Bought the game - Instant Regret - i hope this is a joke
Moons replied to Moons's topic in KSP2 Discussion
Sorry but i think its important that companies also realize that this isnt okay. And yes im thinking about a refund. And i also have an interrest that this game doesnt turn into a disaster and ends a niche game genre i enjoy. The recent cuts when it comes to the publisher and developers also dont seem positive to me - i doubt that this will lead to a bigger budget for the game. Yeah i know that from the first game - i hope it stays that way. I know i saw it but im not sure if i want to mod yet since its very likely that there will be lots of smaller updates constantly breaking mods - maybe i will try it after the first patch if i still have the game. Everything maxed at 4k - Vsync disabled. The only weird thing is that Environment Prop Density and Draw distance always have 2 options marked - medium and high. I can change that but it will be at that double setting afterwards. RCS - yes i think so the weird thing is using that thing besides the NAVBall the AI was able to normally stabilize and control my rocket. But someting seems to have broken in general in that save - if i load the save i get the flight UI - my vessle is in space but im just hovering with the flight UI somwhere above the launch site seeing nothing. The save-screenshot shows the rocket in space - so i guess im just going to delete that save. (i think it didnt have a reaction wheel but not sure since i cant load the save anymore and have now deleted it since i wasnt able to load) Yeah but a bug so obvious that this shouldnt exist in the EA version. Yes i do realize that - i will get access but according to EA all i bought was the game as is - meaning if they decided to stop after Patch 1 and cancel the game i would get nothing and cant even complain about it since all i bought for 50 USD is the version i got when i bought the game. Even for the game with everything 50 USD would be a lot - i doubt they will go higher with the price. But people and me paid that price now - not in the future. And with all due respect -there will never be a time when this game will be a steal for 50 USD. 50 USD is the price of a full AAA game if they seriously will charge more at release 60 or 70 USD most people including me would probably completely ignore the game. We all saw what happened to a AAA game that thought it could just raise the price to 70USD - Forspoken - that game flopped so hard that they merged the Developer and it has already dropped below 100 players at times. Yeha i think so too - i even made a thread about it. I really hope that we will get a legacy UI or a highly moddable UI. I think this describes one of the issues nice - besides me not liking the interface the old interface actually made you look at your ship more when switching between info screens. I knew it had issues- but i didnt think the issues were that bad that even basic functionality would fail - and end in me haivng gamebreaking bugs even when i just did my first launch in space. I know this topic is a bit direct and negative - and some people seem to think it would be better for the future of this game to keep a positive image. But in my opinion i think its more important to actually not pretend things are okay - selling this game in this state - and im really sorry but i m somewhat sure that most of those bugs were known before EA release and at that moment someone should have said "no we cant release it like that" or at least "no we cant release the game in this state at this price". This honestly destroyed all trust i had in the brand as a consmer and as i stated above i think its also a bit offensive to sell a game in a state like this for 50 USD to fans. I think the publisher and the developers (but probably mostly the publisher) seriously need to do more than they are doing now to get this game back on track - and especially looking at news about cutting costs etc. Im sorry but 50 USD is beeing paid for the game as is - so the price doesnt reflect the quality and content of the game at all at this point and everything else doesnt matter since its not something the consumers have any guarantee for. And even at a cheaper price i would have expected that at least the most basic things - build rocket -> fly to orbit -> revert flights -> land etc. would function properly in 90% of cases. Everything else beyond that obviously would be different because its EA. -

After reading so much about it and watching videos i decided to buy it. Its in a way worse state than i ever imagined. I thought it may has bugs and problems but i didnt expect problems to pretty much start when doing the most basic tasks in this game. I also see no point in even reporting bugs at this point because they are so obvious that i dont think anyone can even overlook them. Im not hyped at all im just shocked that someone released the game in this state for 50 USD. Even at 30 USD this wouldnt be acceptable - you cant release a game in EA with so many gamebreaking bugs that even basic functionality isnt reached (i would at least expect to be able to launch a rocket to orbit and revert to Launch etc. without gamebreaking bugs). My first start of the game pretty much was a accumulation of gamebreaking bugs - just launching a rocket in orbit - i would understand it if it were some bugs that arent immediately apparent but this honestly is a trainwreck - this is the worst EA ive ever invested in especially for that price. To be honest i think they deserve all the negative reviews and negative press and hopefully something like this wont be done by a big publisher again - this is not okay at all.- 826 replies

