Today is the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Take a moment to remember. It must never happen again. A comemmoration for Holocaust Memorial Day. Source: Ian Forsyth / Getty Images

You can take screenshots with [F1], they appear in KSP/Screenshots. Then upload them to Imgur and copy the image location, and you get an image like this: Which is what I did in KSP today: built a new SSTO using only fuel-filled wings and elevons. It's got the ΔV to go to Minmus and refuel. Shown on a re-entry test. It's called the Ilion and you can get it here. '

In a moment of serendipity, I decided that it was time to post one of my SSTOs in this thread, at the same time as the person I had built this SSTO as a demonstration to. (similarities: carries crew, ISRU-equipped, docking-capable) Lifting off the runway. Note to self: remember to move rear wheels upwards so it doesn't need to go over the edge to take off... Needs a bit of coaching (less than 5 deg) to go past 400m/s but then flies like a dream. A fast, fuel guzzling dream. At 18km we engage the NERVA. At 25km we switch RAPIER mode. Orbital insertion with almost exactly 2km/s to spare. Would have gone to Minmus but would have been tempted to refuel, which is against the rules. (It can do Minmus, but I'm not sure about the margins for return and a KSC landing). De-orbit burn over the Desert coast... hang on this isn't the coast! Spent so long fiddling with prop planes I almost forgot that Kerbin rotates annoyingly when making de-orbit burns. Coming in hot... too hot, we almost overshoot. Almost a perfect landing! (Give me a break, I did most of it from map-mode because Linux makes everything fast except KSP...) Landed at the KSC! The Ilion can be found on KerbalX.

As the forum does not host images, you need to (1) make an Imgur account, then (2) upload your images to Imgur, then (3) copy the image location to the Forums, where it will be shown to the rest of the forum in all its explodey, Moar Booster-y glory...

Suggestion: Changing Fuel Type in Tanks
fulgur replied to fulgur's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
That is not the point, I have Snark's Simple Fuel Switch now. The point is that it should be stock, because the 4 fuel types (Lf, LfO, mono and Xe) are equally useful for many applications, and most space-based craft are not planes, but forced to use Mk3 parts as they are the ones which have Lf... -
Making Minmus more challenging
fulgur replied to desert's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You can go to Duna quite easily (it's 2km/s to circularise) with Poodles, which work with flotillas and other one-way things, but are too darned inefficient for a large Weltraumfahrzeugtrager, as I think it is known. -
Making Minmus more challenging
fulgur replied to desert's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
In my opinion, the point of Minmus is to give you RAPIERs and NERVAs before you go off to Duna or Jool. And the inclination is big enough that you don't always get an encounter if launching equatorial. Do you really want to go to Duna without nuclear engines? -
That sure is a big dumb rocket. But it got the job done. Why not build a SSTO? If you haven't yet, they take a while to perfect, but eventually you get the hang of them.
-
If you (a) move the landing gear back or (b) take off more slowly you'll fly much better. Also it's a skill, it comes with practice, unlike Big Dumb Rokets, and is incredibly rewarding when you get it right...
-
Hey It's quite a nice rocket but you could improve it; add some boosters and pilot it well and you could easily make orbit! ALSO I HAVE TOLD YOU THIS 5 TIMES USE [F1] TO TAKE SCREENSHOTS, THEY TURN UP IN YOUR KSP/SCREENSHOTS FOLDER, OR JUST USE PRINT SCREEN AND CROP, I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT AS YOU ARE ON WINDOWS AND HAVE REVEALED THAT BY YOUR BLURRY PHONE PICTURES

In a challenge that I posted at the top of page 2, several years ago, it was named the K'Yangtze. My landmark was the lake and surrounding mountains. Therefore, when I named it, I thought first of the source of the Yangtze and having decided that I didn't like that name, I named it the Gangokri. I didn't post the lake itself because that would have made it too easy. Unless you live under a rock, or on a rock in the far reaches of the Kerbol system, you would know where it was instantly.
-
I actually think that may be another lake, it looks a little bit smaller. This calls for a flight! In my new 100m/s prop lead zeppelin thingy! I'll get back to you in a few months... - - - - - Since this is my opportunity to annoy everyone in the future, I first thought about naming it: Lake Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Lake Mons Lacusque Altus Lake καταδυση? Having decided not to annoy people with those names, I progressed to: Lake Tanggula (source of the Yangtze) Lake Gangotri (source of the Ganges) Having kerbalised my chosen name: Lake Gangokri I eventually decided on the latter, because I like the name more. Also, it fulfils my aim of annoying people as the river is named the K'Yangtze yet the source is the Lake Gangokri.

