The radiator driller. Who hired the radiator driller? -
I'm a bit late here. Why didn't you invite me, @Nazalassa?

Mods Not working
Scarecrow71 replied to lux7328's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Install CKAN in the same location that you have KSP installed. You should see a folder for CKAN, as well as the CKAN executable file, inside your KSP folder. Then launch CKAN from that executable, and you should be good to go. -

I would suggest installing all mods through CKAN. -

Make a wish... and have it horribly corrupted!
Scarecrow71 replied to vexx32's topic in Forum Games!
Granted. Every time you navigate to YouTube, all you see are SCP videos. You cannot watch anything but SCP videos on YouTube. What's worse is that you are now contractually obligated to have YouTube TV, which is again infested with SCP videos. That's all you get, for the rest of your life. I wish I would have been the founder of YouTube. -

Granted. We are all repulsed by you. I wish to be one of the no-named pilots flying an X-Wing and getting blown up in the battle over the original Death Star. -
KSP2 EA: Physics simulation quality tests
Scarecrow71 replied to Vl3d's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I'd just like flags to get planted with correct orientation instead of having the graphics appear backwards. Ladders shouldn't go into the ground upon deployment. They should stop at the ground, regardless of remaining length to deploy. And they should either break due to applied force when this happens OR malfunction and reverse themselves like a garage door.- 57 replies

Granted. Knowing, however, doesn't allow you to do anything with said knowledge. I wish my cat wouldn't puke when I'm trying to eat lunch. -
Interception! I've grabbed the invisible flag and run into the goal zone! My score increases by Z9, and it is kick off time! Remember, you have to wear boxing gloves when trying to field the kick off!

Best way to get from Minmus back to the Mun??
Scarecrow71 replied to MadJock's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
For starters, the best way to even get from Minmus to Mun would be at AN or DN due to the inclined planar orbit Minmus is on. Or, at least, that should - SHOULD - save on the amount of dV needed for the trip. With that said, gravity assist around Kerbin might be your best bet. As far as calculators for the transfer, I'd highly suggest using MechJeb. It should be able to plot the transfer with relative ease. -
New Rule: @AlamoVampire must make his way to 32nd base and stay there until the 15 yard marker moos.

ShadowZone - What Kerbal Space Program 2 HAS TO Avoid
Scarecrow71 replied to TROPtastic's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
So, I went into KSP this morning to get screen shots and show you exactly what I was talking about. I have two installs of KSP on my machine - 1.12.5, and 1.8.3. And for the life of me, everything I tried in 1.12.5 didn't have this issue. dV calculations stayed where they were for the stage they were in, so nothing I did to other stages below a stage mattered. Which means that this is a non-issue (whether it happens in 1.8.3 doesn't matter any longer as, if it was an issue, it was corrected). It's also entirely possible that I'm old and blind and saw something that didn't exist. What I'm really trying to say here is... -
So you'd rather they give you what you want instead of fixing what is wrong? That is pretty selfish. Needing resources to get to 1.0 isn't a tired excuse; it's the truth. I'd rather they work on core elements of the game as opposed to working on enhancements that the vast majority won't use. As has been stated already, there are a host of alternatives to use.

Save the kerbal AND their vessal.

This thread begs the question: can you send an engineer up to add engines and fuel and chutes to one of these vessels so it can come down on its own? -

Granted. It is pasted into the white background of one of the posts in this forum. Happy hunting. I wish the mods for KSP2 would be released before early access. -
I would be surprised if there weren't multiple dedicated Discord servers for voice chat specifically for KSP2. But nobody is being forced to install that or anything else for voice chat during game play. You are free to use whatever system you wish. Let us also not forget that integrating voice chat in the game takes Dev resources that could be put to better use elsewhere. Like getting the game to 1.0.

ShadowZone - What Kerbal Space Program 2 HAS TO Avoid
Scarecrow71 replied to TROPtastic's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I don't think you understand what I'm talking about. In KSP, dV gets updated every time you change the craft, whether or not the change impacts a given stage. If I have an engine in stage 1 that has 400 dV, but then add a part to stage 6 - which will be long gone at that point - why does dV in stage 1 get recalculated as if thus change impacts stage 1? -
ShadowZone - What Kerbal Space Program 2 HAS TO Avoid
Scarecrow71 replied to TROPtastic's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Agreed. I personally could use multiple lessons on optimization. But do I go looking for them? No, because I'd rather put a continent in orbit and play as opposed to spending a decade optimizing a ship. What I'd like is a dV calculator that tells me what the dV is of a particular section without it recalculating when I put stuff below it. For example, if my lander has 400dv on it and then I put a decoupled on the bottom of it, don't recalculate the dV. That decoupler isn't going to be there in flight when the lander detaches. -
One thing that I don't see mentioned often enough is to make sure you don't have a billion pieces of space junk sitting in orbit. Although KSP does have a limit on the number of parts that you can have floating around, and it will invariably clean these up from time to time, it can't hurt to go into the tracking station and terminate anything you don't really need flying around out there. May not save a whole lot of RAM, but again, it can't hurt.

The most frightening thing any GM can tell a group of players is that they hear an audible click.