Bought the game - Instant Regret - i hope this is a joke
Moons replied to Moons's topic in KSP2 Discussion
To be honest i think there should even be a buy button - this game in my opinion should be taken off of steam in this state at this price. Never in my life have i played an EA game as bad and as expensive as this. Seriously - what were they thinking when they decided to release the game in this state at this price? It was 100% certain that this would flop and get lots of negative press and reviews in this state for 50 USD. -
So after all the negative threads and reviews i still thought - hey maybe its half bad ... - and wow do i regret that Sorry i have played a lot of EA games in the past years but never in my life have i played a game at such a price that was broken to this extent - i dont understand why people dont complain way more about this - sorry but at 50 USD i would call this a joke ... Even the most basic functions are buggy - how can anyone with any respect for his fans release a product like this for 50 USD? It would have been even bad for 30 USD since it seems to be so broken ... Lets start my journey: wow another awful launcher - hopefully i can just skip that in the future ... no UI scaling - nice looks awful at 4k - way too big and i dislike the design in general But okay thats EA so i continued: performance was awful - and i actually have a rather high end PC So okay thats EA that is to be expected: Moving on - lets build a rocket and launch it - okay after huge FPS drops and graphical glitches - to be expeted in a EA - but not in a 50 USD EA i make it to space BUT Rocket in space suddenly seems to have lost any means of changing directions and stabilize - for some reason that automatic thing seems to work to some extent and can turn the rocket while i hardly can do anything Okay - lets just Revert to Launch or Vehicle Assembly - oh wait those Buttons do nothing - great Some time later i realize that even staging doesnt seem to work a lot of times so i actually have to do some staging manually with my mouse So i think - hey maybe after i crash i can revert Guess what - no i cant - its still broken both options - and yes i have them enabled in settings etc So i just build another rocket - want to test and change something directly after launch - GUESS WHAT now the launch Button stopped working ... Im really sorry but EA is no excuse for such an utterly broken Alpha - especially at 50 USD - i feel like beeing taken advantage of as a fan of the series. Most of those bugs dont seem to be isolated and should have been pretty obvious to the DEVs and Publishers - releasing this game in a state like this at 50 USD is beyond offensive to the fans of this game. Im sorry ive seen a lot of awful EA launches and absurd EA prices - but this game beats them all.

Did you cut the part where a phoenix comes out of the ashes of the derailed KSP1 train? I think i found the footage of the transformed KSP1 train:- 826 replies

I doubt that its hardware. Was your last PC up to date - windows updates, hardware drivers etc.? Or maybe really old CPU that wasnt supported perfectly?
-
Okay - so you dont caunt ads as ads neither by youtubers, nor events, nor official launch trailers - how are we supposed to argue with you? What you just posted are Ads - by every definition. If even an official trailer and a launch event for influencers to you isnt ads - then what is? Did you expect billboards on the streets and on the times square?
-
You do relaize that when i talk about the UI i talk about the general looks and style and not about little details and bugs/problems it had? If to you it seems as if i wanted to say that KSP1s UI was perfect - i never meant to say that. I dont have to have expericence in design to know if a UI is more or less ergonomic for me to use. Compressing everything in a small area isnt good design. The view is actually blocked a lot since lots of pointless things are constantly visible or way to big or have grey boxes that block additional view for no reason. I never had a problem with the SAS buttons - they were perfeclty fine - the new ones are way too big. Also those are things most people would probably control via hotkeys at some point if possible. Why should time use up so much time and why move it where you just argued is the most important space of the screen? In genearl shouldnt most of those functions be something done via hotkeys anyways? No i dont like it because having lots of information with lots of details in the same area actually leads to me taking longer to find that information. Im also pretty sure that the new Interface actually takes up more % of the screen than the old one.
