[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Great to hear! Can't wait to install this, the dialog box bug has limited my KSP time otherwise (at the same time, I love my some life support!) -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Happy birthday! The screenshot looks good--though I think food and water would be a little too much management for me. Will it be possible just to edit 2.0 to only track breathable atmosphere? -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
EDIT: Will 2.0 be addressing the GUI/can't close windows issue? That sticks out in my mind more than anything, since there's no way around it except avoiding parts that generate windows, and its tied to the persistence issues. Time to be patient! -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sadly, I think this is tied to the whole "Cannot close Windows" bugs that I've mentioned in the past. -

Sorry to self-quote, but has anyone made anything of this glitch? -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod

Has anyone had any headway fixing the "stuck windows" bug? I think it's linked with losing the ability to terminate spacecraft in the tracking menu--you can't close a window opened up in the assembly area (like KAS storage containers for example). You have to quit out instead. A fairly big interface problem if you're using any part with that feature. -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Fascinating observation! I've noticed my CPU performance has gone downhill as well, I'll need to investigate if ECLSS is the cause too. I also thought it was because I had too many mods as well, but this wasn't so bad in 0.22. -

Indeed--the current models, while very sharp looking, are clearly the sort of things that would exist on a massive ISS-size space station--and should probably carry enough oxygen for a mere 3 passengers for months, not weeks, before factoring in recovery. We're dealing with a recycling and tank system each as large, or larger, in volume than a three man command module! I hate questioning a modder like this, since I've got zero experience in the matter, but it really does seem like the current systems are really inefficient, compared to the 1960s technology. Look: the Soyuz's nitrogen/oxygen life support system seems to tank up the volume of ~3 cylindrical tanks, each half the size of a passenger or so (I'm guessing here, it's hard to get a good picture of them), and has enough capacity for 30 days with a crew of 3. Obviously, this doesn't include things like food and so forth, but it's still very small. -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod

In the meantime, I think we definitely need smaller tanks, and generally speaking, we need tanks to carry more gas under pressure. It seems odd you can carry a regenerator and oxygen tank assembly much larger in volume than your command module, but three kerbonauts will use it up in a matter of a week or two (even with enough electricity to operate everything). I'm going to be modifying values to carry more gas, but in the meantime, small tanks that we can fit into, say, the 6S service module or the like would be appreciated. Basically something smaller than a 1.25 meter tank. Still enjoying the mod though. -
Aside from avoiding the memory crash, it sounds like this is giving people better performance (especially FPS). My FPS has gone to hell since the 0.23 update, and I'm trying to ascertain it's NOT this mod--I thought compression might be doing a number on my CPU or GPU, but I have a fairly modern system (470GTX in SLI), so it could be that I need to reinstall KSP.

[0.23] Beastly Science - Scoop-O-Matic and more! (JAN0214)
Synthesis replied to BeastofChicken's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Awesome addition, can't wait to use it! The look just makes it work. Has anyone had any trouble getting this to work in the Parts Catalogue? Doesn't seem to show up in an individual group, only under 'All'. -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I think the bug comes from the mod interfering with the window closing--for example, if I right-click the ASET lander, I can't close the window that comes up with the mod activated. -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Great! Anyway, I spoke to soon--I couldn't recover a module sitting on the ground. Still a few bugs here and there. -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Terminating seems to work for me again, hurray! Anyway, add me to the crowd of people who'd like a smaller air recycler (maybe the sort of thing we can mount on Sum Dum's service module). You can't rush art, of course, but it's something that would be a great next step, The current system is overkill for just three kerbals at a time. Good mod all the same! -
[0.23]asmi's ECLSS Mod (current version - 1.0.15) - Life Support Mod
Synthesis replied to asmi's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Having given this a try, I find it's very promising! However, it does seem to break the 'Terminate' function for debris and objects. But it's a WIP, right, so bugs will be ironed out I hope! -
[Testing] Compressing Textures in Memory
Synthesis replied to AncientGammoner's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Okay, so... At the menu after launching, without the DLL--3.4 GB. I like to live dangerously. With the DLL at the same point--2.45 GB....? I'm not sure how long it'll hold, it but seems to work! -
Let me commend you on your work, this is excellent stuff! I'm already pushing the memory ceiling or I'd definitely pursue this. Amazing, this is the first thing I'll look if KSP ever overcomes its memory issues.

Multiversal Mechatronics Sample Collector Revisited 1.0
Synthesis replied to r4m0n's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Excellent work, r4m0n! I've been trying to turn a KAS part on a winch into a soil collector (specifically, the radial port), but for some reason, as soon as I lower the winch, it loses all ability to collect soil samples (either through action groups or right clicking). I may have to use this instead. I've tried modifying the CFG of the KAS part, but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. -
PorkWorks dev thread [Habitat Pack] [SpaceplanePlus]
Synthesis replied to Porkjet's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Nice! Even has an interior--I'll be checking this out! I'm a little worried about how memory intensive it is, but nothing's free.. -
[1.1.x] Space Shuttle Engines (2016-07-03)
Synthesis replied to sarbian's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well, dtobi, thank you for your advice: I was able to get my shuttle in orbit finally, after a lot of adjustment. It might not carry much cargo, but it's a start! -
[1.1.x] Space Shuttle Engines (2016-07-03)
Synthesis replied to sarbian's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Okay, I can definitely reduce the height of the shuttle on the tank, but I should have been more specific: I was hoping to have the shuttle ride up on its launch vehicle, Buran-style, rather than burning its own fuel immediately. Is that totally impossible? If so, I'll need to set up a line to transfer whatever fuel is left in the lift vehicle back into the shuttle, I guess. Otherwise, though, I can mount weaker engines on the lift vehicle. I don't expect that will be tough. And thank you for your help so far. -
[1.1.x] Space Shuttle Engines (2016-07-03)
Synthesis replied to sarbian's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yes, but I have to admit, I'm really unsure if I'm too high or too low. I honestly think my center of thrust is just way vs center of mass. Or something's wrong with my lift. Probably my lift surfaces. I'm very lost! For reasons of simplicity/performance/avoiding headaches, I've tried to reduce the number of parts I'm using while having enough delta-V to go into high orbit. -
[1.1.x] Space Shuttle Engines (2016-07-03)
Synthesis replied to sarbian's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Any chance you could help me? I tried to make a shuttle like OP, but I just can't get it off the ground without falling backwards. Not sure where to begin.
