  1. In the event that you are clicking the star icon and the dialog still doesn't appear, right-clicking and opening the link in another tab will normally work. That's what we found out when the forums were being fritzy and a lot of the system dialogs weren't working.
  2. It's apparent that this discussion doesn't have anywhere else to go, and that this thread is just garnering spam and derailing. Closed.

Yeah, sorry guys. If you see an official thread, trying to bypass what is says usually isn't a good idea.
  4. Uhh, yeah, anything over around 5m/s is pretty excessive speed when it comes to landing spacecraft that are carrying immense amounts of highly flammable chemicals. I've had parts destroyed going slower than that. Try slowing down a bit. Come back and let us know if it keeps happening, though. For reference, 20m/s is around 45mph or 72km/h. You say you're going less than that, but that's just a comparison. Smashing into a moon at 45mph is bound to cause some problems
  5. The game only renders craft out to 2.2km or somewhere in that area. After that, if a craft is in atmosphere, it's automatically destroyed unless you can somehow switch focus to it before it's de-rendered. It would be best for you to create a craft that carries the probes into full exospheric orbit, and drop them into atmosphere from there so you don't lose your craft. Edit: If you're already doing that, you might want to make sure you have probe cores on your probes, otherwise they'll be labelled as debris and you can only track them through the debris tab in the tracking station, assuming you have persistent debris enabled. (Thanks Kasper)
  6. Granted, there is no more wishing because I locked the thread. I wish I had a bigger desk.
  7. This can't really be answered right now, as only the devs know what's happening with career mode. If anything, I can see this being more of a game mechanic suggestion than a question. For all we know, career mode might not even go in-depth enough for re-usable crafts to matter, but we won't know until we get there.
  8. I don't exactly remember the sensation of orbiting, but I do remember the sensation of my first Mun landing. Funny how things feel like such accomplishments as you do them, but later become just another thing you do that you can't believe you couldn't do before.
  9. Eventually is a key word here. At the moment, according to the presentation at Unite 2013, each planet is hand-placed and their parameters are all set manually. It can't be said if this is going to remain permanent, or if they'll find a way to randomly generate infinitely stable systems.
  10. Pretty much this. They'll let us know when they're getting close and it will be apparent when it's released. Just sit back and wait. Until then, threads such as this only serve to spread false information and become chat threads. That said, closing this.
  11. Hi there, JUDUFU, welcome to the forums. Before accumulating five total posts, you are in a usergroup called "Curious George" which places restrictions on your account and puts your first posts into our moderation queue, so that we can make accurate judgement on your account's intentions (see: spambots). Your posts are being published and cycled through our queue before being made public. If you have further questions, please see the forum F.A.Q. posted and stickied by stupid_chris, available in the welcome forum, or simply by clicking here.
  12. I'm at a loss for words here, I must say. I was rather amused until I got to the part where you flew each one and landed them. Then I was amazed. Here, have some rep points that don't really do anything in appreciation. I'd give you a medal if I could.
  13. We actually have an entire sub-forum dedicated to users posting their mission stories, if that's what you're going for, which is a sub-forum of KSP Fanworks forum. If it's more of a writing thing, you can post it in KSP Fanworks. From what I'm getting, you're planning on writing on-going reports on a mission shared between you and your friends? Correct me if I'm wrong. But Mission Reports sounds like the right place to go. Sounds like a lot of fun though, I hope you get it figured out.
  14. I'm not a lawyer, so don't quote me on this, but I'd imagine this would be a fan-works sort of thing, which we really welcome around here, and of being in that nature, I don't think it would be an issue to use some of the imagery. So long as you make it clear that the images are copyright of Squad and you're not making a profit from it or selling them in any way, I can't see it being an issue. Again, I'm not a lawyer, nor am I a legal representative for Squad, so I might be wrong, and if I were you I wouldn't go by anything not posted by someone who knows what they're talking about (e.g. Squad officials). That said, if you're really worried about it, it might be worth your time to go through Squad's privacy and copyright policies and see if you catch anything pertaining to it.
  15. They're ribbons generated by a user-created tool that detail where people have been, with what, and what they did there. Pretty nifty. You can find it here. Welcome to the forums! Hope I don't confuse you too much by shoving your post over here to the welcome wagon.
  16. Every version is going to contain some kind of optimization or performance upgrades in one way or another-- However, I don't think the level of change you're looking for is going to happen in a single update. Details of each patch are lined out in the patch notes, as well as weekly publications prior to release to get a sneak peak of what might be happening. Beyond that, anything you hear is speculation. Nobody has a secret list of things that are going to happen, as the QA process can and will change what you will see when the update is released, and such a list cannot be created or relied on if it were. Be patient. We're still in early development and performance is being worked on with each update. That said, I'll close this as to keep any false information or rumors from spreading about.
  17. Please note the moderators are also ninjas. Let's keep it clean in here, ladies and gentlemen. Absolutely no need for berating each other.
  18. Far as I've heard, SSD's and RAMDisks for KSP make very little difference in most cases. It can be a touchy subject as some people will defend the performance increase. I suppose it depends on the hardware and the person observing the changes. But, for the record, everyone I talk to that has loaded KSP onto such a device experiences the same load times as when they had it on a mechanical HDD. It's a limitation of the game, not the hardware. tl;dr no you shouldn't be worried
  19. Well, that was a mess. Keep it clean in here, folks. There's absolutely no reason for personal attacks and arguments that have nothing to do with the thread.
  20. Gotta remember, there's a distinct difference between auto-saves and quick-saves. I generally play by one rule with that: if I don't remember making a quick-save, I don't reload.
  21. KSP currently has no official projected launch date for final release or alpha builds. As I'm sure you've heard many-a-time in the past, the release date is when it's done, and not a moment sooner. That said, closing this, as you have an answer.
  22. Is this a thread discussing an online article or an argument about the TOS? Get back on topic, people. And keep it civil-- no need for name-calling and personal attacks.
  23. Gotta admit, I laughed pretty hard at the orbit bit. KSP gets into my dreams when I play it a lot too. Mostly just floating in space and screaming. Currently having dreams about Payday 2 though.
  24. I usually forget the abort button even exists. I've only used it once to test an escape tower. Most of the time, if something is going to go wrong, it happens as soon as I press space and there isn't enough time to even think about aborting. Just gotta sit back and watch the fireworks.
  25. I'm sure SOMEONE in our modding community could help you out. Ferram is indeed a mod developer and messes with the aerodynamics a bit so he might know. And if not, there's plenty more people that I'm sure could. That said, this thread MAY get the attention you're seeking in the add-on forums, so I'll pop it over there. If you don't want it in there I can always move it back.
