  1. So if you want to use exhaust velocity in your equation, you use the natural log, but to use specific impulse you use log base 10?
  2. Isaac Newton for sure. He completely changed the way we view the world, and in effect changed the world forever.
  3. How would we reach these other solar systems? If the other stars are moving also, that would make launching to them a nightmare.
  4. The one labelled as Africa is the only similarity I see.
  5. If I\'m not doing rendezvous, I just eyeball it. If it looks like a circle from above, it\'s probably close enough.
  6. Yeah some better looking scenery would be nice. However, I wouldn\'t be able to experience it until they were at a point where they could optimize the game. My computer has a tough time running the game as is.
  7. My first rocket was too wide, broke a chunk off on the tower, and the rest went spiraling into the ground.
  8. If you use both jets and rockets, fly at around 30 above the horizon. When you are at around 14km, kick on the rockets and pitch up to 45 degrees. Shut off the jets at 20km. I would recommend using fuel lines to connect the fuel for the jets to the fuel for the rockets to get everything out of your spaceplane. Don\'t stop burning until you apoapsis is above 70km. Then wait until you are at the apoapsis and burn prograde until you are circular.
  9. If you want to catch the debris and deorbit it, then you will have to rendezvous with it everytime. I would recommend using Kosmo-Not\'s rendezvous table to catch up with it, then just practice until you can touch it. I usually use a basket to catch the pieces, then slowly turn them and deorbit them.
  10. A blue star would look better anyways
  11. Are you also a scientist? Explaining a process that he doesn\'t know about doesn\'t make you more intelligent.
  12. I heard recently the Voyager 1 will soon reach the edge of the solar system. It took over 30 years. In my eyes, that shows that one solar system is large enough for KSP. If the team focuses on this one system, everything can be hand polished and put in properly. There can be multiple asteroid belts, a big Oort cloud way out at the edge, comets that have rediculous orbits, and as many planets/dwarf planets as you can find orbits for.
  13. How do you find the exhaust velocity or specific impulse for the engines? Is it given somewhere?
  14. I love how Minmus looks just like a star from a low orbit, and slowly becomes a big object on the screen.
  15. Your lander looks fine to me. Just put a lot of legs on it in case some break off. And try to land at around .5 m/s.
  16. The Mun for sure because it was the first place I set my sites on going. It will always hold a special place in my eyes.
  17. Of course you don\'t need the tables, they just help accomplish it in a very simple way that is also quick. And after trying a rendezvous with mechjeb, my advice would be to use the tgt + command, and use RCS to steer until you are close. Then turn off tgt + and make the relative velocity 0.
  18. I was just searching youtube one day, and came across Trydyingtolive\'s Mun mission tutorial. I bought it that same day.
  19. That was my problem. After taking a no-HUD screenshot it wouldn\'t come back.
  20. How do you re-enable the HUD after it goes away?
  21. From that picture, I can say you will need to be a lot closer before using the rendezvous features. You need to be within 1-2km before trying to kill relative velocity. Use Kosmo-Not\'s table to get that close, then use the mechjeb features to finish the job.
  22. I think that it was actually a Moon around a gas giant that the aliens were on in Avatar. That would be really awesome.
  23. Well the only way to improve the initial orbit you get is to practice a bit and try to keep flying at 90 degrees. Once in orbit, plane changes are pretty confusing. To change your plane, burn somewhere out of the line that prograde and retrograde make around the circle. If you go at 90 degrees, you will notice that the plane moves up or down in from of you. So just wait until the time is right, and burn away. Then you\'ll probably have to fix your orbit.
