  1. nOOO 96 (-) NEGATIVES, BAND TOGETHER. THIS IS OUR FINAL STAND
  2. Error 00042 - Error failed to load. Error 1225 - Error is on Christmas break. Error rescheduled for the 26th. Continue with your day and hope nothing major broke.
  3. A shower thought I had an hour ago: "It's midnight, on Christmas Eve night. What am i doing with my life, so that I'm awake this late? Or rather, this early for Christmas morning?" I'm pulling an all nighter. (Story: I slept about 1.5 hours earlier in the night, and couldn't fall asleep.)
  4. These spacecraft you're launching are insanely humongous. I commend you, @pmborg , for doing what I probably will never have the patience or willpower to do.
  5. You make it sound so easy. For me, I'd probably have to quicksave and quickload about a hundred times before a reasonable intercept. Oh, jeez, I can't imagine what it's going to be like if I ever plot an interplanetary Caveman mission. I rely too heavily on patched conics and maneuver nodes. (Also, odd how there's another sleepless person who's awake on Christmas Eve night. The reason I'm awake is I made the mistake of attempting to jump my sleep schedule from 1 AM sleep time to 7 PM sleep time, in one night... I got 1.5 hours of sleep before I woke up again. Why are you awake this late?)
  6. Thanks! ...Tylo? Or even Laythe? Haha, maybe I should just try one of the easier things like "hitting the launch button and then saying 'I did something productive!'". In all seriousness, how did you do these things without patched conics? How did you get the SOI changes on point?
  7. KSP2 doesn't need RSS. Mods can handle that. Due to supposed performance increases and moddability increases, this should be super easy to mod into KSP2 in comparison to how RSS modding was for KSP1. Just think: not very many people are going to want RSS as just some switch to flip. They probably think they want it, especially people who've never tried RSS or even KSP (those people will immediately regret their decision of drastially increasing difficulty, boring tasks, and timewarping), and then say "StarTheory, why did you think it was a good idea to add this stupid switch!?" And then StarTheory will have worked so hard, likely for an extra month, for so little gain. In this scenario (which, in my mind, is a lot more likely than any other scenario), nobody wins, except for maybe the people who truly like Realism Overhaul. The people who thought RSS was a good idea get bamboozled and never flip the switch or use the DLC again, StarTheory gets yelled at, and the players who weren't involved get one month of KSP2 postponing and therefore less KSP2 time in their lifetime. And with the KSP2 performance and moddability upgrades, the only thing stopping true realism going onto KSP2 is our laziness to get onto the forums, click a GitHub link, and hit "install" on GitHub. It'd be a lot easier than spending 15 dollars on a DLC, and a lot easier for StarTheory in comparison to a month of extra work, only to be yelled at for postponing the game for a switch not very many people actually like. I'm pretty sure my stance on this is clear: whatever StarTheory adds, it shouldn't be an RSS option, for their sake and for our sake.
  8. This sounded amazing! If only I was available at the time to help. I joined after this finished. I hoped it was as entertaining for you guys to proceed with as it was for me to observe. This sounded like quite the challenge. Great job!
