Maybe, but where? Maybe replacing the small lakes towards the East (lower part of the image)? There's a big hill on the left next to the runways so there's no room there. There could also be some room between launchpads 2 and 3, but that area should always be empty in case of RUDs.

Congrats @Gameslinx Also I believe 2023's thread for KSP1 will most likely belongs to @blackrack for his next gen Scatterer / EVE work related to volumetric clouds and maybe weather effects. Thank you both!

No, the fact that there is no more SPH and we cannot find the Mission Control building has nothing to do with the fact that Kerbin is still empty of cities.
-
I tend to agree with you, it seems that R&D is just more spherical now. But where is Mission Control? Has it been merged into another building, like the Administration one with the helipad? Or is it on top of the VAB?
-
I've been looking over all available screenshots and I'm kind of sad that there's no new building(s) and also that there doesn't seem to be a lot of room to add any other to the KSC later. I was really hoping for a Planetarium building and a Museum / Showroom building where we can read Kerbal biographies, ship logs and also store craft returned from missions, our best craft designs or rare objects recovered from the solar system. I still hope the statue in front of the Astronaut Complex which basically replaces the Flag Pole doubles as a Fallen Heroes Memorial Plaque. I also hope there's an Observatory / Telescope Complex somewhere on a mountain on Kerbin. For images go here: Also.. where exactly is Mission Control?

As you can see in the image below, the VAB connects to both the launch pads AND to the runways. There is no Spaceplane Hangar to be seen! Also confirmed by the VAB having a craft orientation button (vertical / horizontal) and by having airplanes in the workspace. So while this is not new info, I have not seen any thread that discusses this optimization. It's useful to simplify the colonies building system also. How do you feel about it, will you miss the dedicated SPH?

The clouds look bad and need work. The clouds were looking better in some old KSC images: In my opinion the clouds could use some of the launch smoke effect (lower right): Also consider KSP1 EVE Redux clouds:

@Ghostii_Space related to the video, can you tell us what the building with the huge dome is?

Kerbal Space Program 2 Knowledge Repository
Vl3d replied to The Aziz's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
No point in deleting it. Just keep all of it. Add relevant data when it comes out and when 1.0 comes out, lock the thread. +1 for it being the basis of the new KSP 2 Wikipedia. -
Does anyone know what that building is? Is it fuel storage or a planetarium? I wouldn't expect fuel to be stored so close to administrative buildings..
-
Yes it is not a certainty, but it's a logical observation considering that we don't know what or if something is inside the container. It could be a fairing with a satellite inside, but until we know for sure, its functionally an utility weight. By the way guys there's a new video from the Beta KSC. https://www.instagram.com/stories/kerbalspacep/3009964704021982950/

What color is the nebula? Not individual stars or galaxies. The interstellar dust - what color is it?
-
What's the overall color of the skybox except for black?
-
What color is this skybox on your display?

You don't really need Kerbal Engineer Redux, MechJeb2 and Docking Port Alignment. Learn the base game features! Use CKAN to install mods. For a first play through I would recommend... Everything else can come later, after you visit all the planets and find all the anomalies... Also don't stress about making money to grind through the game. Play Career, do only the contracts you enjoy and use Alt+F12 to cheat and add small amounts of money when you need to. The science gathering / tech tree is the main progression system you should focus on. Don't rush - learn every part by heart! You will see that the best way to play is though generative complexity - meaning that you have to start small, design, prototype, experiment, unit-test, integrate-test, use iterations and reuse anything you have previously built. Learning the theory and the game takes some time, but sinking hours into building a new first stage for every probe is a costly mistake. Build and evolve rocket first stage families, do the most with what you have already designed. Send small payloads as far as you can or bigger payloads to the Mun / Minmus with the same first stage! Master the basics so you understand the physical necessities of every control element (center of weight, thrust, aero etc).

Kerbin's surface is still barren. Where are the impressively tall mountain cliffs? The highlands / mountains show signs of water erosion. Weather effects? Are the tree trunks collidable / breakable? The clouds could use some work. What's the point of the KSC inland circular water ponds? Should we build bridges? Very few new parts. I don't see anything that indicates new gameplay features. Yes, EA Phase 1 is all about validating the physics, but we still don't really know anything about the new game mechanics. Why is the skybox so green? All in all great work by the dev team! Love the textures and lighting quality, the launch pad smoke, the paint system. Slowly but surely we're getting there!

Ooh I thought of something

Derelicts and ship graveyards (ran out of fuel or crashed) are a very nice idea for multiplayer. Ship logs should be readable, as well as recoverable dead / hibernating crew. We should have a memorial building at the KSC for fallen heroes.- 9 replies

Ice Chunks Falling During Launch?
Vl3d replied to JoeSchmuckatelli's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Just a quick comment. If memory serves me right, the initial plan was to include everything you see in the cinematic trailer as a feature in the base game.. launch / ship visual effects included. The dev team was pretty straightforward about this.. we'll get everything we see in the trailer at some point. -
The rover design and cockpit look very interesting (but the windows are not transparent, prolly meaning no IVA view available for it). Love the complexity of the truss structure. And the lighting / textures quality is amazing. But I really hope they implement effects like wheel marks and dust getting kicked up.

It's functionally an utility weight for testing payload mass. I really hope it's standardized like the Utility Weight mod part.
-
I don't really understand that explosion.. was that just a fuel tank?

What will be your ideal craft or colony?
Vl3d replied to GoldForest's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Aero forces would break that in little pieces. -
Merry Christmas everyone! Grateful to be part of the community, can't wait to play KSP2 with you all!