-
There was lots of marketing i saw some of it but probably not a lot since i block ads. But just look at my post above - there was a lot of marketing for a game like this. Did you seriously not see all the KSP trailers, they even had a pre-launch event for influencers? It was also all over Steam. Sorry but i think you just missed most of it for whatever reason.
-
Are you serious? They had a launch trailer and made lots of videos until the EA release: https://www.youtube.com/@KerbalSpaceProgramOfficial/videos EA Launch Cinematic EA Gameplay Trailer and 2 other videos in the last 4 months - after not releasing anything for 5 months on their channel. They had a launch event with their biggest youtubers/influencers: I cant say much about other stuff since i block ads etc. but what else - from your point of view would they have to do for you to see them market a launch?
-
Yes i think so. Player retention and general reception will dicatate the financial success of the EA game and that will probably be an indicator for the publisher to look at it from an investment point of view. This was obviously also used for hype - why do you think did they make those trailers etc.? If this was only about finding bugs etc. they could have simply done public or closed beta - with either paid testers or fans that will do it for free - lots of games do that. Counterpoint: do you really think they would release a game like this with marketing in a state like this at a price like this if it was only about having players testing the game? And do you really think if your EA flops compared to other similar EAs and loses way more players than other EAs in a short ammount of time will have no effect on the future of your product and how you view it - especially the publisher who has to invest? If i remember correctly this game had a huge ammount of people that had it on their steam wishlist - even compared to other bigger titles.
-
Sorry i didnt know that he has full authority - i will now logout and come back in a year sorry to bother you.
-
No its just normal human behaviour especially when the product you bought was sold to you at the price of a full AAA title and you obviously had different expectations because of that. Objectively that launch was a disaster - the price is absurd and the state of the game doesnt reflect the price tag of 50 USD at all. So you have the authority to say what cant be discussed anymore and what is "dismissed" - good to know ... Neither is there a problem with a partial sampling since Steam is probably the biggest part of the community since steam is the biggest store - also steam obviously is a very representative sample. Just because its a reality you dont want to accept doesnt mean its not reality. Your argument also doesnt make sense in general since you can easily compare KSP EA to similar EA and you will instantly see that the player drop is way beyond the norm. Sorry but to me you are just trying to cope with this for whatever reason (sunken cost fallacy etc.) and im sure you will come up with something to tell me why this actually isnt a bad launch no matter the argument presented. So yes obviously steam is a bad metric since 90% of players are on other platforms where obviously everyone is happy and playing, players stop playing because all of them want to play a 10 year old game and its completely different from any other EA that had an old game yet has way more players in the new game in EA because of reasons. I wont take that year thing - but i will quote your post in 2 Months - if there arent huge patches and a price drop im pretty sure this game will be almost out of players.
-
"Imagine getting your jimmies rustled because someone has a different opinion regarding a game you like. smh" I dont think so this is EA - not a finished product and its not in a good state - i think its more important right now to give people the impression that lots of work is beeing done compared to watching out for quality - thats something that should have been done before releasing this EA version ... Looking at the player numbers - do you seriously think they could lose players even faster?
-
You can do that aswell in KSP1 but it still isnt very user friendly. So then let me some up your post: "Change for the Sake of change is great - everything new is better automatically". And you probably will be suprised - i also like the old speedometers in cars better then the new digital ones. I would argue that im way to much into new tech - i buy too much of it and use too much of it - still i dont think everything new is automatically great. Also looking at the new UI most of it is simply design for the sake of design- and thats something i never liked. Im more of a "Form follows function" guy - i still enjoy a good design if it embraces that motto - and i like a clean design in general where the things i need are presented in a way for me to see them as fast as possible. And im not a fan of compressing all information as much as possible in a tiny spot.