I personally would nominate either: - Kerbfleet: A Jool Odyssey for being such an awesomely made story with a kraken-damned cliffhanger (and also it might lure back Kuzzter) - TSoES for being a sweepingly crazy story, and for having kerbals sing 70's songs - FSP for services to keeping ancient mods alive But I also agree with WDYDIKSPT.

What year is it in your save, and how did you get there?
fulgur replied to Jodo42's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I only ever got up to... 20 years in the one sandbox save where I did challenge flights. Jool-5, testing out some Duna designs and a failed Eve ascent vehicle. Currently on Y0D0 in my most frequented save; with my current potato it's so much more fun sitting in the SPH than wrestling with a brick-SSTO at a couple of frames per second. -
DID YOU KNOW... (1) F1 allows you to take screenshots! They appear in a folder [your KSP directory]/Screenshots. You are playing on Windows, I can tell from your pictures. (2) You can use video capturing software to get videos, the nice kind helpful people on this forum who do videos will tell you how (head over to the Kerbal Network) (3) If you have specific problems head over to the Gameplay Questions forums for all your q's to be answered. (4) I have told you (1) at least 3x and you continue to take screenshots by taking pictures of the screen with your phone. It's all blurry and we can't really help you if we can't see your craft.

(Cancelled for now) Voyage: The Animated Series, Recruiting Thread
fulgur replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP Fan Works
I'd love to help but have no idea what I can do. I can't draw well and I'm not doing voice acting. Basically I spend my time playing KSP, writing about KSP and occasionally doing miniature amounts of computer coding. Guess I could be a pretentiously annoying fact-checker Scientific Advisor... -
Dammit, forgot to keep up. And out of rep...like...things.

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
fulgur replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Dammit! Out of replikethings! -
This one appears to be the problem: You are not pointing in the right direction! You must point towards the manoeuvre symbol - there is even a SAS option for it! Otherwise you are just going the wrong way and will never get to wherever you are going. Also, use [F1] to capture screenshots instead of getting blurry phone photos. They appear in your KSP folder (C://Kerbal Space Program, or something else if you have Steam). You can then upload them to a sharing site i.e. Imgur. The forum doesn't do image hosting, you have to copy the image location in the right-click menu.

The Stock Space Race Continued, Jool+moons
fulgur replied to kspnerd122's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Oh yes, what about kOS? I think MJ is not that argument but will that be allowed as well? EDIT: Can we science-farm the Mun and Minmus? Assuming that we can as it's a new save, and anyway I need nuclear engines! And RAPIERs... (To be clear: According to the in-game Sort By Tech Tier, T1 is the single node which makes T6 the one before nuclear engines.) -
The Stock Space Race Continued, Jool+moons
fulgur replied to kspnerd122's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Can I join as INRO? I will start a Science Mode with Tier 6 & suggest that for everyone. Can I use Restock? It just changes the part models. -
Unfortunately it doesn't come in blue (unless of course you have KerbPaint or similar) but you can now get it on KerbalX! It's part of a package deal; I got horrendously bored trying (a) to land it on the Gale (it keeps falling off) and (b) trying to make Gale fly with a robotic ramp. So I've just attached the two together. Now I've got to fly it somewhere interesting. I wonder where on the forums could I possibly find somewhere like that? Note that the KerbalX version has some modded parts in the form of Restock+, which Should Be Stock™ even if they are in the new and Revamped style. Such as really long 0.625m tanks (those beside the cargo... runway... helipad... thing are just 2 parts) and hemispherical tanks (on the Leaf).

How can I stop robotic joints flexing?
fulgur replied to fulgur's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Rigid attachment is on. Autostrut to grandparent is also on, when possible (on fan shroud to servo). The problem is crossing the servo, where it bends. Which causes the thing to flip out of control. No amount of RCS, reaction wheels or anything else change it.
