Allright, back to the SSTV stuff I saw this thread and thought it would be nice to try to find that SSTV signal. And I succeeded. Eight years after. I have recorded it -- but you can't really hear anything, only sporadic beep-bloops, due to the KSP music that played then.
-
I've heard a bit of bleep-boop around 25:40, but it's really faint and I had to put the sound to the maximum. Pay attention, and you'll probably hear it. Oh, and, download the recording here. Man, when I heard the bleep-blops it really frightened me. Really. (rememer: jump to 20:40. Before it's not interesting. It's all KSP music and engine burning.) aah damn keyboard

Recording check in progress... I said I just heard a faint, small BIP. Not a complete SSTV signal...Although it may have been part of it. Whoa whoa whoa that Mammoth restarting jumpscared me... Ihad to brake and invert my trajectory So I mustn't be that far away from the BIP HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON IT'S REAL KRAKEN IT'S REAL IT WAS JUST HIDDEN BY THE ****ING LOUD MUSC BUT I HEARD bird ... (sorry) wFor everyone's information: the SSTV signal at 10,000 Pm exists in KSP 1.7.3. I found it. Eight years after, I found it. I have recorded it. EDIT: No, that was just the stupid music!! (2 nov. 2022) But I can't decode it because of that ****ing loud music!! I have to re-record it, this time without the music.
-
I think I'm not going fast enough OK... No signal. Absolutely no signal. HOLD ON I JUST HEARD A BIP JUST ONE CAN THIS BE REAL?? There was the loud music, but I'm sure I heard a BIP Let me check my recordings... Downloading KSP 1.0.5...
-
Yet another pass... Note:I'm using 1.7.3 Maybe it was an April fool's joke... 8 km to go, at 30 m/s... OK, DMSP found it in 2014. So if I find anything, I'll be the third, not the second ; Holo's try was in December 2013. If I can't find it in 1.7.3, I'll try 1.0 -- and if there's nothing, then we'll have to pray for someone who still has a KSP from the first half of 2014.

Whooops overheat Mammoth burning.. Current velocity: 40 km/s Current altitude: 9,999,999,999,742,600,000 m Just passed 10,000 Pm... It didn't play. Maybe I misread it.

Man, the old graphics... Still, I prefer pre-1.18 graphics. (sorry, pre-0.18) Wow, I lost my custom shortcuts Have to put thembach (and the keyboard of the other computer, which I use to type this, is getting worse) Using a mammoth engine for speed needs, and the cheat meu to "set orbit" of course. Currently at transfer orbit

Allright it starts

Not found on KSP 1.12.3, but it's said on the wiki that the hill doesn't seem to emit any signal in KSP 1.12 -- guess the SSTVs have been removed.. I'll try with an older version. Allright, KSP 1.2.2 won't launch, trying KSP 1.73 Download: 75% Extractin data..
-
I'll stop there for today -- mabye this signal doesn't exist (sadly).
-
Sadly, doen't work Other idea.
-
Oh, you know what? I'm going to just build a ship, and then transport it there with alt-F12! Gotta restart KSP to change somethng in settings.cfg.

ALERT! Objective overshot. Re-editing persistent.sfs. ALERT! Objective overshot. Re-editing persistent.sfs. Nice! Engaging audio recoder... Done. Trying to switch to vessel. Only 212 Gm away from the Objective! Whooops, here's the "planet spaghetti" thing. (never mind.) ALERT! Objective overshot. Re-editing persistent.sfs. Veryclose to Ibjective. Now it's all fne-tining the MET. Damn this keyboard surely has some issues
-
ALERT! Objective all messed up. Re-editing persistent.sfs. ALERT! Game crash. Restarting Kerbal Space Program.

ALERT! Game crash. Restarting Kerbal Space Program... Done. persistent.sfs corrected. ALERT! Objective overshot. Re-editing persistent.sfs. ALERT! Objective overshot. Re-editing persistent.sfs. Kdenlive not recording internal audio. Temporarily uninstalling Kdenlive... Done. Installing SimpleScreenRecorder... Done. Trying internal recording.. Done. It works! Launching Kerbal Space Program.. Done. Engaging SimpleScreeenRecorder... Done. Switching to mission. "Year 20,714,104" Okaaay... Current altitude: 9,952.973739 Pm. We're getting near it! Uuuh... Something weird hppened. Wow. Allright, back to backup file. OK. Each time I time-warp, it just adds some altitude. I mean, a LOT. Currently at 181 000 000 yottameters. Back to backup!

Knowing that t = d/v we can say: t = (10 000 000 000 000 000 000 - 90 520 388 759 - 600 000 - 500 000) / 52 465.1 seconds Or, time increase equals the distance left to go over the speed. t = 190602894295000 seconds. Let's increase "UT" at line 626 of persistent.sfs by this value. Done. Now set up audio recorder... Downloading Kdenlive.. Done. Running Kdenlive

Current velocity: 53 622 m/s Current altitude: 15 518 Mm Orbital caracteristics: - SMA: Damn huge. - Eccentricity: 17.2514 - Arg PE: 119.0 - Ejection: 9.8 Eeloo orbit within 67 days No significant deceleration due to Kerbol gravity No encounters in Kerbol system All systems nominal Warping to Eeloo orbit... Done. Current altitude: 90,520,388,759 m Current velocity: 52 465.1 m/s On escape trajectory Trajectory nominal. *yawn* good night, it's midnight here Tomorrow we'll search for that SSTV signal! (remember: the SSTV signal is at (or would be at) 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 m!Whoever wants to do the math can do it.)
-
End of burn reached!
-
Last side tanks discarded! DeltaV left: 10 923 m/s Current velocity: 42812 m/s Current altitude: 14 990 Mm
-
Let's say in an hour it'll be done... Well, the burning. Because I then have to warp to 10 000 Pm, which is, hm, pretty far away. Me too I'll make all the calculations when I'll be after Eeloo orbit.
-
Right now? Still burning, current speed 40 222 m/s. Altitude above Kerbol, 14 839 Mm. I letyou do the math Still have 3990 units of Xenon to go.

Damn, Xenon is slow... Two thirds of the stage are gone. Only one third left.
-
I effectively think you are. The current stage has 554/720 of its fuel remaining. Current velocity is 34 923 m/s.
