I apologize for my silence, it was a busy week, and after reading what you have Lisias wrote, I agree. I cannot let this discussion die as there might be something to come of it. As for a business model, as you've said, it could be a non-profit, and in the beginning it probably will be, running off of donations from the KSP community. We could do a partially open play testing sending copies to trusted people and youtubers that could document development and give feedback. Once the game is at KSP-1 feature level or slightly below, we can monetize it by selling it on the steam under a indie studio and/or create a website and sell it there, although a website would necessitate paying for a web server. Its an INCREDIBLY oversimplified outline and the transition from non-profit to profit would be quite complicated but every complex thing starts out as a simple one. I think if more people see this, and a few others put their ideas in or even join in on helping, something could truly come from this.

From what I hear the game engine that KSP uses is inherently flawed, It would certainty be easier to start from that and iron out issues but it would leave certain features unavailable still do too game engine related constraints. If it were possible to use a different game engine that was less buggy it would be optimal yet, then there would probably be issues with getting ksp-alike physics to work in the engine. Because of physiscs issues we probably will have to use the same engine as KSP-1, except with fixing the bugs that we know about with foresight now, and modifying it to be more stable, and hopefully use less ram. Overall what you said is a good idea, if this ever came to fruition, it would be a good idea to "streamline" the old game engine, and make it more efficient, use less ram, utilize more gpu power that ksp-1 leaves on the table, and other small and large issues. I hope that we could get rid of the bendy rocket issues for good if we started far back enough. When it comes to funding, that's thinking a little bit ahead, all is still conceptual and not yet in motion. There is as much time as we need before a Business Model becomes a primary concern. EDIT: You should inform a few others about this idea, get more peoples ideas and suggestions on the game or how to create the game.

That's a good idea, I was thinking, if we were to get past the point of getting a working game engine, that the game would be developed more similarly to KSP-1 from the start. Starting with a mostly barebones game and working our way up and taking community suggestions too. It would be better to have an open development like KSP-1 mostly had rather than shaky deadlines, unmet promises, and broken early accesses like that of KSP-2. For the business model side of things, it would probably start off by being crowd funded, from there, something else must be figured out. Perhaps it will rely on crowd funding until the game is feature complete enough to consider putting a price tag on it.

This is a radical idea, and one that would take an insane amount of time and work, one I am not capable of, but some others may be. It could not be too similar due to copyright issues, TakeTwo owns the IP for KSP, but it could be as similar as we are legally allowed to make it. After all you cant copyright the idea of a green gas giant or a purple Venus. What I am suggesting is that some hard working people could get together to make a game that would resemble what KSP 2 could've been, along with features that even KSP 2 wouldn't of had. If this game were to be made it should be made for easy mod compatibility, one of the things that made KSP so popular and last so long. I was thinking this hypothetical game could have a "Vulcan-like" planet, similar to the theorized planet closer to the sun than Mercury, but that was proved to not exist. And maybe it could have a Saturn analog too, and our version of Jool having 4 major moons like Jupiter rather than just 3, you can have a Europa like world and Laythe. Perhaps far more veritable difficulty settings enabling far for built in features while allowing people to still choose a more Stock KSP like experience. I have been thinking of this idea for a month or two now, and I there are too many things I've thought up to include in this one post. I want to hear the people's thoughts on such an idea, and perhaps suggestions.

Well, hello. Its been quite the moment since my last posting due to my computer being struck with a virus but it has been neutralized. I have been working my mods as of recent and have some big plans for the mod. Good news and possibly bad news depending on the way you look at it, good news, I will be making Epsilon Eridani, Alpha Centarui, and Red Skies for ksp1. Slightly bad news, the rest of SJ's (Stellar Journeys is a name candidate) development will be moved to KSP2 as the current KSP1 modding community is winding down and it wont be worth it to spend so much time developing a mod for a community that is slowly winding down. Course the previously mentioned systems will also be ported but also with many more systems along with my 3 side mods of, The Worlds of The Cluster, Kerbol Revamped (may change name), and The Klasia Nebula. So uhhhhh I gotta go cya bye.

