The James Webb Space Telescope and stuff
Lewie replied to Streetwind's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yessire, it really is! I still can’t bring myself to believe that Webb is ACTUALLY in that fairing, ACTUALLY about to launch…this thing has been in development longer the I’ve been alive, ain’t that something?- 869 replies

Happy to see the robotic drift bug finally squashed...you all are the best!!

The experience is the journey, not the destination! I’ve always liked to follow a more realistic approach to exploring celestial bodies…usually will send a fly-by probe, then an orbiter, an unmanned lander, maybe a sample return mission, then crewed missions before building a base+orbiting station. Really, after you get to an celestial body your options are: 1. Send rover 2. fly a plane if possible 3. build a surface base 4. Grab some nifty screenshots

Oo neat it’s open click!

Hot dog, that is looking good! Great work as usual, thanks for yet another insightful technical diary!!

Here I am! I find this very enjoyable, the dancing Bezos cyborg really is the icing on the cake (Green day, Blink 182, Fall out Boy and My Chemical Romance {and many, many not named} is my kind of Jam) I’m very happy that Spacex can finally resume work on LSS, these delays got way out if hand and is it just me, or did the last 7 months fly by??

Nah, I'm sure his PR team had to hold him down Bezos....ANGRY!!! Bezos...SUEEEEEEE!!!! No Jeff! Get back here!!

Done! Screenshots to come soon (tm)

After grinding out the tech tree, I've kicked back and been developing a Virgin Galactic Inspired tourist plane named APR Starlight-Ascension (the carrier is the SPR Flame Bat) I am going to build a better carrier plane, it tops out at 300 m/s at 8,000 meters with the space plane. I don't care for how it 'sits' on top of Starlight, so I'm going to add two Mk2 fuselages on the wings, slap more engines on that+bigger wings. Starlight does have two junos, but the thrust is so measly to the point that it is only capable of a powered glide. so, I need to add more junos, extend the carrier and unlock the external command seat. I designed the plane to be inherently stable, so it's really just 'fire and forget'. I want to be able to have some kerbals in the back and float 'em around in micro-gravity.

Why are rocket engines so complex?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the success of the aerospace business.... But BO doesn't really have anything to support
