  1. I tend to make my interplanetary stages huge monsters which take hours (Sometimes literally) to boost anywhere. My technique is to just slap the ASA on, keep the window in one half of the screen while I get on with writing or something in the oher half.

It depends. if something unavoidable happened like the developers falling off a cliff or a total crash of the Mexican economy I would be disappointed, but since I've gotten much, much more than my money's worth from my £10 I wouldn't moan too much. On the other hand if, for some reason, Squad just gave up and used the KSP funds to start another project I'd be annoyed because, ultimately I've paid with the expectation of getting a full game.
  4. I experienced this building my manned Moho ship in kerbin orbit, fortunately, when I went to 2x physical warp, the ship only hiccupped by about 200m, so with a little correction, I was still able to dock.
  5. On the plus side, unlike KSP, if we do clog up space and make it impossible to launch, we'll only have to wait a couple of decades for the worst of it to de-orbit.

KSP makes no apologies that it's about being a fun game first and an accurate simulator a distant second. it's the same reason why sports games like FIFA tend to have their games squashed into 10-20 minutes unless you specifically ask for a full-length game - for most people it's more fun to have a number of quick-fire games than sitting through a tedious 0-0 kickabout for two hours. The only racing game I can think of offhand which has realistic race lengths is the endurance races in Gran Turismo and maybe some settings on the F1 racing games.

  10. Has anyone got a 2hot probe reading from Laythe's ocean to hand? I landed a probe there back in .18 or 19 and recall the temperature at the surface to be ~15 degrees, though I may be very wrong. Perhaps Laythe is either heated through volcanism, tidal forces, Jool, or a combination of all three. Alternately, there are extremophiles on Earth which survive in the depths of antarctic caves. So long as jets work on Laythe, there must be something pumping out prodigeous amounts of free oxygen
  11. You can get molecular oxygen, sure, but as others have said, not the thick oxygen soup needed to power jet engines. Unless there's something very scwewy going on there, mibrobial life is the best explanation for an oxygen-saturated atmosphere.
  12. I currently have a mission planned to land on, and return from Moho. The Cheyenne V will consist of a lander, an interplanetary stage with 4 Nukes and a chain of three or four drop-tanks connected by Senior docking ports. The Cheyenne IV is being assembled in orbit to test this concept.
  13. Possibly the most frustrating was docking a full orange tank plus a docking ring (all stock) to my space station with just one ring of 3 RCS blocks around its CoG. I covered the last 50-100m at a 0.1m/s crawl.
  14. Not too long, I practiced rendezvousing and transferring crew back in 0.16 or .17 (whenever EVA was introduced...) getting to within 20m is child's play, it was always the last few metres which scuppered me.
  15. Yeah, I've gotten a kerbal down to the 'seas' of Minmus, then back to orbit and inside the craft using 99.3% of the jetpack fuel (And I'm sure you could do it with less)
  16. I don't think I've ever had to de-orbit a nuke in Kerbin's atmosphere. I've crashed a few there by mistake though! Most of mine are either harmlessly in orbit or else smashed on the airless surfaces of the Mun (or more recently, Moho.)

The satelite was an afterthought, to be honest (although I forgot that when I disconnected it, my RCS would no longer be balanced, making my lander sway madly when it came to land) the key task of the Cheyenne mission was to land safely on Moho's surface. The next task is to land a kerbal there, plant a flag and get him home again. That might involve docking a ship together in orbit, I don't think I could build a much bigger launch vehicle and avoid lag.
  21. if you're using it for interplanetary missions then you'll waste dV by not taking advantage of the Oberth effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberth_effect Plus as others have said you'll waste fuel circularising to rendezvous with your Mun station when you return to the Kerbin system. Basically, a Mun station on its own is cool, but if you want it to be useful, you'd be better off building low around Kerbin
