[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
Synthesis replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Any efforts to overcome some of the memory issues would be much appreciated, I'm sure, BobCat. I miss the wonderful Soyuz vehicle in my own program. -
[WIP] Apollo-like crew module (Updated download 17.2.2014)
Synthesis replied to Ledenko's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Looks good so far, have you given any consideration for IVA/interior? Besides that, you've mentioned having a heat shield--I'd recommend a unique decoupler that makes it fit well with K&W, but it's your decision of course. -
Very cute! What pack is that double-tape recorder part of? Rarely have I seen such a Kerbal-esque bit of science equipment.

Well, I'm happy to be proven wrong. -

I don't believe so, unfortunately--it's a great little mod, but CBBP has moved on to bigger and better things (KOSMOS I imagine). -
[WIP] Space Launch System (SLS) and ORION (MPCV)
Synthesis replied to Stevincent's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
The Orion Spacecraft looks great so far! I'm looking forward to it because Bobcat's historic packs are just unrunnable for me (way too memory extensive even to use part of them). -
Has anyone else noticed that the shields don't exactly work on other equipment? I've got what seems like a very reasonable reentry descent--60 km to 40 km--on stuck the shield on the B9 Mk5 cockpit (roughly the normal 2.5m component size). So, upon reentry, it explodes catastrophically upon as soon as it starts to heat up at 33 km. I played around with the multiplier in the CFG file (not convinced that actually does anything), changing it from 25 to 2, since reentry at a few times the temperature of the sun's surface may not be necessary. I repeated the exercise, and thought things were going as normal...until at about 29 km, when my heat shield was 60% depleted but at 1200 degrees. It exploded, and then so did the cockpit. Strangely, I've done this same reentry (in fact, much more severe) with the generic Squad cockpit module, angled the same, and survived no problem. This mod seems to be all over the place though (I recently reinstalled it, hoping that it would ease up on the bugs, but instead just made it seem worse). Anyone have any idea what might have caused this?

Is Optimism too on the nose?

Another in agreement, but I'd be satisfied if we can mount the KAS somewhere inside the cargo bay. The robotic arm sounds great, but the Mini Shuttle has plenty going for it from what I've seen even without it.

Are you getting crashes when loading up on the launch pad as well? For me, I couldn't use just part of the Soviet Pack (Soyuz/Progress) with a medium-size mod collection (KW, Kosmos, KAS, Hooligan) without crashes 3/5 of the time I switched. Just too memory extensive. Installing the entire pack broke the game immediately. -
Can't argue with that--I'm sure we appreciate the effort, even if this thread has kind of died off. Sadly, I can't offer much advice when it comes to performance balancing (I just keep everything pretty close to the stock game with few exceptions).

Looks like they'll look better than the Angara tanks soon! -

Engine fairings? -
This is pretty great! I'll definitely be following this, it'll be a nice option for small probes and such.

AIES has some of the best-looking dishes, antennas, and meters out there.
-
As already mentioned, this has got a sort of B9-thing going on (which is great), as well as being super cute. I would definitely jump at the chance to try this out whenever you release.

A lot of people have been having trouble downloading from SpacePort. Ironically, I have had no problems, but since 0.21, my KSP cannot handle the Soviet pack (even just the Soyuz-U/Soyuz-TMA/Progress parts) alongside other mods without very vigorous crashing. But, that's the price you pay when you mod. -

Oh, awesome! Glad I misunderstood you--it's nice to have engines that can be multi-mounted, but when it comes to actual setups like the ones in KOSMOS, I prefer the actual multi-mounted units (which I believe existed, at least on paper), rather than relying on KSP's symmetry engine. -

Fair enough! I do think they'd be great for 2.5 meter units, but it's your mod and you guys know best. -

Google to the rescue! (Some of the two-engine combinations) (A less-poly version of it, but you get the idea.) I miss the super-powerful two and four engine options, but I appreciate you've already got a very ambitious list of stuff to add. -

I need to get myself so better four-engine adapters. Depending on what you're using, there might be structural issues with a two-engine or four-engine setup, but cosmetically, I don't think you can beat the look of the two and four engine adapters from the old Angara pack. Of course, you guys are redoing everything from scratch, so I can imagine that's very low on your list of priorities, if anywhere. And, of course, gotta update! -

Agreed, masterful stuff there, CBBP. For a 2.5-diameter tank, will you still be releasing four engines mounted together in the future, or is the smaller size becoming standard? -

As usual, looking very good!
