Yes! This is important!!! Just think about what could happen if I order the wrong brand of snacks for my Kerbals! They'll mutiny! They'll all vanish in a puff of smoke! . . . Oh, you say that's my bad piloting? Not the snacks? Really? Oh, well.

I want my money back! Every penny that I paid for KSP 2! Oh, I haven't paid you anything yet. So I guess you are free to do as you like. O.K. Jokes aside. (And, yes, that was supposed to be a joke!) Take the all time that you need to make a good product. I would be very unhappy if KSP 2 would get delayed and delayed like other games that we won't mention, but considering that Take-Two has yet to see a single penny from us I'm not actually worried about that.

O.K. Cadbury apparently cannot decide which shade of violet they want to use. *grrrrr* I decided to nab (= link) an image from Tesco that looked most like a picture of an actual product (and not so much like a CGI). I also added Callier for those who think that this is the right shade of violet. P.S. Yes, Cadbury and Milka are both owned by Kraft Foods Inc. (Or however they call themselves now.) P.P.S. O.K. Acording to the forum software this is now a "hot" topic. LOL
-
And? Names? Links to images? When I paste "Swiss chocolate that comes in these kinds of violet wrappers" into Google image search, then I get images of Milka and Cadbury.
-
Do you have a link to a free-to-use image of "Dairy Milk"?

Well, I'm not building dedicated jet-powered rovers, but I do taxi around a bit in my planes when needed. But this is usually to get from a safe (well, safe-ish) landing spot to where I want to go. If I want to go any significant distance on Kerbin, Duna, or Eve then I take to the air (I haven't really explored Laythe yet). And if it is a place that is hard to get to, then I take my VTOL. Yes, as far as I can tell the landing gear works as well on the other planets as on Kerbin. But I usually don't taxi too fast.

Is there Swiss chocolate that comes in these kinds of violet wrappers?

Tips & tricks for making a Cube
AHHans replied to Hotel26's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
My suggestion is to first make two squares that will be two opposite sides of the finished squares; add the four connecting links to one, the other, or both (in theory it shouldn't matter, but I would probably add two on diagonally opposing sides to each of the squares); and finally dock the two parts together, making all four of the connections at the same time. This worked well with my Nauvoo Asteroid Station, which launched as two identical parts that were then joined in orbit. But this station is a lot stiffer (it also has some extra struts that got jettisoned after assembly), and - which is probably more important - is has a control point in the center of each square. So I could tell SAS to point each part at the "target" and then I only had to make sure that the relative rotation is lined up during the docking. But otherwise the maneuver should be essentially the same. -
I cannot let this question be undecided. So I started a poll in a thread dedicated to this very issue. Follow the link below and help us decide this all important question once and for all!
-
Fellow Kerbonauts. I need your help in deciding this all important question. I believe that by now you all have seen the promotional picture for the upcoming KSP 1.10 upgrade. But if you need a reminder here it is again: As you cannot fail to notice our four intrepid Kerbals are snacking on bars of chocolate that is packaged in violet wrappers. What do you think? Is this chocolade from Milka (left) or Cadbury (right), or is it from Callier (bottom)?

question regarding rendevouz
AHHans replied to Joe.L's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I can't believe that nobody has already mentioned @Snark's Illustrated guide to docking. It might be old but still applies, and it is IMHO (one of?) the best guide to docking around. (As in: it explains docking in the way I do it. (Except for the mod. Real men don't need mods to dock!)) It also has a section about rendezvous that might be useful. -
Good point, I had actually added olive oil. What I also forgot - to add to today's soup not to the recipe - was adding sour cream / creme fraiche at the end. Well, it'll keep till next time. Yellow peas either fall in the category "anything that doesn't become totally horrible when boiled too much" or in the category "not AHTech Industries' soup anymore". When I use peas or lentils or beans I use them instead of the potatoes instead of in addition to them. But maybe I'll try that some time soon. I know that essentially nothing is thrown away, but that's why I added "for human consumption". I do kind of expect that the parts that are not eaten by humans fetch a lower price than the parts that are. (Although I may be wrong there.) And I was more thinking about the parts that are used for pet (cats and dogs mostly I presume) food, I'm not sure I'll want to eat the parts that are not even used for that.

No no no no nooooo! No pig leg, blood, or vinegar in my soup! I agree that this is also a variation of the "throw everything in a pot and boil until it stops moving" maxim of cooking, my variation is mostly vegetarian. (And if you need vinegar then add it yourself, preferably where I can't see it.) Pig leg and blood may be acceptable as low-impact animal protein ingredients. If it is indeed the case that pig legs and blood are more or less leftovers from the meat industry - i.e. that buying more of that will not influence the number of animals raised and butchered - then I'm all for eating more of that. But a) that would be another recipe and b) I don't know where to get that and how to deal with that. E.g. how do I see if blood has gone bad, can I really boil blood for an indeterminate time without it ruining the soup? Btw. does anyone here know which parts of animals are essentially leftovers, i.e. not really used for human consumption?

Potato Vegetable Soup a la AHTech Industries: Take a good helping of potatoes (e.g. 1 kg), peel, cut into pieces, add to pot Add water, salt, and some olive oil and set pot to a low boil Take whatever vegetables you have around, peel where need, cut into pieces and sort by time it needs to boil before being edible. at least some carrots and leek celeriac, onions, and cabbage do well in limited quantities but anything that doesn't become totally horrible when boiled too much will do Add vegetables to pot in intervals according to above list. For the non-vegetarians: add some diced bacon to the pot (usually at the end of the list above) Preferably stop adding stuff to pot before pot is (too) full Stir pot occasionally Boil until everything a semi-homogeneous mass, or you are too hungry and don't want to wait any longer. Season with pepper and/or any spices that you have handy. Serve in a deep bowl Don't forget to switch off the oven when done. P.S. Yes, AHTech Industries is an engineering company not a five-star restaurant.