  9. KSP Christmas Tree Challenge Goal Land a Christmas tree on any of the KSP bodies (Kerbin, Jool and the Sun not included). It's that simple. Rules 1: No hyperedit, cheat menu, warp mods, vesselmover, or any cheaty mods. 2: You can use parts mods, but don't use anything too OP (like some endgame Interstellar Extended engines). 3: Please have something on your tree like lights or ornaments to make it look better. 4: Your tree can be fold-up, multi-launch, modular, or any other method of making it easier to launch, but please, please don't just send up a ton of modular tree pieces and stack it until the physics limit won't let you anymore. 5: If you're gonna hit it out of the ballpark, don't do it via exploitations of scoring equations. 6: Only one tree per entry. If you want to make more, sure, go ahead, but they will be individually scored and ranked. 7: Because I posted this a little bit later than I thought, I'm going to ignore the rule I originally was going to add that stated "Enter by Christmas". Instead, enter whenever you like. 8: Image or video proof recommended, but not strictly required. Scoring Because a lot of people are going to win this, I'm making a score system for it. Below is the score system: ((Tree Height)+(Tree Width))x(Planet Multiplier) If you land near an anomaly, you can multiply your score by 2. Below, in the spoiler, is a list of planet multipliers: So, you add your tree width and tree height in meters together, and then multiply it by whatever body's planet multiplier you landed on. That easy. Leaderboards There will be the top 5 scorers below: 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: And the rest in this spoiler:
  10. My worst failure was probably Minbase, a Career Minmus surface base with Breaking Ground robotics-powered docking ports and lander legs. it was my first Career surface base. Ever. So many things went wrong here. Below is the long-ish story, spoiler-ed so nobody yells at me to use a spoiler. And then there was Minbase 2. My first career orbital station not around Kerbin. Also no bueno. Yet again, spoiler contains story. Moral of this story: don't use Breaking Ground robotics landing legs unless absolutely necessary, and remember to use logic to determine what to get antennas on and the RCS thruster placement before you send something to rendezvous. (A close second was a huge asparagus-staged nuclear engine (yes, asparagus-staged nukes work amazing, you should try it) Jool mission I set up in Sandbox, except the patched conics messed up and didn't tell me I was on a collision course with Laythe while I was waiting for a good encounter to it. It didn't even tell me I was going to reach its SOI (it said I'd do that next orbit, and barely skim it at that).)
  11. This better not die. Not yet! It's too amazing to die! So I'll bump this up to front page (if it isn't already, I found this by clicking your signature). @Ultimate Steve , good luck with finishing the story-- there are so many ways I can see happening! (And also, just so you know, the more recent chapters have been h u g e. They don't have to be as big, if it's easier to split them up.)
  12. 67 (-) Current tactic: liking the posts of some of the people who recently added a negative post here so they'll be notified, visit here, make it go lower.
  13. I know enough to determine that. But it's magic because it does something I'm pretty sure I couldn't do with my Pi's breadboard.
  14. I'm game with this! Once the rules and modlist are set, I'll set up my GameData and wait for the original post. Then I'll probably go second or third (but since I have no idea how this should start, I'll leave first save to one of you). Another note: @greenTurtle1134 , does your PFP have a part of an xkcd comic on it?
  15. Yesterday, I assembled a synced-to-music Christmas lights show (not as big as you'd think, just with my tree and some lamps) with my Raspberry Pi and a questionably legal/safe electric setup that's likely to start a fire in the near future. I used a Pi application called LightShowPi, and assembled a box of 8 outlets connected to a magic electrical thing conntected to my Pi. My Pi, the DIY box of outlets, and the magical electric thingy (called a relay) are all connected to a wall. I wish I never, ever have to do more electrician work. LightShowPi comes with its own magical music-to-flashes music syncer, which is questionably functional, but it's the best I could do without making actual synced programs myself (which I'm not the best at). I don't have enough Christmas lights on my tree to get enough flashes, so I've been substituting with nightlights and lamps. However, just a few hours ago, I got some more lights, so we'll see how that goes. I'm really proud of it!
  16. Show off your profile picture here! I made this since I have no idea where to show off my current one. Talk about where you got it or how you made it, and what it depicts. Mine is a white rocket on a green background, using a light grayscale and green color palette. it's a very unrealistic and cartoonish rocket, but hey, it was designed for all parts of the community to understand. I made it myself with GIMP. I don't like how the shape of the rocket is, but I really like how I did the exhaust plume.
  17. This is the one and only song (Outro by M83) I practically refuse to put in my playlist. It's amazing, and emotional, and I need it for when I need to make something powerful and emotional. It's the exact kind of thing that if I use too often, it'll lose its awesomeness and become just some song I play on my playlist. And even if that weren't a problem, I don't want to be extremely overly emotional every few hours while playing KSP. My current playlist (which is just my Everything Playlist, since I use it for everything), contains some cool music from this old video game I played in my early childhood, music from various Broadway Musicals (only the good songs from the good musicals), various 60s, 70s and 80s rock, Christmas Music (only the REALLY GOOD stuff), nostalgia songs that played on the radio or appeared on TV during my childhood, and other such things. I don't have a solely KSP playlist, though. I'll have to whip something up soon.
