP. Wait, what is wrong with your avatar? There is a pink face! What has happened to you?

Minmus base rotating on the ground - why?
fulgur replied to Shmauck's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Does it do this all the time? What about for other craft? -

I really don't need the first post after every chapter, but until my partner wakes up and finds that I have been telling him how to insert pictures and shouting, "I WANTED THE FIRST POST! FOR A MODLIST! AND KERBALX LINKS!", here are some teasers: This was the A-3, which I sent into polar orbit to do some SCANsat-ing of Kerbin. And this Bob Kerman in polar orbit of the Mun.

(1) No. (2). NO. (3). NO!!!!!1!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111!!!!!!!!! (4) Because if you have a backstory and universe and everything world-built, what will happen to the fanworks? You can have First Flight and TSoES in the same game! You can have K:JO and FSP! Without a backstory, you can make up whatever you like! And that is why this game is so popular, and remains so. Now go make up your own story around the anomalies, and compare it to TSoES, and see if you want a backstory to remove one, or both, of those wonderful ideas.