UPDATE: Don't worry, I'm not dead nor have I forgotten about this mod. Unfortunately I am still using the old pc so I cant delve into development yet. BUT, the holidays are indeed coming up and that may allow me to get a new pc, who knows? If not I will be back to the grind. VERY LARGE INCONVENIENCE, I am moving from Sweden to America, meaning that I will have to get a new job, settle in to a home, and figure school and everything out, luckily I already know English very well. On a side note my uncles side of the family and a lot of others migrated to America in 1923, only took us nearly 100 years to follow lol. Cheers! And see all you in 2023 I suppose.

EDIT: Solved, it was Benjee10_Orion and BDB conflicting, idk how to make them work together but meh. Well, I have a bug with B9, god help me. I am so beyond insane from ksp error after error with mods that worked beyond perfectly before, so I don't even wanna explain, but I can tell you it isn't Tantares recolor, already tried that. Oh yeah, here's the log too.

Slight problem, it doesn't work with BDB to my understanding. Removing Intercolor fixed the B9 error but I wonder if there is a way to make them work with each other... Image for reference: -

Hmm that does seem like a good idea! I could add da description to all of them to show what they are cause a blank gray texture won’t show much, this does seem like something I would do Huh, seems like a name that could be used. It’s fine about the PC I am saving up to fort a new one as my current replacement is my old computer and it’s an HP office computer so it’s a tad slow but I will manage

I do indeed like those names! I thing Far Out would be a great name for it. I think the abbreviation would just be FO, its just easier to say FO then FOAKA. Also, I do plan on doing TrES-2b and HD 80606. am excited to see what this turns into!

BIG ANNOUNCMENT: Hey, if your wondering what happened to Red Skies, I had gotten the majority of stuff done but then my house was broken into and my pc stolen, although I did have a very old copy on a USB drive. Even if my pc had not been stolen I had slowed down on development due to losing interest but more importantly, I was having a very annoying issues with sunflare were it was visible from Kerbin and LARGER than Kerbol, after research I figured out brightness curves and sunflare curves and all that but the new config only gave me Kopernicus error messages and it wouldn't load. I tried getting help but the fixes provided by my peers didn't work. What I'm trying to say is that Red Skies is being delayed, ik I sound like a triple A game company right now but I realized that this might be a tad hard for a first mod. The bright side: Well, I know the first bit was bad news for some people but I do have future plans for a mod similar to Galaxies unbound in the future which WILL INCLUDE the system of red skies as Kohmunn - 17 A along with B. I have lots planned for the future involving this mod. So... what's the name? Welllll, I dont know yet, I am fully open for suggestions in the comments. What can we expect for the NEAR future?: Big things, I plan on making a mod revamping the Jool system and then making a FULL system revamp at 2.7x size kind of like JSNQ but well, different so not really like JSNQ. Seems a lot easier to revamp a system then make a brand new one. When can expect the Jool revamp mod? Well, probably about a month or 2 as im trying to make it high quality so it will take a moment. I will soon post a timeline for what you can expect for the future!

I am currently experiencing a bug with Scatterer were the ground and the KSC DISSAPEARS Oh and also, it is in flight too. I have tried so many things to NO AVAIL, I have made 3 new installs, have tried to reinstall scatterer COUNTLESS times, have made sure to be using DX11, changing game versions, spending an hour sifting through my log only to find "Eve shaderloader type not found" which when searched shows NOTHING, and spending hours going around the forums trying to fix this. You may be thinking, "Oh its probably a software issue my friend" BUT no less than a month ago scatterer worked perfectly fine and had good frames but just recently it [snip] itself to a horrid extreme. I have indeed had this problem in the past but that could be fixed by reinstalling scatterer or deleting the atmosphere cache folder. I have uninstalled ALL my mods and used all the "fixes" provided to me by my friends but to no avail. Please god help me my sanity is being sand blasted by this bug and scatterer has became the bane of my existence. I have 2 options, 1. accept that KSP without scatterer looks like absolute [snip] or 2. find a fix for this horrendous bug. I am running on 1.12.2 I have tried 1.12.1 and 1.11.1 AND 1.10.1 no dice

Hey, just recently figured out how to use gaseous-giganticus and and stumped on merging and stitching together the multiple outputs aka cube map. There is 6 outputs. Here is an example of just a unrefined output (there is 4 others but the post would be massive)

Thanks! it appears I underestimated the struggles of making a mod and may take a bit but the people excited for it makes me want to work more