Everything hinges on the first update. Fingers crossed! [discussion]
Moons replied to TheArturro's topic in KSP2 Discussion
It doesnt have anything to do with weather or weather not you think that 50 USD is a lot of money - its about the product you get for that value compared to other products. EA means that you buy the game as is in the time of purchase for 50 USD so thats what you should rate and thats what the price should reflect. People obviously review and should review what they actually bought and not what they hope something might or might not become in the future. Pricing the game in its current state at 50 USD was just asking for an awful launch and bad press and reviews. -
Well guess people are different i think for example: - the new "are we in space" view is ugly and i think it looked way better beeing on top - the "orientation ball" besides the Navball would be less annoying if it was smaller and above the Navball - it also should be transparent and the icons should be way smaller - the Navball just has too many details - you probably even cant make it smaller since you wouldnt be able ot read anything - the Engines ressources and the Go-Button area are a giant waste of space and they dont even look good - its a huge grey box for no reason with a tiny font and tiny bars for no reason blocking a huge part of the screen - Kerbal Picture and Vessel-Ressource is the same - its huge, the actual information is tiny and the use of grey boxes with outlines blocks lots of screen space for no reason - Vessel actions on the left and the menu on top is also pretty useless to be shown constantly My suggestions: - reduce the complexity of the NAVball and stop pushing everything on the bottom left - or at least add a "legacy UI option" - i also think that the "are we in space" view sh ould be on top and look more like before since the new design - in my opinino - is ugly (and make it smaller or add options to change size) - change the design in general - i know its supposed to use stylish or whatever but in reality it just looks like it doesnt belong into the game - put the orientation ball that is now beside the Navball above it- make it smaller and transparent- reduce the size of the icons in it - all menus that arent required all the time should just minimize themselves with an option to "lock them" in their expanded version - Minimalism is the key - remove all pointless boxes that block a players view - the ressource windows (vessel and engines etc.) are way too big - they have huge boxes yet use a tiny font and the actual information is probably using 1/4th of the screen space it blocks due ot the boxes. - put the time-speed up etc. on the top left and make it way smaller - it takes up way too much space for what it is - i also dont understand why every of those menus even needs its own black bar with additional text - who cares? VAB: - change lighting - the center of focus should be the rocket - not the menu and the hall - make everything smaller - the important thing is the rocket - not the menu I was also wondering about a function to improve building - i often am annoyed by having to look for parts that even fit - would it be possible to have an option to only show parts that are compatible with the last built part (especially the size) - or maybe even a suggestion system to some extent - for example - if i build a tank - fitting engines will be shown in a special window on the right - or if i build an engine decouplers that fit will be shown etc.? (obviously players should be able to disable it) - this would make building faster and probably even help new players
-
Honestly looking at the state of the game especially at the launch and player numbers (the reviews are devastating, looking at the videos there are lots of bugs) - i doubt that its a good idea to be overly cautious with patches - isnt the main point of EA having players test - so isnt doing quality-control now - after the lets say pretty bad release - a bad idea? I think they will lose more players by delaying patches for quality control than they would lose by faster patches that may or may not fix things and add some new bugs - its not like the game is in a great state that has to be kept. My Suggestion - do it like other EA-DEVs - add beta builds to the game (steam has that option) - stable and unstable builds and let players test - do patches faster with less quality control and smaller changes and let players test - thats what EA is for isnt it? This would also be way better for PR since people would get the feeling that there is work beeing done constantly and not looking at delay and patch announcement posts all the time. If this game is supposed to make a comeback there have to be lots of changes - if your too slow maybe even by trying to be too perfect with patches you will actually maybe never make a comeback.
-
What a weird argument. You probably know very well that "unplayable" is a hyperbole to describe a game with lots of gamebreaking and general bugs and that it doesnt mean that nobody on this planet can play this game for even 1 minute ... Playernumbers really arent looking good: KSP1: 4540 KSP2: 1160 I think they should try to push out patches faster - too much quality control at this point probably isnt efficient at this point in time. I think they will lose more players by doing that than by pushing out patches that may or may not add some extra bugs while fixing others. Also wouldnt that be the point of EA - let players test?
-
I dont think so at all - the old UI was pretty clean and distinctive with the use of colors all important things were easy to see. To me it just seems and feels chaotic if everything is just stuck together with way to many information in a really small space. And as i said from my point of view the new UI actually uses ap more space then the old Interface - the new Navball and the extras already use 1/6th of the screen. I never felt like something important of my view was blocked in KSP1. I think the design of the new Navbal is bad - its too big - too many details and the color-picks also dont help. Since some people seem to prefer the new one maybe a flexible UI or maybe even a retro UI would be a nice solution. The other aspect - the lighting of the building area seems to be something most people dont like that much.
