At the very bottom of the log file is the output for the stack trace, and at the bottom of that is a location for the crash file. Please check that and upload that as well. Historical Space Race Challenge
Scarecrow71 replied to Scarecrow71's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
And I finally, for the first time ever, dropped something on Eve's surface. This was the hardest thing I've ever done in KSP. Ever. I did a quick-save once I achieved Eve orbit, and I must have tried every known strategy for getting to the surface known to Kerbals. Direct descent, multiple aero-braking passes, using fuel, not using fuel, using the engine as a heat shield, decoupling the engine early...everything. In the end, it simply ended up being sheer dumb luck that got me through. And those heat shields I encased the probe in? Yeah, they were nearly useless. On 99% of the descents they exploded in the atmosphere leaving the probe all innocent and exposed. Which then caused it to explode. To be honest, I wish I would have taken video of this so I could watch it and remember how I did this so I can do it again at some point. -
And my first-ever landing on Eve's surface. Venera III And that completes Venera III.

FrI'm the Wikipedia entry on Discoverer 1: I'm going to hold you to D1 unless you can show me where you saw it didn't achieve orbit? -
One of the reasons I got upset with Watch_Dogs was that Ubisoft added things into the game that could only be done online. You had to purchase an Xbox Live account and play online in order to accomplish certain things, and if you didn't, you couldn't get certain rewards or that elusive 100% completion rating. My first fear would be that the use of this in KSP2 would be for the devs to force people to pay for extras in order to get the best play. I'm not talking about DLC, but rather core functionality. The second thing here has already been mentioned by others, and that is the potential for abuse and scams related to it. "Your account has been suspended due to malicious activity; click here to validate your crypto account to continue playing." No thank you. Like @K^2, I would instantly pass if this was part of the game. This raises a question for me. Will the game only be available on Steam? Or will we be able to purchase through Intercepts site?

Add more boosters.

Wrong. Now it will be @Akagi, who still needs to start working on the historical space race.

Nothing wished, nothing granted. I wish people would post wishes when they grant one. Sigh. -

Historical Space Race Challenge
Scarecrow71 replied to Scarecrow71's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
You will notice that a lot of these firsts were launched well before the first actually happened. Voyager II is a great example having been launched in 1977, years before it did either fly-by. There are going to be plenty of discrepancies in the flights; my focus is simply on playing through the space race. Remember that not every challenge is for every player. -

Just one mission today. -
I'll state once again that I have no idea how the early space pioneers did things without the benefit of super-computers. Gemini VI-A/Gemini VII And this completes Gemini VI-A/Gemini VII.

The KSP Caveman Challenge 1.11.x - 1.12.x
Scarecrow71 replied to JAFO's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
What is really interesting is that, if you go back and look at the history of the challenge, MechJeb was actually ALLOWED at one point. So at one point, not only were mods not disallowed, but the biggest one of them all (ok, so KER might be #1, let's not split hairs on that) was allowed to be used in a challege where technology was against the rules. By disallowing MechJeb, it was implied that you shouldn't be using it to test things out in another game and then using those results in your career save for this challenge. But that then presents the problem of things you would know anyway and apply them to the challenge. Like, you already know how to fly a rocket, and you know what happens when you do x, or y, or 123, right? So the question becomes "How is testing any different than gaining knowledge in another game and applying it here". -
The KSP Caveman Challenge 1.11.x - 1.12.x

I think the big thing here, especially with the NCD version of this challenge, is funds in the early game. On NCD, you have to take contracts well before you get to completing them just to get enough funds to do the first few basic science farming runs and launches. Using a simulator or reloads or other games to test designs is a massive advantage in that you aren't wasting funds that you so desperately need for the challenge. In this case, it isn't simply about testing if the lander works or if the trajectory is correct, but rather "How can I maximize the craft and still have funds left over". That is certainly not in the spirit of the challenge. -

Granted. You simply need to plant, cultivate, harvest, roast, and grind the beans first. I wish I was asleep. -