  18. 66 (-) Negatives seem to be losing, so I'll help them out and join them
  19. Servos have always been a little buggy. Mess around with them long enough and they might fix themselves. Another thing that works for me if undoing mirroring and symmetry, then reattaching them individually.
  20. What I normally do is pack in tons of SRBs, launch up to roughly 120km, and circularize with maneuverable engines. Inefficient as heck, and hard to use with rendezvous, but it works. To do this, the first stage has to be a ton of SRBs that have fins and maybe some ASAS units. The next stage is ideally either the Skipper, or the Poodle. As for launching heavy things like stations, just build your launcher with bigger stages and more boosters. If you hate SRBs, try asparagus staging. As for lining up launches for rendezvous... I can't do that, I'm just not good enough for that. As for rendezvous itself, that's an entirely different question from launching.
  21. I cannot wait for everything KSP2 has to offer! My specific wishes and hopes are as follows: Mainly, what I'm hoping for is a unique and powerful base creation interface, because the thing I'm most excited for in KSP2 is gathering resources and using them to build rockets in many locations. Supposedly, it's also likely to have insanely increased performance and speed, not to mention graphics. I really hope this is true, because if it isn't, I'm probably going to be tearing my hair out at the framerate drops when near a large base. Another thing I'm really excited for is parts painting, a thing I haven't tested out in KSP mods just yet. I could design my rockets to be any color I need, so they resemble real life rockets, or I could have them be a specific pattern or color to fit their mission flag. One other thing that hasn't been mentioned or hinted at which I hope will exist is most definitely setting reminders whenever you _____. This blank could be "launch a craft", "finish building a rocket", or "begin landing". You could set reminders like "enable SAS before launching", "don't forget solar panels or ladders", or "unfold the landing legs and activate the landing stage". Oh, yeah, one last thing: They mentioned increased moddability, so I want Kopernicus, but built in, so planet modding isn't constrained to whatever version Kopernicus is for. Ergo, I can make planets in current versions, even directly after a version change. Dangit, this post has gotten me so excited for KSP2, I have to convince myself again it doesn't exist yet.
  22. I designed one of those fold-up basketball hoop designs you find on the ceilings of basketball stadiums (with Breaking Ground), as a request from a friend. Still a work in progress, but a kerbal can fall down the hoop when it's deployed. I also attempted to design a Laythe lander for a future Jool 5 mission. It really likes to explode on a mountain, and tip over in the water. I eventually left the idea for future me to deal with.
  23. I let kOS do my landings. Especially with low fuel margins. I ignore Dres, even though it needs to be remembered. Except the one save where all I did was do Dres missions. I once built a flyswatter. It hit kerbals flying with EVA chutes. I often forget to turn off infinite fuel after a TWR test. I only notice this when I realize my SRB is getting more air than normal.
  24. This seems fair, as the system the forum uses currently seems to work well enough to the point of zero spammers or less appropriate users. Thank you! I'm most excited to try out the challenges and post mission reports, and I've already scouted out where those are. I'm planning on staying as long as possible. Thank you for the warm welcome to the community!
  25. I'm LittleBitMore, a teen kerbonaut who can't figure out how to change his profile picture. I'm pretty good at KSP, as far as I can tell (but, of course, I'm no Scott Manley), but I'm pretty new to the forums. I have no idea how any of this works. I've read the community guidelines, and gotten a general layout of the forums a little bit before I made an account. I'm not in any online communities, so I have no idea what to expect here, but I'm hoping to make some friends here and talk about successful missions. In the future, I hope to make good contributions to this forum and also to learn how to make a profile picture.
