[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
Synthesis replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
IVA's worked fine as well for me before (at least for the Soyuz pack). I'm going to have to remove the pack for memory reasons, but I can at least confirm that. -

I'm very excited to hear that--I love Bobcat's Soyuz-U and Soyuz-TMA, but their memory consumption just crashes my system too much (I had to cut all the Mir and Buran parts just to get it working). -
At the risk of necromancy (I know, I know), has any headway been made with this? I've come to the inevitable conclusion that Bobcat's wonderful Soviet Historic Pack is just going to be very problematic, even after trimming it down to only Soyuz and Progress components. Despite having a good system, I guess KSP just isn't having any of it (along with my other mods, which I consider indispensable), and an alternative would be great.

Really? That's very informative, thank you--I'll need to check if KOSMO's rings are size=1 as well, they are that size but they may not be encoded as such (I could never get them to work with the default parts). Good to hear that Soyuz can dock with stock parts though! -

I hate to sound like I'm complaining again, but I can't get a break--I installed the 0.21 update of the Soviet Pack, Bobcat, and now I get a crash way through loading. Not sure what could be causing it, I'm going to try trimming down the Soviet pack so I just get the Soyuz parts I really want most. Anyone else have this issue? EDIT: Well, removing the ISS, Salyut, and Buran parts seemed to make it stable. Glad Soyuz is back for me. Question: is the docking node on the Soyuz U or Soyuz TMA actually compatible with anything? The in-game docking ring? Or is it just intended to hold the escape system in place? -

Actually, I'm waiting for an update for the Soviet Pack. I'm using KSP 0.21.1, but it disagrees with the whole Soviet pack (really bad slowdown/crashing in VAB). -

Exemplary detail as usual, CardBoard. Thinking of the Angara tanks, this is pretty exciting. -

They are--as it happens, I'm just experiencing a different glitch--having the whole Soviet historical pack causes horrible slowdown in the VAB and SPH. I'm happy to wait for an update though, I'm not using anything in my new savegame, and all I really want is Soyuz. -

Is anyone getting crashes when trying to load Bobcat ships in the VAB? I just installed it into 0.20.2, and while the individual parts seem to work fine, the VAB files seem to cause an immediate CTD. Is there something off with the craft file? -

Is anyone else getting a crash to desktop whenever loading one of the stock ships, like the TKS or anything else? I haven't made any modifications, but it's been crashing every time. And the strange thing is, I can load the individual parts just fine. -

Excellent. I'm not sure if I missed you explaining this in the past, but are you redoing all the engines? I mean, I don't know the technical issues involved, but if they're all of that quality, I'll be something to look forward to. -
I've asked this question so many times I'm apologizing in advance, but I've never actually gotten a working answer: is there a way for me to reduce (significantly) the heat multiplier? I love the idea of this mod, but I really need to ease into it, and having my undeployed parachutes explode while my command pod survives really doesn't seem like it's working. Particularly I'd like to edit something in the configuration files (the multiplier itself isn't enough).

I eagerly await this as well--I was a late adopter to DR (my first project was an unmanned soil sample vehicle/crane), and I really do need things like door hinges to be effective. It'll great to see what you come up with. -

A belated vote for complex from me--it's been a very long time since I checked out this thread, great to see that the engines are getting some love too. -
I would say no--because many parts already clip without the debug menu's help, and other parts simply don't fit properly (even though they should) without debug menu's assistance.

Not sure what's more exciting--the failed mission or the rescue! Great stuff!

Good to hear! I'm too used to editing CFG files myself, I need to actually look into Module Manager more thoroughly. Do you know if there's a way to set the heat multiplier? EDIT: Hah, like an idiot, I overlooked the obvious raising of the maxtemp values for the parts--which would be permanent, unlike setting the multiplier.

If I had to guess, RocketCo's Soyuz was really polished (and also had stuff like its own radial decouplers), even if it was just for the Kerbabl Lander. Of course, that means the port needs a lot of polish too, but honestly, I'd love to have both options. Definitely going to be keeping my eyes on this.

The master returns! Excellent! Even if this means I need to scrap my 0.20-quickfix models!