@Dragon01 and @KerikBalm: Thanks for the explanations!

Can you explain what you mean with "ADE"? It doesn't look like you are talking about Adobe Digital Editions or Atlantis Diesel Engines. (SCNR!) What do you mean with "models that don't have an 'S' at the end"? And while it may make it hard(er) to outright eliminate the virus, persons that are not infectious for four or more days but only one or two days will make the epidemic much more manageable. [Start personal rant] A similar thing can be said about the crappy face masks that we are now forced to use in Germany(*). Even if they only prevent a third or less infections that would have happened without them it will make a difference for the spread in the general population. It wouldn't do excrements(**) for a nurse or similarly exposed person, it would just mean that they get infected maybe a day later. So they need decent protective equipment. I also don't think that eliminating the virus is that important. If we can reduce the spread to a low number of new infections per day without restricting our economy or social life, then that would be good enough for me. And, yes, that would include being able to have large parties - like a sports event - with lots of people in close contact, without spreading the disease too much. Our western society has lived with deadly and infectious diseases - like the measles - well enough that some people don't consider them enough of a threat anymore to get their kids vaccinated. Another issue that I believe often gets overlooked is that the doctors learn more and more about the best treatment of COVID-19. So everything else being the same (i.e. no overloaded health system or so) getting sick a few month later in the early phase (say May vs. March) will give you a better chance of survival - even if only slightly. And I believe that knowledge about treatment will keep increasing for the foreseeable future. So trying to get people to not get sick now but later - if at all - has that as an additional benefit. Well, a policy that relies on getting "herd immunity" when it is not known that this can be achieved at all is IMHO - let's say - ill advised. But that's just my opinion. (*) If you want to go into a shop or public transportation in Germany you now have to wear something that covers your nose and mouth. Most people use a simple "self made" (I got mine from a local tailor shop) masks. (**) Yes, I expect that will get / has been changed by the forum filters. [End personal rant]

Which strategies to use when depends a lot on your play style! If you don't screw up too badly (and need to sell of your science to finance the next mission) then they don't make or brake a game. So if you feel that they might make the game a bit less grindy for you, then go ahead! Rep isn't completely useless: if you don't have enough of it, then you won't get three-star contracts. But once you have enough to get some three-star contracts offered, then getting more doesn't do anything in the game. So quite early in the game I tend to use the strategy that converts incoming reputation to funds. But in the late game when I have everything upgraded and unlocked the whole tech-tree then I use the strategies that convert incoming science and funds to reputation. (Mostly just for excrementss and giggles. It just doesn't make a real difference, late game career is essentially sandbox with contracts.)

Clamp-O-Tron Sr. Not Working
AHHans replied to NewsDude's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
A general tip when asking for help: don't crop the screenshots! In the GUI elements that often get cropped away there is a lot of information that gets cut away, some of which might be useful. [End of rant] Well, the one thing that I can tell you is that you didn't make the mistake of mounting one of the seniors the wrong way around. But to tell you more it would be really useful to see the navball during your docking attempt, preferably from both vessels - i.e. two screenshots, one from each vessel. -
Need help on Ideas to build a Tug
AHHans replied to jbdenney's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Probably. But I don't know exactly what, it might be this (quoted from the Flying Rock Challenge): Some more general tips: One thing you did right: never use the Convert-O-Tron 125 unless you know what you are doing. That thing wastes 90% of the ore you feed into it. You don't usually need two Convert-O-Tron 250s on spaceships. If one doesn't cut it, then the other one is unlikely to help you more than the increased dry mass costs you. When moving asteroids you don't have unlimited dV (as you found out). The easiest way to get one into orbit of Kerbin is to grab one that enters Kerbin's SOI anyhow, so that you "only" need to slow it down into an orbit, instead of moving it around to get into Kerbin's SOI in the first place. -
That's because the KSP-internal markers are below the ground. If you look at them from the side they seem to be at another position on the actual ground than the position directly above them. But when you look from high(er) up, then you are looking more or less straight down and the markers appear where they should be.

The "Conic Patch Draw Mode" determines how the conic patches that are not around the CB you are currently focused on are drawn. There is a pretty good explanation here: Different Conic drawing modes As you can see that post is a bit old, but the modes are still in the same order: Local to Body = 0, Local at SOI Entry = 1, Local at SOI Exit = 2, Relative = 3, Dynamic = 4 And the new default is mode 3 aka Relative.
-
Thanks, I didn't know that. That also explains why the marker is moving around so much when you are on the surface. About the OP: the RoveMates work well when used from a satellite. They have only a tiny view cone, but when you are far enough away from the planet/moon you still have a good fraction (or even all of it) in your field of view. Then you can drop a waypoint marker on it from KerbNet and use that to navigate a lander / rover / whatever there. It is usually good enough spot to the anomaly visually from "the air".

Considering that the other three astronauts have "Jeb", "Val", and "Bill" written on their suits, I'd wager a guess that Bob needs glasses now. Any guesses if we get any new parts for this update? I mean we already have the Vulcain 1 (aka Mainsail) and SRBs. And the Terrier (or if you want it bigger the Wolfhound) would make a decent Aestus look-alike.

Easy to test. So, yes. And btw. a cubic octagonal strut counts as a parent part (even tough it is "physicsless"). That gives you some control when you need the ejection force to be in a certain direction.
