Eve is also known as "The Purple Widow Maker" - for reasons. Or, in other words, landing and returning (!) from Eve is considered one of the the most difficult tasks in KSP. That said, if you want to go for this endeavor, I suggest you check the forum here as well as youtube for threads and videos how fellow Kerbonauts have been doing this. -

Yes, I did read that too. The argument "burn time" is not an argument at all here though imo, the only two parameters of interest in this context are TWR and dv (plus maybe costs). -
Thing is, I'm happy to pay for a good fix-the-bugs release, but not for a new-features-and-new-bugs release (or DLC, for the matter). And no, I don't want to open another one of these old discussions about what the publisher is obliged to deliver, or what the customer can expect for what amount of money, or what KSP is worth. This is just my personal opinion here.

My 45 tons lifter quick test build has 6 Kickbacks (1st stage) and 1 Mainsail (2nd stage). What @Brikoleur said: -

Granted. Unfortunately they belong to a tech tree node not implemented yet. I wish for smaller parachutes and solar panels for my sounding rockets.

Have you enabled this option? Or maybe you need to load an older save game if the Kraken has been too hungry.

This! My preferred numbers are almost identically, for the 1st stage I usually use SRBs only (save for heavy payload over approx. 150 tons). Why SRBs only you may ask: SRBs, in the last say 30s of burn, provide an immense thrust. I try to reach about 12 km altitude with the the 1st stage, and about 450 m/s vertical speed. 2nd LfOx stage then can go with the much lower TWR of mentioned 1.2., no need for overall expensive and heavy engines. -

I remember the constant stuttering of 1.7.3 every half minute or so for half a second, don't want to have that back. I was quite happy with 1.9.1, and 1.10.1 is ok too for me. I'm wondering though, why does almost everyone immediately upgrade to every new version, even very experienced players as I can see on Twitch? And obviously, most folks are fine with all the newly introduced issues instead of reverting to an older, more stable (read: less critical bugs) version. Beyond my understanding.

We had the same point already with KSP 1.4, and it took until 1.6 when old, critical bugs were finally fixed, if you remember. So do I, makes reverting very easy and painless. Those 4-5h were just the time playing 1.11.0 before I decided to revert back to 1.10.1 Personally, while I think robotics, EVA construction, etc. are nice features, I never had a NEED to use those. Imo, better to fix bugs properly instead of adding new optional features plus breaking stuff that used to work fine.

Bigger / smaller, personal perception, isn't it. Which I did mention couple of times in earlier posts. Annoying bug, but in the meantime we know workarounds. Don't have those for the newly introduced bugs from 1.11.x

I've lost maybe 2, or 5 hours, before reverting, but for me, absolutely worth it. *your mileage may vary*, isn't it? The very one bug in 1.10.: fuel transfer for me. In the meantime, fellow KSP players did find workarounds. I can live with that. Better a known devil than an unknown Beelzebub.
