KSP Interstellar Extended Support Thread

Interesting. I think I may have just encountered the same problem. It seems like, air breathing engines do not register intake atm as replenishing. So even if you have air intakes on the engine, it will not register and once the initial (small) supply of 'intake air' is burnt up, the engine flames out. I've replicated this on KSPIE latest and game version 1.7.0 -

The green drill is for mining ocean water I believe. I haven't used that yet. I was able to make 51,000 units of HTP in 120 days Universal drill -> regolith Processor -> Regolith process Electrolizer -> water electrolysis Converter -> Amthraquinone process = HTP I myself have a question; What does the 'max secondary power usage', 'electric priority' and 'electric power control' do? In my testing, I have not seen any change when I toggle these -

This might happen because the stock part is modified (the stock NERV is modified by KSPIE). Does this happen if you load the saved craft, remove and re-add the Juno engine? -
I've been playing with The World Beyond (removed it because I can't actually get to any stars here, and it adds 10 minutes to my load time).. Sentar Expansion, Dwarf Planets Plus, and Extra Solar (Valentine)

A question - What does the 'Max secondary power usage', 'electric priority', and 'electric power control' options on several reactors do? In my testing, I haven't seen any change in any kind of output by changing these options -

I can also replicate this. I receive the same error above. I'm running 1.7.0.2483 with the latest version of KSPIE -

This, I haven't a clue. I wasn't able to find an answer since I started watching this thread a few months myself -

Thermal engines should work everywhere. This appears to be a conflict with realism overhaul. Plasma and Magneto nozzle (to me) seem to give low thrust, but incredibly high isp -

I was indeed able to replicate this! Having each three refinery module is a good thought so that you can do all three processes at the same time. You can do this with the all-in-one converter, but you can do only a single process at once However now it begs the question, of what defines where alumina can be found? I did hyperedit to Minmus flats and I couldn't mine it there. I had to drive to normal ground to be able to mine it for some reason. -

I see..... that is something. Yes, I agree. That would be an amazing thing to have added to KSPIE @FreeThinker, is it possible? -

I'd be willing to say that is a limitation of the game. Warp moves your ship in the direction it is pointed, so it will say you are going in a straight line, but when you jump out, you retain the velocity and trajectory you had before you started warp -

@flyguybc, might you post the craft file? If only to take it apart and see how everything is set up. Thank you -

The ISRU Fabricator doesn't seem to have the option to do the Anthraquinone process... The only options I have (it doesn't have the refinery window option) are AluminiumFiel % LqOX, and create Nuclear Saltwater Additionally... I still need help. I threw together a craft with the following parts: Stock drill/convertotron, all-in-one ISRU refinery, IFS Cryogenic tank set to hold HTP, a stock fuel tank set to hold only Oxidizer, and an IFS Cryogenic Dual tank set to hold only Oxidizer too. I'm mining ore and converting it into Ox. When I try to start the Anthraquinone process, I receive the message saying missing hydrogen and oxygen. https://i.imgur.com/HLkxaBb.jpg At this point, I'm unsure what I'm missing. Please assist :-( -- I seem to not know how to turn Ox into Oxygen and Hydrogen -

I will try this the next time I play. Would using the stock mining drill and converter be sufficient, or might it be better to use one of the IE more efficient in any way? Does this require more or less power? I imagine that using more than a single warp engine would be cumbersome on a spaceplane. Likewise, aside from warp mass (which looks like it is 4/8/12), is there any difference between the small/folding/large drive? They are, more or less, small/med/large drives, correct? Folding doesn't do anything the others do not do (aside from have an animation)? -

I only used nitrogen. This was before the normal zpinch was changed to be ineffective in the atmosphere. Here is the craft file I used. It worked and handled well enough go to and from Kerbin, Even, Duna, and the Jool systems (including Tylo with some fancy takeoff) https://kerbalx.com/the-jxjvrq/Zpinch-Plane-34 It has a single trialpha reactor and a folding warp drive (I'm not sure if a small drive is any better?). It was a bit underpowered because I couldn't seem to start warp very fast or as often as I would like. But I could land it fairly easliy everywhere. ISRU, the only thing I at thus point had understood was using a refrigerator for nitrogen. I don't know how to make HTP nor do I know much how to refuel it on airless planets. ---- I've tried to modify this to include the positron reactor, thermal nozzle (I've tried the Krusader and the thermal turbojet), singularity reactor (which I've edited the part file to allow scaling below 5m to fit without being abnormally large) to create positrons, as well as a MHD generator to generate power from the positron reactor (didn't work because of overheating when I try to do much of anything but use the thermal nozzles). Likewise in the above attempts I've tried to include the positron creator part (without the singularity reactor), even to the point of editing the part file so that it has a net gain of positrons when used with the MHD generator, but still this doesn't accomplish what I want because of overheating when I charge warp. -

Indeed! Now, I'm going to make a request... it may be a bit of a stretch... but.. Would anyone be able to provide me a craft that can SSTO anywhere (from an atmosphere, mind), with warp, and the ability to refuel most places? As is, I'm struggling to create a craft that can fly, and that can generate enough power for warp, and has enough stuff to ISRU in atmosphere and on airless bodies. I can't get all of them down. Any help or an example craft would be splendid. I'm only using the IE mod for parts. I've tried combinations of antimatter reactors with thermal nozzles, areospike zpinch.. The closest I got was using a normal zpinch before it was changed to work poorly in atmospheres, but even then it was a bit underpowered with a trialpha reactor. Many thanks -

Actually.... I think this may be user error. I threw together a very simple craft (air intake, cockpit, thermal reactor and the turbojet) and I was able to get thrust after I reentered the atmosphere. When I tested with my other craft, air intakes were all open And... likewise the same with the areospike zpinch. I think something on my craft has crossfeed disabled and it is not allowing intake atmosphere into the engine. Greeeat >.> Yep, that is what it was. I think. I removed and replaced the engines and it worked without a hitch. Shrug -

I wish to report a bug. Similar to the areospike zpinch, the thermal turbojet seems to be bugged in that, once you leave an atmosphere, you can not switch back to atmospheric intake. This screenshot was taken landed in the grasslands after going into orbit. Atmospheric intake worked fine on takeoff. I suspect all engines that can use atmospheric intakes have similar behavior. Scratch all of the above. It is user error -

One option would be using a thermal power receiver. Can launch a thermal rocket without the reactor . Alternatively, you can use the ATLITIA (sp?) electric thruster for a smaller launch vehicle -

I'm hoping you could help. Since trying to update my SSTO I have been having trouble. If I use the normal zpinch, I can use methane in atmos, however Kerbal (or Eve) do not have sufficient amounts for me to extract it and remain in flight. I've tried to use the areospike zpinch, and I'm able to get off the ground, and into orbit with a combination of air breathing and nitrogen extraction, however upon reentry I don't seem to have the ability to switch it back to air breathing. It only says flame out, even when I'm well within the atmosphere. Additionally, I seem to lose control much much easier than on the previous update. I'm not sure what has changed, but when I had the folding drive (and was in that part, less aerodynamic) I was entirely in control in Kerbal at all speeds. Here is my craft; https://kerbalx.com/the-jxjvrq/Zpinch-Plane-34
