I was in fourth grade in '86, a stone's throw away from Johnson Space Center. My father was friends with Ellison Onizuka, and his daughter played on the same soccer team as my sister. Most of the people in the area had some connection to NASA, and it hit the area pretty hard. In 2003, I was living in East Texas. I had a class on Saturdays, so I was up early, getting ready when I heard the rumble. Didn't have any idea what it was at the time, but as soon as I checked the online news, I realized what it was. I turned on the TV, and they were showing footage of the debris trails in the sky. Yeah, I put escape systems on all my vehicles. It just doesn't seem right not to.

Discovery has always been my favorite for some reason, but Columbia is good as well. I notice Enterprise is missing from the list, though.

Mostly true. I was objecting to the statement that everyone working at NASA is in it for the adventure/glory/greater good/whatever, and no one was there because it's what they do to get a paycheck. I know there are some that are there because they like it, or they feel it's where they need to be. My father was looking for something else in January of '86, but decided he owed it to friends to stay and do what he could. He stayed for two decades, until he decided that management wasn't as fun as engineering. My mother, on the other hand, retired as soon as she could. My office: Me; happy with my job. Coworker: he seems rather happy, too. I know he's turned down one offer to move within the company. OtherDepartment[1]: she's going for a degree so she can move on to other things. OtherDepartment[2]: she's quite often talking about going back to real estate, where she can make more money. She doesn't seem to trust the place to not fall apart, though. OtherDepartment[3]: she's working there as a second job to fund her shopping habit. OtherDepartment[4]: he just finished up a degree and is actively looking for a job elsewhere making much more.

And that has squat all to do with the fact that people take jobs to get money.

Found something strange in the settings.cfg

Considering that it's right above DONT_SEND_IP, I'd guess it's related to sending information back to the developers. -
The wife gets cranky when I try to get rid of the kids, too.
-
Your sweeping generalization was a bit off base, then. People work at NASA because they want to do something meaningful..., not for the cash. True, but the kids get cranky if I don't feed them. Trust me. Plenty of people would be out the door in a minute for a bigger paycheck.
-
Bull. There's some that work there for the whole "it's NASA/good of humanity/making a difference" aspect. There's a hell of a lot more that do it because that's who offered them a paycheck. You'd be surprised how quickly the "shine" wears off and it becomes just another job.

-snip- So, what is a "Yargnit", anyway?
-
Have you ever considered a career where you don't feel like your job is hanging on a budget thread, subject to the prevailing political winds and likely to change every 2/4/8 years?

I assigned the number pad as translation controls and use flight mode so I can control rotation and translation at the same time. I tried to use docking mode with a joystick, but every time I tried to switch between rotation and translation via the assigened button, it also switched the active vessel.

Yeah, this. Most of the time, I find out about releases when I see people starting a bunch of threads in the forum.

[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485

I like the idea of ranks being editable. I do see a problem, however, in handling both my Air Force/Army/Marine Kerbals and my Navy Kerbals (not to mention civilian Kerbals), since the ranks are different. Perhaps allow a user to edit the list of ranks, and also allow for free entry into the rank field in-game. -
When will the asteroid retrieval mission be released?

So, a few years after it was planned, then? -
The inclination comes from the latitude of the launch site. KSC is at about 28.5 degrees north of the equator. Compare that to the listed inclinations.

That's absolutely nothing like a landing in KSP. Dumb pilot managed to screw up and miss all the grass. Got tire marks on the nice clean runway!

Alright, I finished it. Official opinion: it was alright as a story, but it doesn't really pull me in to the world or make me want to follow it up. There were some small details that just didn't make sense about the technology, which kept pulling me out of the world. For example, airships were mentioned as using steam thrusters to maneuver. How much thrust does steam provide, compared to the mass of a steam boiler, water, and fuel? We're back to the iPad in a wood case with useless brass. (The zombie thing isn't exactly my line, either. Seems to me they were there to make the world gritty and dangerous, but couldn't that have been done with something other than zombies? It felt like the author said "Hey, zombies are a thing that's popular right now, so I'll add zombies!")

I'm not parsing that. Did you want the black on top? Post 26 of this thread: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/69540-Making-high-contrast-nav-ball!?p=973145&viewfull=1#post973145 Or did you want the black on the bottom?

Do you land on The Mun or do you land on Mun?
razark replied to SiliconPyro's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It's spelled "NASA". Also, "Americans" is capitalized. Something about stones and glass houses. -
So I figured out how to get America back into the space game.

The primary failure here is assuming that enough people actually care. I can tell you that half the people in my office don't really care beyond getting a paycheck. -
2021? That's only two Presidential and four Congressional elections away! Also the entire Senate, with some seats being up twice.

I'd love to see a huge dry lakebed laid out with runways in the desert. As long as we have plane parts, we need a flight test center like Edwards, with plenty of room to find a flat area to set down.