-
I did some more research into the game and watched some more youtube videos and i really started to wonder - while the design of the UI looks better in many aspects - it also - to me - seems to be way worse and chaotic in other aspects. I wonder how other people feel about that? I didnt find much screenshots so i used some from the official site and the forum: Flight UI: To me it just looks worse in KSP2 - the old UI is clean - doesnt take too much space and has a good visibility of important numbers. It makes sense to have the Navball in the center and the NAVball only has the things important to the Navball. KSP2 UI seems like its condensed on the bottom and bottom left of the screen - everything is way bigger and has way more details leading to it actually being way less uncluttered from my point of view. There is way too many details and numbers in a small area and the rest of the screen is barely used. On the other hand the things that arent important at all - faces of kerbals etc. are suddenly huge. The style of KSP2 numbers etc. mighit look nice and retro but its - from my point of view - very cluttered and confusing. To sum it up - i think the new interface looks and from an UI point of view is way worse than the UI of a 10 year old game ... - it feels as if the focus was primary to make it look "cool" and not the actualy usability. There is a clear lack of visual distinctions. And a lot of screen space is simply wasted - why for example does the open Stage 1 screen use up probably tripple the space for the same ammount of information presented in KSP1? Why even give everything huge grey boxes? Also for example the thing besides the navball is huge - blocks lots of visual space - colorful on black doesnt look good either (the round interface object besides the navball). (from this comment and user on the forum - hope its okay to use it since i dont have screenshots: (from this comment and user on the forum - hope its okay to use it since i dont have screenshots: Building: I feel the same way with the building. While the new system looks a bit better on the surface - it seems to be way worse when it comes to usability. Everything takes up more space for no reason - the important things - the actual built rocket - aswell as the staging has way less clarity in its design. The clear visual distinction between stages in KSP1 looks way better than the stylized design in the new game. And in general looking at the screenshot i wonder if a less realistic lighting and clear distinction between rocket and the background more similar to KSP1 would lead to a way nicer building function. To put it simple - in KSP1 the focus seems to be the thing you actually build - in KSP2 the focus seems to be the interface and the design of the interface.
-
No because i wont buy the product as is - which is what EA is - at this price. I bought KSP1 and every DLC when it was released and was about to buy this aswell - but not at this price and it seems im not the only one - yet i still am interrested in this game succeeding which is why i make suggestions because i doub it will if it continues like this - especially an even higher release price for 1.0.
-
1) Publishing method: I think the price now - and the future higher price will be way too high and will hold back a successfull KSP2 so i would suggest to try to reduce the price of the initial purchase by: for example making Interstellar a DLC - but giving it to everyone that pre-ordered now at 50 USD - then reduce EA price and game price in general and have Interstellar as DLC? (i picked that since it probably would speed up development since i doubt its easy to implement and its probably also not the first thing most people would try) a reduced scale probably could also help with getting 1.0 out sooner, get sales sooner and have a price point at which more people would be willing to buy and would expect less from EA? (i am sure ppl would be way less negative if the price was similar to other EA games in a similar state - so for exmaple 30 USD in EA) 2) Community Interaction: in general there need to be more clear and condensed channels for news about the game etc. - as it is now it feels like information is all over the place - a lot of it in a locked service (Discord) not visible to many and mostly having lots of users because ppl simply join a server and auto join whenever they are online doing someting else in Discord (i also think that Discord is awful for deeper community interaction and presenting information since verything is hidden from the public internet and everything within Discord just gets chaotic the more users join) do a Q&A with handpicked questions - just make a thread for people to ask questions take some and try to answer them officially? (especially now since lots of people are probably a bit worried) show off what is there and show people that there is lots of progress -> simply pick some DEVs that want to and can show off the internal version of the game - what is beeing worked on - what works, what doesnt - just to show that there is lots of things going on and make development more personal - something like that most of the time can calm a community down a lot after a bad start
